Love the birds whistling in the background. Thanks Andrew! 👍💪✌
Are birds allowed to 'twitter' and 'tweet' any more? Shouldn't they be 'X'-ing?
And if they're Aussie birds, maybe they'd rather be [Castlemaine] 'XXXX'-ing.🍺
@@EleanorPeterson Prost! 🍻
Magpies are also called Carolling Larks, isn't that lovely. XXXX is Queensland beer, we don't drink that down here
A great flying field you found for this mini-fun cub. Paired with a Radiomaster Pocket radio this TopRC Cub could offer lots of learning potential. Nicely reviewed.
Yes, good combo suggestion
Bom dia comandante, esses avião são perfeitos pra quem tá iniciando no aeromodelismo!
One those nice relaxing fun little planes. It appears they put a decent landing gear on that one for taking off the grass. TopRC makes some pretty good planes. Nice Review Andrew!
Thanks 👍
Very impressive for a beginner. Good review
i was thinking about pulling the trigger on it at $80 but at $120 think I'll pass but thanks for the review, i'll keep it in mind for when it goes on sale....
Just bought one for shits and giggles down the local park. Cheers pal 👍
Cool, it's one of the better RTF minis
Nice to see you finally getting down to our level, Andrew! 😉
This 1 isn't too bad. A pity that the Mid Mode is a little more restrictive than the Volantex Sport Cub 500 - no loops! But (until the Volantex one is sold with the clear-canopied Mini Warbirds upgraded features) it should find a market with the kids and Old Farts.
Waiting on the pre-ordered 1s brushless Mustang from Volantex to be shipped - IF it ever is! 😱🙄
Yes this is one of the better minis
Strange that this one has 50mm less wingspan than the very similar Sport Cub 500. Usually the Top RC parallels of the Volantex/Eachine micros have been 50mm larger (450 vs 400mm). This one does have a couple of changes from the SC 500 - steerable tailwheel attached to the rudder, and larger wheels. I already implemented both of those on my SC 500. I hope BG comes up with a BNF version - it seems odd that the manual now has all the details enabling you to fly it with the multi protocol transmitters yet there is no BNF version. So yet another toy transmitter to throw away (sigh!).
I expect that like the SC 500 it will be very suitable for indoor flying, at least if two basketball courts are available. I find I can loop my SC 500 easily in intermediate mode in the basketball stadiums. Actually it's even easier to loop it in non stabilised mode.
@@laurieclark577 What's "indoor flying" Laurie? 🤔😜🤣
@@theoztreecrasher2647 It's the part of the hobby they haven't banned yet, oz.
Looks like a nice little model and thanks for the demonstration of how well it files. On the BG site is is at 126 bucks US and that really is a lot for just a tiny toy. If they ever marketed one without the controller and way cheaper it may be fun to try using a multi protocol radio that most of us have these days.
Should be $82 if you follow the link provided to me.
It's €73 if you get it from the CZ warehouse, shipping into the EU zone. In Switzerland it'll be over USD 120 if I order it from CN.
Looks Nice enough and flies well too.
Would be interesting to see if it will bind to Frsky on multi protocol. 👍
If you use a sbus Frsky then yes
It's adorably cute. Slightly ironic that it's designed as a trainer - in the old-school high-wing, generous-dihedral sense - and yet still comes fully stabilised.
With today's clever flight tech a raw beginner could buy and fly almost anything, from a Spitfire to a stealth bomber, and expect to take it home in one piece. They wouldn't learn much about flying, but maybe that's seen as a positive thing when getting a phone-app to do the hard work for you is all the rage.
Before gyros, building or buying a Mustang or MIG as a 'trainer' would have been a recipe for disappointment.
A beginner will get a lot more useful experience from a forgiving plane such as this Cub (with or without the gyro) than from any number of 'switch it on and watch it go' low-wing or semi-scale jet fighters, even in they are more exciting to look at.
Yay for old-school trainers, I say.
I'm with you, Miss Elli! And that reminds me. I must remember to hitch up the horse and buggy and go into town to pick up some more sealing wax and candles. 🤔😉😊
Horizon sells the rebranded version
Not quite the correct syntax. Horizon SELLS a re-branded version of the same unit. 😉😊
G'day Andrew,
Volantex ASW28 V2 2540mm Wingspan, atm with BG Aus.. $138.00/Kit
Is she worth it??
Great price. Yes it's worth that. Not the best thermal glider but great for sloping or powered flight.
@@AndrewNewton: Sloping,, Cheers.
Another craptastic pile of packaging material.
Haha, this is better than most of them
They should imitate the plasticized, closed cell foam "clamshell" storage boxes the FMS/Rochobby rock crawlers come with. The top and bottom snap together. They are a premium addition for certain.
Looked interesting with Free shipping but not with $60 on a $120 plane.
Buy the Horizon version, same plane
@@Mikeylikesit1968 Thanks for the Heads up..
@@lasersbee Well almost the same. The Horizon re-branded unit has the trick button and mode switch in reversed positions from the TopRC original - in addition to the decal "resprays." 😜😁
@@lasersbee Also the Horizon Re-brand has slightly altered flight board firmware. The Expert Mode is not purely Manual - it retains some Rate/AS3X stabilization. The board still has the 2 satellite sockets in place (as pointed out by Brian Phillips) but whether either of them is still active is anyone's guess.
@@theoztreecrasher2647 Thanks for the additional tech Info. 😉
