    I want them all to succeed. The psychology involved in these cases is a real eye opener. Enabling, co dependence, lies, abuse, selfishness. How too many of them treat their families or other people gets me angry. Especially the children who have no choice. Treating them like slaves. Moaning & groaning about their physical pain & how exhausted they are while the sit & watch everyone else working to help them. James K. having his 15 yr old daughter drop out of High School to " help" him. I'm surprised no one called Child Protection Services. Or Paulines son Dylan. Talk about child abuse! And hearing someone 600÷ lbs saying they " need" the food they're getting at the store or fast food drive thrus. Or the "can't " do something instead of" won't". The lies & excuses instead of taking responsibility for their choices. Always someone else's fault for them being miserable. Nicki blaming her parents drug addictions as one reason she's obese.(Or was). Yet she doesn't want to see her food addictions effect on her 2 children? She looks great now. Congratulation to all of the patients who did the work neccessary to lose weight & I hope the others dont give up.

      Not just weight gain, also weight loss! The vast majority of anorexics grew up in dysfunctional or abusive families, or were abused or mistreated in other relationships. Yet most people think of anorexia as "that thing that happens when dumb girls watch ANTM and want to look pretty".
      Everybody understands that extreme weight gain is self-harm and is very often caused by trauma. But when it comes to weight loss, people act like it's the person's own fault for being superficial.

    • @kristiisham3711
      @kristiisham3711 5 ปีที่แล้ว +25

    • @cestalia
      @cestalia 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@BloodAndGutsTV It's impossible to do that, man. In my whole life, I actually only see three overweight people (I live in Asia mind you, overweight people are incredibly rare). Like, the two I could still ignore, but the last one? Hell no, I automatically judged her in my mind. Her body size is five times bigger than normal and she wore skimpy outfit. Seriously, her size is so big, it makes you wonder how you can get that big, because you need to eat a lot and doesn't move much. How she affords her food? Can she even work with that body? Why her clothes choice is short skirt and tank top?
      You might go something traumatic, but it's not a reason to make people won't judge you if you're neglecting yourself. It's like, buying the whole food for yourself and you expect the waiter not to have a frown or something.
      People will still judge you regardless anything, be it sexualities, your size, your personality, your habit, etc. You just have to give them reason, and it might sound cruel, but they don't care about your feeling.
      But seriously, I usually don't judge people, it's just.... This woman is too big, even bigger than overweight people and I was shocked.

    I feel sorry for the people because not only do the think about DYING due to their unhealthy habits, but after they get motivated and lose weight, the have all the loose/extra skin hanging and will probably spend thousands of dollars removing it. God bless y’all. Also it BULL that that lady’s husband didn’t like her eating healthy food and had a bigger lady fetish. Can’t believe he supported that..

    • @UnstapledLisa
      @UnstapledLisa 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Of course he did, Claire and to anyone who thinks like she does. She's on FB and does a lot for bariatric surgical community. She's also not the only female who did make money from men who have a fetish for larger women, to go on to have bariatric surgery for themselves and or for their families, in Z's case she had a rny gastric bypass for her daughter.
      Just because you or people in your circle may not know of something or like it or can relate, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
      Around 20 years ago, I did an informal study, interviewing 500 men all over the world, via AOL, asking them how they reacted to women not of their ideal physical preferences, truthfully because I was always a larger women, thinking the same thing as you, and the majority of men that I did interview initially DID like women on the smaller side of the spectrum (this was specific to heterosexual men and women) then I ran into "feeders"
      So try to knock of the judgement, okay. People aren't purposely unhealthy or aesthetically displeasing to piss you off. And unless you're just as harsh to people who die of smoking, alcoholism, drug addiction and Anorexia (which isn't as far away from Morbid Obesity as most people would think) it's really not about other's health that your concerned, it's about AESTHETICS.
      And for someone who had a gastric bypass almost 17 years ago , had to be judge mot of my life for being too fat and why don't you put down the fork, fatty and then too thin, and who bounces a lot, try not to be so judgemental on things that you obviously don't know much about.
      It takes a lot for those people who go on shows like My 600 LB or the reconstructive surgery shows on TLC, to get them covered, as well as any of us who have battled weight issues, if you haven't and or don't have empathy for people on the heavier side or are at best naive to think the whole world thinks like you, think again.
      Sandra-that is brilliant what Shriners does...It truly is win/win in with an awful foundation of why it's needed

    I don't understand
    when a person is super obese finally gets weighed, and they're upset at the scale numbers. Really?
    You don't need a super scale to tell you that you're super overweight.

      Many of these patients have not weighed themselves in years due to being in denial or simply can no longer use a conventional scale. By the time they are weighed at the clinic. They're simply in shock of how much weight they have gained.

    I have always been a big guy, at 27 y old at my heaviest I weighed in at 185kg, I'm 5ft 11inches tall. I used to eat 3 to 4 double cheese burgers every night and a 1.5 liters of coke before bedtime. Smoke pot n hookahs 4 to 5 times a day, I was depressed and bored with little friends n no girlfriend in my life. At 28 I had diabetes but couldn't care less n not taking medication or abstain from sugar. I was in self denial. Things took a drastic turn when my mom passed away, I was 28 then n I was soo depressed at her passing that I just couldn't eat or drink, I would vomit n cry a couple of times per day, my weight dropped to 125kg in just 4 months, I looked frail n my hair showed sign of balding. I was happy to see the weight loss but I know it's due to my depression, still continue smoking pot n hookahs. But eventually my weight continued dropping even though my appetite came back but I noticed I eat lesser, I totally didn't take any junk food n colas. N by 31 y old I got married n weight about 92kg. But over the years my weight gain back to about 125kg n I had diabetes, had my 5th toe amputated due to gangrene even though I controlled my sugar n went to the gym on a regular basis. I had signs of early erectile dysfunction n itchiness at my joints n private areas. I thought to myself that I don't want to die early n decided to go for a gastric bypass surgery. Best decision I made in my entire life, I started at 125kg n now aft 2 years I weighed at 73kg with muscles, I trained at the gym abt 2 hrs 4 times a week. My waist when from 46 inches to 32 inches. Got some loss skin but the best part is I'm off my diabetic medication for about 1 and a half years now, only taking multivitamins as prescribed by my doctor. I'm 40 now n looking forward to leading a more healthier n meaningful life. Quit pot n smoking n colas. Shocked a lot of people with my new self, some were impressed but there are some who thought I'm sick or something, some even though I had cancer! Well to each his own, I know I'm healthy n with muscles mass I gain I hope to inspire people on their weight loss journey.

    What do regular people do about all of the loose skin after that? I know it's expensive to have it taken off, so I wonder what they do about it. And they should find a way to freeze (or whatever would work) the excess skin and then use it for burn victims. Maybe that would lower the price.

    • @amylake9064
      @amylake9064 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It can be covered by insurance (completely or partially) if the skin is causing infection or irritation. If not, people just have to live with it if they can't afford it themselves.

    • @SgtPlmFry
      @SgtPlmFry 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree, it's very inspirational seeing people turn around their life so drastically. As for the dullness in their eyes, I didn't notice that, but it's a good point. If that's the case, you're very cognizant of emotional nuances.
      Though they lost so much weight, I can see why some might have not looked "happy."
      Maybe they're still dealing with the distress of the triggers that made them start the unhealthy eating habit in the first place (child's murder, spouse's death, sexual abuse...).
      Or maybe they felt like if they lost all this weight, why couldn't they have done it earlier. That might make them scold themselves for all the lost time. Like when you do something new you think you won't succeed at, and after you do it, you think, "Oh, that actually was easier than I thought."
      They could also be considering that even though their weight is lower now, their previous lifestyle caused lifelong health conditions - like diabetes and heart disease for example.
      Some of those might explain that bittersweet feeling you sensed in them. I'm glad they are taking steps in the right direction, but I hope they can deal with their other problems healthily too.

    To prevent that much weight gain people should take care of their mental and emotional health so when a bad moment happens they don't cope by mistreating their body with food, drugs, self mutilation, etc.
    Most of the time really unhealthy weight stories are related to depression, stress etc.
