  • The Zwift Chasing Tour is quickly becoming my favourite Zwift cycling race series! Visit chasingtour.com for more information or join the discord / chasing tour club on the Zwift companion app. I'm not being asked to promote this series, I just really enjoy it!
    This race was the equivalent "Zwift' version of Milano Sanremo - very tough but very enjoyable!
    Course: Big Foot Hills, Watopia
    Category B (C for this race)

    I like that you have different racing series(es?) than we usually hear about over here. You are so methodical that you will mentally outride and outwit everyone else until you strike fear into the heart of the real Tadej😂

      Haha thanks Linda, the real Tadej better watch out lol 😂 I like to try different series as there are some really good ones out there for all! Would be lovely to see you trying one of these, I think you’d enjoy it 😊

    Good call with pacing this race the way you did. Did CT series last year and started this year. These longer 1.5hr+ races it comes down to pacing, more than sprints/one ftp effort as for most zwift races. CT series is no joke. You have to the fitness and route know how just as in real world to do well with your strenghts/weakness. Are you doing the stage races too or just one days/classics races?

      Thanks very much, I really wanted to make sure I had enough in the tank for later on in the race! I enjoy these type of race tactics rather than the shorter sprint type races as it’s closer to real life racing. I will definitely do some of the stage races as well as the classics, it’d be cool to do the chasing pink series to see how I get on with that! Hopefully see you there 👍🏻

    Good racing Olly! Once FRR is done and if the weather hasn’t gotten any better for outdoor riding I think I’ll give this a go! Well done on the race think your point about sticking to that first group all depends on how you feel, you could have done a 30s push to get on that group, but would it have taken its toll on you and affected your efforts up Titans Grove and you would have gotten dropped anyway? It’s a fine line! I’m actually really glad I watched your video before my race this morning on nutrition, don’t get me wrong I’ve always got electrocyte drinks and some gels maybe some sweets, but I’m always like ok when I get to xKM I’ll pound back a gel or a handful of sweets or gulp my energy drink and sometimes feel quite bloated, but I did what you suggested and every 5-10 minutes have a drink or abit of a gel or a sweet, and I felt like I had much more consistent energy throughout the race, something I’m definitely going to be more conscious of going forward!

      Thanks Ray, good to hear from you - was super impressed by your FRR results, super strong mate!
      You’re spot on with the analysis, I wasn’t sure whether it’d be any good going full gas up Titans only to be dropped off up the Zwift KOM and get caught again..
      Glad the fuelling tip helped, I just find it keeps me going more than having a whole gel in one go, plus if I’m struggling in a race it gives me something to keep going for!
      Be good if I do see you in one of these - I wonder what category you’d be in.. probably B I’m guessing due to how strong you are, let me know if you decide to and I’ll try and do the same time 👍🏻

      @@notpogi Cheers mate felt like I’ve gotten stronger as the tour has gone on, which has resulted in a Zwift upgrade to A cat and FRR upgrade so racing against all As! GHT is a mix of Bs and As, I’m now in CRP which is just A cat, did my first race today and I’m now a small fish in a big pond, pure survival mode!
      Will look to do a little deloading once FRR is over as I think my body needs it, then will look at this tour so might see you in some races as you said it’s mass starts, keep up the strong riding!

      That’s absolutely superb mate, well deserved upgrade and just proves that doing something like this has massive fitness gains! You’re 100% right to have a little break after finishing, would love a pull around one of the CT races when you’re ready mate 👍🏻

    I just signed up to Chasing to add more options to my plate even though I can't make many of the times. But DAMN I'm going to try to make a few of the lunch time ones when I can!!!!

      Nice one!!! Would like to see you get involved in this mate, I’m sure you’d do very well 👌🏻I watched your recent big foot hills vid in prep for this one, you went so deep in that I almost didn’t attempt this 🤣

    Great racing mate, congrats on the top 10! I think you made the right decision not blowing yourself up trying to stay with a group that is too fast for you, that just makes a long race like this even harder. You managed to pick a good group that meant you were at a comfortable pace and probably enjoyed the race more because of it. Unlucky with the cramp at the end, you have got a decent sprint but wasn't able to use it.

      Thanks mate 👍🏻 I’m pretty happy with the top 10, although a bit gutted at the end - was one of those where you can just feel the cramp there so it was the best I had without completely stopping! I think doing more of these will help flush that out in the future. How are you doing mate? Are doing this next part of FRR?

      Glad you’re all good mate 👍🏻 I will be watching you so good luck for the next week or so! I’m going to give this one a miss, I’ll be doing a few of the CT series I think - just not in the right mindset for FRR right now as it’s so tough!

    Great Racing Ollie, a top 10 is always a good result! I've just signed up to it, it looks really good and will start getting the legs ready for the longer rides outside! I haven't been on as much as I'd like, bloody work getting in the way! lol
