      Another thing I intended to mention, is that when ending a tune, most drummers will play a bass drum and a crash as their final note. Tommy Ramone would often add the snare drum on top of everything else he would complete the song with.

    Finally someone talks about it! Tommy created a drumming style, and he didn't even actully play the drums, he knew so much about music in general and in case that you dont know, before the ramones he was already a producer an even worked with Jimi Hendrix in the Late sixties

    For anyone/everyone that likes the Ramones - watch End of the Century. One of the best music docs of all time.
    Pretty sure there’s a version of it on TH-cam.

    Nice video, short and interesting material about the legendary Tommy Ramone who really invented a new style. I learned to play the drums only to be able to play Ramones music. And I had to practice a lot to get to that level
    Long live the Ramones, long live rocknroll!

    In "end of the century" (the Ramones documentary movie) Dee Dee and I think also Johnny declined to give Tommy props as far as the creation of the music, when asked. I'm like "come on man!" Ramones are truly a band where each member was an equal contributor as far as their original lineup. I also love Tommy's big intro beats on songs like teenage lobotomy and Pinhead. I think these are like surf influenced?

    in retrospect, each core member of the ramones were much more than what they projected... johnny was more that just some loud downstroking player, dee dee was more than some bass player, joey was more than some estranged singer and tommy was more than a drummer... each one of them hand their roles in creating music and it all came together in the ramones. johnny was such a skilled guitarist, dee dee was an amazing and creative song writer, joey was just the overall face of punk and tommy was just a talented person in the music business.

    & you didn’t even mention the studio experience arc that stretched from HENDRIX to the REPLACEMENTS.

  • @rocketsauce420

    Great video. I’d love to see you break down Dale Crover from the Melvins or Derrick Bostrom from the meat puppets. Derrick bostrom had an iron left hand and could play eighth notes crazy fast. Check out the song “meat puppets” to hear an example of his speed on the hi hat.

    • @rocketsauce420
      @rocketsauce420 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think he might be cheating it and not hitting the hi hat when he hits the snare, which kind of makes it a different groove. I’ve been trying to decide this ever since i have been into the band. None the less, the meat puppets 1 album is a work of art i really hope you know about. Crazy psychedelic punk rock songs with satisfying chord changes and very creative riffs. And the vocals are almost more the emotion it is trying to convey rather than actual words. I really love this album.
