@@braketbro2318 its less for ranking up and more for farming the daily quest gems The deck is designed to win or lose turn 1 every game so that they can complete the "win/play x number of duels in ranked" quests which are the easiest and most automatable quests. This lets them get gems for basically no effort.

PSA for DD (for those that don't know). If you hold priority (e.g. with a Maxx C) for 1-2 minutes the bot will auto-surrender even if they are about to kill you. It does this as it's more time efficient for the bot to accept the loss and move onto the next match. This is for those that need 15 extra deck to be competitive.
Played against (probably) a bot with dd dynamite deck, as soon as he activated banquet I afk'd with my possible maxx c response until I lost to time out
The best thing is that Konami isn't mentioning this at all. They're releasing new cards in 28 hours and there's literally nobody who's going to go play them because they die to Dynamite FTK or Igknight FTK all the same.

the problem isn't that the deck is good. The problem is that they scoop when they go second which makes you feel robbed of the game you thought you were going to play. Even when it doesn't win it just ruins the ranked ladder by forcing players to try several times over to find a real opponent.
Yeah the deck causes issues whether it wins or loses. As bots increase people will play the game less/stop or even worse choose to bot themselves. This leads to even more bots. It's a vicious cycle that Konami has to address.
@@resphantom so either you go 2nd and you get ftked without getting to play, you go 2nd and they scoop to twin twister, you go 2nd and they fizzle (that rarely happens but I've seen it), you go 2nd with a 13 card extra deck and they scoop, or you go 1st and they scoop. In all of those situations there isn't any real gameplay.
For me I don't mind getting the free wins from bots surrendering. Allows me to farm quick Legacy tickets to try to get Legacy UR and SR cards for my random Legacy old school decks that I like making, that I don't want to waste resources crafting. Win-win in a way. lol For example, nearly completed my Kuribabylon deck. Need one more (UR) Kuribabylon, and a few SR card like one more Flute of Summoning Kuriboh and Five Star Twighlight. Without having to waste UR and SR CP.
The bots are programmed to auto-surrender whenever they lose the coin toss. It makes it even more annoying to face them because you don’t even get a chance to try to beat them.
@@EPIKGamess Some of the accounts running the deck are botted but some are also just players. The easiest way to win against them is to run a 13 card extra deck and if you can afford to do it running a 11 card extra deck instead.

This is just so painful, the state of the game. I really want it to be good, and have a fun experience with it, but then again... Konami not knowing how to balance a format and players literally breaking it faster than Konami can fix it is just a perfect storm of fucked up.

@@gunderson7739 Not so sure. Isn't Konami's source of income here the gem market? Considering most of those banquet players are bots, farm gems and sell those accounts, so that players can avoid the overpriced ingame market, seems pretty counterproductive to me.
PSA: There's a variation of this deck where they'll FTK you if you have more than 11 cards, as they can use a spell that makes you take 1000LP. To be safe from this, cap your extra deck at 11 cards.
I don't think it's really worth it (though I definitely would play 11 or less with any deck I could) because the bots are programmed to scoop if you have 13 or less anyway. I have never lost to the Contract play since going down to 13 cards.

@@charlesfort6602 that's been the case in the ocg for like a decade, at hundreds of best of one events, & that I assume is why the banlist was largely based on the OCG, they haven't introduced their first tailored Master Duel banlist for post launch yet, the timeframe for which was likely decided before the game launched, if they take much longer to release the first new banlist(3 months is the norm) or the next banlist is bad & doesn't address things well, then That is their fault.
You see, the goal is not necessarily to climb ranks, that's an extra, the actual goal is to cheese wins because you have a chance of getting a bit of gems when you win, so you can have bots dueling and occasionally the game will drop you a bit of gems. You can have a bot dueling with that deck so they keep farming gems that way.
It's actually funny cuz I've been running a 13 cards extra deck since the beginning of the game, so when people quit on me I just get confused. It's a "beginner friendly" version of Dragonmaid.
I have the same problem but for another reason, I play a pure Toon deck, but any time I open with table of contents and bookmark people assume it's the FTK exodia deck and scoop
I started playing Witchcrafter with no extra deck abandoning my beloved Solfachords and Traptrix for the moment. Since it’s hilarious how many bots there are it’s usually a free win deck (it’s very fun actually)
Witchcrafter is great fun, but putting in super poly with some general fusion monsters makes it a lot better since you generally can't run hand traps, lest you summon ash or maxx while milling your deck with reasoning or monster gate. Easy to keep under 10 extra deck cards though.
How has witchcrafter working for you. Also a traptrix main and I'm thinking of picking up witchcrafter. Still love traptrix tho don't get me wrong but been climbing ranks with traptrix for 3 whole seasons now so getting kinda stale
@@ririisu to me it's very nice: you can bait hand traps multiple times, destroy the cards on the field for free and negate all effects at once as quick effect once per turn, although it suffers heavily monster effect negations. The secret village on Spellcasters is just insane in this deck!
@@resphantom but it's also good to learn other decks, I did it with a lot of them (I restarted Yu-Gi-Oh few months ago and I picked up like 6-7 decks, like Relinquished, Destiny Board, Sky Striker, Infinitrack-Machina and I have a long list of others). Anyways I stick with my favourite ones, the two I mentioned and my beloved Weather Painters, although it's frustrating for the instasurrends and those bots :(

these aren't the perfect ones, those were found in the first month, apolousa into codebreakers into isolde ftk, ftk through maxx c/nibiru/ash, these are the ones bots can play
said this before, but it's gonna be epic and redpilled when they update the banlist and the only change is banquet banned, maxx c, vfd, herald, etc will not get touched, Konami: "We're banning banquet of millions to curtail the automated bots on the ladder" Playerbase: "update the banlist please we don't like playing against vfd and drytron yep negate turbo" Konami: "You can't program a bot to play virtual world/drytron fast enough to bot for gems, so we don't see a problem, cry about it."
The funny thing is that other TH-cam players had saw this deck being a problem sooner. While commenters had issues with drytron, and other decks that play heavy negates. That deck was hidden in the background.
I play Madolche and I set my extra deck to 13 after I went against 2 D.D players in a row then I never saw one ever again. Ranked was so infested with them but as soon as I started playing around it they just don't exist anymore ig.
They just need to tweak the duel rewards imo Sure one has a chance of getting bonus gems from winning. But what if instead of gems, you get UR/SR points for crafting cards instead? What if the odds of getting bonus gems from winning is based on how much commonly used cards there is in your deck(where the most commonly used decks almost never get the bonus rewards), so you are incentivised to play offmeta obscure rogue decks? The root cause is people wanting the gem rewards. The cards used are but a means to that end. If you ban the cards they'll find another deck that does the same thing.

As I said, they are only running FTK because winning has bonus rewards. Kind of a direct result of slow building gem economy and an unhealthy banlist for best of 1. People would rather daily grind playing mindless ftks rather than play a full game.
I just jumped on rank for the first time this season while watching this video. And of course it was a human playing Banquet. I know because they actually sat there contemplating their existence for 2 minutes. I assume because they saw my extra deck.
It boggles my mind that Konami didn’t bother to put simple free duel instead of rank only… plat has literally less than 10 types of decks and not going first is most likely a loss. I would love to see in game LFG tournament that allows only Millennium saga, GX saga, etc
What bugs me is people defending it. This game is pretty much a coin toss game. It's not about playing around your opponent. It about who can make the most unbreakable board first.
That's exactly what my main issue is with modern yugioh today, I miss having engaging duels where it was a battle of wits between me and my opponent, working with the hands we were dealt. Now it's just copy a meta decklist and cram a bunch of hand traps into your deck while praying you get to go first, or better yet, that you even get to play at all.
@@quattrokerbecs Pretty much this. I like my adamancipators, mostly because there's a good bit of chance with the strategy. But the deck I play the most is my dark lord deck. The trade in and out of monsters, spells, and traps. Then shaving off my own life points to dare my opponent to over step or underestimate. All the different layers make it that much more enjoyable.
I feel like the cared about community feedback the first 2 months... then they went back on their word for the end season ranked rewards and stopped responding since.

I wish it was rock paper scissors at least. Coin flip adds 0 agency and just a lot of feels bad when you lose it over and over. At least you can blame yourself a bit for picking rock when everyone's on that paper meta. Also it probably would help make more work for the bot makers since then they have to code in rps meta or if they're lazy then people can just metagame the bots into going 2nd and forcing them to lose more etc.
Bullshit, only apllied to hardcore non meta players. I always go second with my sky striker and pure zoo. The key is to play a deck which can play a lot of second turn card.

Tbh, I am concerned about MD playerbase. There are many people that play MD daily but there are also many people that just want to have a good time. MD doesn't have retention value aside of dailies which sometimes are done in 5 minutes thanks to all the bots. I guess the events once a month are good but banlists for alternative formats don't stay. I have fun with a new deck every season but what does it stop people that just want to play a deck to quit out of boredom. I just imagine how good it would be to have more content, serious balancing (not a half assed copy paste of banlist)... And all comes together with the gracious monetization they have given us. Wait did you really read all of this, it is just my copypasta though I am kind of serious :P
I love yugioh, I've played since the 5ds era and came back for master duel, but I really wish they'd keep the old contest formats for free duels at least. It makes me so sad that my ancient sacred wyvern + golden ladybug deck isn't playable without the n/r ruleset.
Platinum 1 is free play mode. With no way to rank down and no penalty it encourages you to just fuck about and do whatever you want. Which probably wouldn't happen if they had a regular free play mode....
Idk why but Konami just release games and never update them. It happened with duel generation on, then legacy of the duelist/ link evolution. If they do it’s like 3 years after the release when nobody cares about the game. The only game they regularly updated was duel links, which isn’t a fun game with how much grinding u had to do, or spend £300 for a meta deck since pulling cards was completely kick based. Master duel needs a banlist update and some sort of human verification to stop these stupid FTK bots.
just, give them april, ocg standard is 3 month formats, if they don't release a banlist this month then we have an issue, & this game is being updated, we had a new structure deck for the xyz event & we're getting new product in 2 days

This is what happens when you don't update the game nor change the ban list. Shits gotten so bad I went back to Duel links and have been having a better time.
The thing is the game is online. This isn't the standard in person style were it takes a while to gather the data. In an online environment the data needed to make changes can be gathered in a handful of days. It's why other online card games are constantly changing things up. They need to not only to fix problem cards and problem strategies, but also keep interest in the game.
Looking back at old yugioh history to remind me that back then I only ever got Banqueted once as I wasn't running into them too much and when I did I was running Nurse Burn that season so I cut my extra deck to just 5 cards.
This is the most "play 13 card extra and 15 handtraps" kind of thing ever. But honestly its stupid how many bots exist on ladder and they are clearly not limited to just 1 deck. Konami needs to prevent bots rather than ban bad FTK cards.
Best of 1 IS largely the problem. Frankly I see no difference functionally between facing these bots and running into a human that: sets 5 pass without opening HFD/LS, ultimateness without kaiju, buster/rhongo lock, etc. The only difference is how much time elapsed after realising I just need to scoop for next game. And besides, hasn't YGO evolved into a game of fostering artists to "draw the out" for a while now?
For those who curious: Bots always surrender if they don't get First Turn OR when the opponent plays a monstercard (atleast a bunch of Igknight FTKs are programmed that way). Konami has to adress this problem, easiest solving would be bann Cyber Stein, DD Dynamite, Banquett and other effortless FTK stuff bots can play without interaction with the other player.
igknights have like 5 ftks all running off of just isolde , I don't think they're really an issue though, all of them lose to ash/veiler/nibiru/imperm/gamma & in some cases belle & crow too unless a human is piloting them and teching anti hand trap lines, which are only a sometimes thing & do trade of consistency
Your solution does not address the elephant in the room - Bots. Tthe creator of the bot is already working on exodia and drytron herald bots. Any deck can be pre-programmed given enough time spent.
Also if you can hold priority (1-2 mins) then they will auto-surrender as well. Happened to me today where I was about to die off the 2 DD but held Maxx C for around 100 seconds and the bot surrendered.

Best of One is really not the problem here. Konami just needs to realize that this game should be balanced around the fact that you only play a single duel and create a banlist that reflects that. This is neither the TCG or the OCG, its an entirely new thing, and it can be all the better for it if they decide to take drastic measures to accomodate this new format.

It's much better to have an easy and digestible format where you don't have to spend 40 minutes dueling someone, you can just play a quick game and move on to do something else. This is especially true since the game is now available in mobile devices as well. There are many advantages to having a best of one structure and I completely agree with their decision, they just need to realize that the current banlist just doesn't work for it and they need to change it.
My concern though is that it's been almost 4 months and they've done nothing to address the issues regarding the the best of 1 format. If they haven't already, I worry that they won't at all.

The solution is to create a surrender match making system like in super auto pets. If you surrender 3 times in x amount of time you get moved to another lobby. It would remove bots from lobbies very quickly.

Writing this in Gold IV, after nearly being promoted to III from winning only against bots. I've seen less bots in Platinum the whole previous season than what I had today.

Really not cool, not even N/R is safe, cause there you just have 3 different decks that show up all the time, metalfoes, infinitrack and ritual. Choice is either deal with meta or get free wins from bots.
There might be no dd in gold, but it's infested with tri-brigade/appolusa/that-one-china-link-monster-i-forgot-the-name-of combo I really like yugioh, but these meta slaves really make this game really boring You either win because they surrender on the first turn, or you get otk'd on the second turn after they negate your entire deck
Banquet of millions just confuses me. Most broken cards you can see what they were going for but then they become broken through interactions with other cards. But i can not for the life of me think of a way BoM could be used in a fair way. did they just go;"Banishing both Extra decks, sure ship it" What was the thinking process here? Who greenlit this? What were they smoking? and can i have some?

You need to keep in mind that this is plat I. People have already reached the highest rank so there’s no incentive to stick around in a duel you don’t feel like playing. Konami really needs to add something to keep you playing when you reach plat I. The legend rank system in hearthstone could be one solution. Having better rewards than legacy packs could be another
It's definitely a factor, but as someone stated below it's prevalent in Gold. In 38 games since S4 reset I have seen 29% DD and 10.5% Igknight. Majority of those were in Gold.
Bots exist from bronze to plat. The whole ranking system has bots, cause its easy to do and benefits the botter. You don't even understand botting. More rewards on benefits botters. A bot can play 24/7 and gains value the more time it plays. What out preforms any human. As it saves TIME. Yeah it might waste some time in rare instances. However it makes its efficiency up in the long run.
The best of one format is toxic af. Every deck is either an ftk or making an unbeatable board first turn deck. No side decking makes those decks thrive.
These people literally get nothing for getting to plat 1 using this deck. You could literally be playing a deck you enjoy but people rather play this garbage.

It‘s funny how everyone is playing FTK decks now and then immediately surrenders when they don’t draw the necessary cards or go second. Like, I could probably go into ranked with any deck and win because my opponent surrenders in fear that I _might_ FTK them and ruin their precious rank.
Its really annoying to see DD dynamite deck Other FTK decks, like the igknight one, or the dino one, they have alot steps and requires practice. You also got more chance to stop them with a hand trap(they are still annoying tho since this is a BO1 game) But this is really on another level. Most deck dong even got the chance to stop them.

Already found some of this decks in silver and gold here in brazil.... And some more insane variations that force you lose by sending the enritr deck to graveyard in turn 2 but having 3 "super luck 7"
Banlist doesn't solve the issue. Bots are simply gonna switch to another deck like numerons OTK if that's the case. There are already numeron OTK bots out there. Banlist will only be a temp solution, we need a proper anticheat and anti bot measures
I want to be super fair to Konami even though THEY DO NOT DESERVE IT by saying... Players cause these problems more so than the game itself. Players build ftk decks and quit as soon as they draw a poop hand. Players build cheap decks that allow zero interaction. Players want to win at the cost of having fun and because nobody wants to have fun, nobody has fun.
to be both fair and damning, this is the natural consequence of having a gem system for unlocking cards. It creates an incentive where the duels don't actually matter, even the players using the bots aren't doing it for their W:L ratio, it's purely about making the most gems in the least time and not about playing the game at all.
That both A- fucks over some decks where extra deck space is already super tight and B- doesn’t guarantee you survive because they also often play triple Don Thousand which burns 1k to each which puts you back in kill range
@@Marqrk ig I've just never came up against someone using don thousand lmao. I've only ever seen them immediately scoop because I run all my decks with 13 extra deck cards. I get that some decks have a tight space already but a decent deck builder can usually find the right cuts.

I don’t know if it’s the abnormal time of day I play or something (I work third shift) but I can go up to an hour without finding a legitimate match. It’s just nothing but Bot FTKs. Friday and Saturday I went on a 15 win streak with Thunder Dragons, and the impressive thing about it wasn’t all of the tier 1-1.5 decks I absolutely demolished, it was going 15 rounds without running into an FTK. You know what ended my win streak? The Pendulum FTK. Then the next four matches were also FTKs. I just gave up after that.
I couldn't get into play 1 last season since I *accidentally got to plat 5 and spend 5 days climbing with traptrix so far got into plat 2. It's either igknight bot or dd bot, dd bot is easy counter just run 13 ex then you auto win, igknight one tho pray you draw hand trap. And from all human interaction, 50% were drytron.
@@Solonggulle any 2 igknights make isolde(droll & lock bird/activate dimension shifter here). tldr isolde ftk, long ver, isolde adds an igknight scale to hand, pendulum summon 2 igknights(nibiru them here), scales get renaud, isolde summons renaud from deck sending an equip spell renaud adds the equip to hand(stop this with ghost belle), scales blow up adding second renaud, renaud ss as tuner, halqifibrax(hit this with any negate hand trap) summons junk anchor(gnomaterial this), anchor makes road warrior, road warrior summons cyberstein, reprodocus is summoned pointing to cyber stein makes it a psychic, equip spell makes psychics free, stein effect(ghost ogre this) summons 4 fusion monsters that burn for 4k twice(anti burn stuff here)
The state of rank is absolutely garbage. It’s dynamite, cyberstein ftk, or drytron/eldlich/lyrilusc brigade. I’ve yet to encounter a casual deck in over a month. Can we get some new bans please cuz at this rate the game is going to crash and burn or everyone just going to play lobby games only
there will always be a meta, ban all the top tier 1 decks and we'll just have a new tier 1 you will be mad at, like utopia, adamancipator, sky strikers.
Hand destruction and seven are really good cards and also is card destruction and I'm running a version which I still have to get the rest of the cards for in master duel that uses no monsters whatsoever and I have one with it just not consistent yet got to still work out the Kings but I'm still not going to run any single monster in it
Yugioh players finally waking up and realizing what a ranked ladder means. It's not just climbing up in a bo1 format. It doesn't matter later if MD adds more ranks after Plat 1. That doesn't solve the issue. You don't just scoop if you fail the coin toss. You have a numerical rating system that gives you points based on the strength of your opponent. They've made a game that makes players feel good for progressing. When you make an accurate ranking system, players complain of losing since their rating is slow and it's too hard to accept that they suck.
If you don't run: - Eldlich - Numeron - D.D. FTK In plat expect to face these constantly. It's why many are staying in gold. Which is why you'll see more variety at lower tiers and no where near this category. If the players want to reach tier 1 other decks just get skipped.
Almost got promoted to plat 5 by doing nothing because of bots and thinking plat has more variety than gold. When I see plat 1, there is a higher chance of them playing random shit. In gold it's either meta decks with questionable decission or anime decks, especially Blue-Eyes.

The deck is designed to win or lose turn 1 every game so that they can complete the "win/play x number of duels in ranked" quests which are the easiest and most automatable quests. This lets them get gems for basically no effort.

Before the season turned over, I had a series of matches where, out of 16 matches, 12 of them were DD dynamite decks

Since S4 start I have seen 29% DD (11 out of 38 matches) and 10.5% Igknight FTK (4 out of 38) from Gold 5.

PSA for DD (for those that don't know).
If you hold priority (e.g. with a Maxx C) for 1-2 minutes the bot will auto-surrender even if they are about to kill you.
It does this as it's more time efficient for the bot to accept the loss and move onto the next match.
This is for those that need 15 extra deck to be competitive.

The best thing is that Konami isn't mentioning this at all. They're releasing new cards in 28 hours and there's literally nobody who's going to go play them because they die to Dynamite FTK or Igknight FTK all the same.

the problem isn't that the deck is good. The problem is that they scoop when they go second which makes you feel robbed of the game you thought you were going to play. Even when it doesn't win it just ruins the ranked ladder by forcing players to try several times over to find a real opponent.
Yeah the deck causes issues whether it wins or loses.
As bots increase people will play the game less/stop or even worse choose to bot themselves.
This leads to even more bots.
It's a vicious cycle that Konami has to address.

In all of those situations there isn't any real gameplay.

For example, nearly completed my Kuribabylon deck. Need one more (UR) Kuribabylon, and a few SR card like one more Flute of Summoning Kuriboh and Five Star Twighlight. Without having to waste UR and SR CP.

PSA: There's a variation of this deck where they'll FTK you if you have more than 11 cards, as they can use a spell that makes you take 1000LP. To be safe from this, cap your extra deck at 11 cards.

I don't think it's really worth it (though I definitely would play 11 or less with any deck I could) because the bots are programmed to scoop if you have 13 or less anyway. I have never lost to the Contract play since going down to 13 cards.

@@charlesfort6602 that's been the case in the ocg for like a decade, at hundreds of best of one events, & that I assume is why the banlist was largely based on the OCG, they haven't introduced their first tailored Master Duel banlist for post launch yet, the timeframe for which was likely decided before the game launched, if they take much longer to release the first new banlist(3 months is the norm) or the next banlist is bad & doesn't address things well, then That is their fault.
You see, the goal is not necessarily to climb ranks, that's an extra, the actual goal is to cheese wins because you have a chance of getting a bit of gems when you win, so you can have bots dueling and occasionally the game will drop you a bit of gems. You can have a bot dueling with that deck so they keep farming gems that way.
The fact that they might have to limit D.D. Dynamite in Master Duel is the dumbest shit 🤣

I started playing Witchcrafter with no extra deck abandoning my beloved Solfachords and Traptrix for the moment. Since it’s hilarious how many bots there are it’s usually a free win deck (it’s very fun actually)
Witchcrafter is great fun, but putting in super poly with some general fusion monsters makes it a lot better since you generally can't run hand traps, lest you summon ash or maxx while milling your deck with reasoning or monster gate. Easy to keep under 10 extra deck cards though.
How has witchcrafter working for you. Also a traptrix main and I'm thinking of picking up witchcrafter. Still love traptrix tho don't get me wrong but been climbing ranks with traptrix for 3 whole seasons now so getting kinda stale

@@ririisu to me it's very nice: you can bait hand traps multiple times, destroy the cards on the field for free and negate all effects at once as quick effect once per turn, although it suffers heavily monster effect negations. The secret village on Spellcasters is just insane in this deck!
@@resphantom but it's also good to learn other decks, I did it with a lot of them (I restarted Yu-Gi-Oh few months ago and I picked up like 6-7 decks, like Relinquished, Destiny Board, Sky Striker, Infinitrack-Machina and I have a long list of others). Anyways I stick with my favourite ones, the two I mentioned and my beloved Weather Painters, although it's frustrating for the instasurrends and those bots :(

I play Madolche and I set my extra deck to 13 after I went against 2 D.D players in a row then I never saw one ever again. Ranked was so infested with them but as soon as I started playing around it they just don't exist anymore ig.
There's a good Chance many of the Scoopers are just Bots since they auto scoop when going 2nd

Sure one has a chance of getting bonus gems from winning. But what if instead of gems, you get UR/SR points for crafting cards instead?
What if the odds of getting bonus gems from winning is based on how much commonly used cards there is in your deck(where the most commonly used decks almost never get the bonus rewards), so you are incentivised to play offmeta obscure rogue decks?
The root cause is people wanting the gem rewards. The cards used are but a means to that end. If you ban the cards they'll find another deck that does the same thing.

I just jumped on rank for the first time this season while watching this video. And of course it was a human playing Banquet. I know because they actually sat there contemplating their existence for 2 minutes. I assume because they saw my extra deck.
It boggles my mind that Konami didn’t bother to put simple free duel instead of rank only… plat has literally less than 10 types of decks and not going first is most likely a loss. I would love to see in game LFG tournament that allows only Millennium saga, GX saga, etc
What bugs me is people defending it. This game is pretty much a coin toss game. It's not about playing around your opponent. It about who can make the most unbreakable board first.
That's exactly what my main issue is with modern yugioh today, I miss having engaging duels where it was a battle of wits between me and my opponent, working with the hands we were dealt. Now it's just copy a meta decklist and cram a bunch of hand traps into your deck while praying you get to go first, or better yet, that you even get to play at all.
@@quattrokerbecs Pretty much this. I like my adamancipators, mostly because there's a good bit of chance with the strategy. But the deck I play the most is my dark lord deck.
The trade in and out of monsters, spells, and traps. Then shaving off my own life points to dare my opponent to over step or underestimate. All the different layers make it that much more enjoyable.
I feel like the cared about community feedback the first 2 months... then they went back on their word for the end season ranked rewards and stopped responding since.
I consider this to be a commentary on the Yugioh card game as a whole, in which case this is utterly embarrassing

I wish it was rock paper scissors at least. Coin flip adds 0 agency and just a lot of feels bad when you lose it over and over. At least you can blame yourself a bit for picking rock when everyone's on that paper meta. Also it probably would help make more work for the bot makers since then they have to code in rps meta or if they're lazy then people can just metagame the bots into going 2nd and forcing them to lose more etc.
Bullshit, only apllied to hardcore non meta players. I always go second with my sky striker and pure zoo. The key is to play a deck which can play a lot of second turn card.

Tbh, I am concerned about MD playerbase. There are many people that play MD daily but there are also many people that just want to have a good time. MD doesn't have retention value aside of dailies which sometimes are done in 5 minutes thanks to all the bots. I guess the events once a month are good but banlists for alternative formats don't stay. I have fun with a new deck every season but what does it stop people that just want to play a deck to quit out of boredom. I just imagine how good it would be to have more content, serious balancing (not a half assed copy paste of banlist)... And all comes together with the gracious monetization they have given us.

I love yugioh, I've played since the 5ds era and came back for master duel, but I really wish they'd keep the old contest formats for free duels at least. It makes me so sad that my ancient sacred wyvern + golden ladybug deck isn't playable without the n/r ruleset.
Platinum 1 is free play mode. With no way to rank down and no penalty it encourages you to just fuck about and do whatever you want. Which probably wouldn't happen if they had a regular free play mode....

Idk why but Konami just release games and never update them. It happened with duel generation on, then legacy of the duelist/ link evolution. If they do it’s like 3 years after the release when nobody cares about the game. The only game they regularly updated was duel links, which isn’t a fun game with how much grinding u had to do, or spend £300 for a meta deck since pulling cards was completely kick based. Master duel needs a banlist update and some sort of human verification to stop these stupid FTK bots.
just, give them april, ocg standard is 3 month formats, if they don't release a banlist this month then we have an issue, & this game is being updated, we had a new structure deck for the xyz event & we're getting new product in 2 days

The thing is the game is online. This isn't the standard in person style were it takes a while to gather the data. In an online environment the data needed to make changes can be gathered in a handful of days. It's why other online card games are constantly changing things up. They need to not only to fix problem cards and problem strategies, but also keep interest in the game.
Looking back at old yugioh history to remind me that back then I only ever got Banqueted once as I wasn't running into them too much and when I did I was running Nurse Burn that season so I cut my extra deck to just 5 cards.
This is unreal, I rarely ever play against them, my life would be so free and easy if i could just play 10 card extra and win like that

Best of 1 IS largely the problem. Frankly I see no difference functionally between facing these bots and running into a human that: sets 5 pass without opening HFD/LS, ultimateness without kaiju, buster/rhongo lock, etc. The only difference is how much time elapsed after realising I just need to scoop for next game.
And besides, hasn't YGO evolved into a game of fostering artists to "draw the out" for a while now?
For those who curious: Bots always surrender if they don't get First Turn OR when the opponent plays a monstercard (atleast a bunch of Igknight FTKs are programmed that way).
Konami has to adress this problem, easiest solving would be bann Cyber Stein, DD Dynamite, Banquett and other effortless FTK stuff bots can play without interaction with the other player.
igknights have like 5 ftks all running off of just isolde , I don't think they're really an issue though, all of them lose to ash/veiler/nibiru/imperm/gamma & in some cases belle & crow too unless a human is piloting them and teching anti hand trap lines, which are only a sometimes thing & do trade of consistency
Your solution does not address the elephant in the room - Bots. Tthe creator of the bot is already working on exodia and drytron herald bots. Any deck can be pre-programmed given enough time spent.
Also if you can hold priority (1-2 mins) then they will auto-surrender as well.
Happened to me today where I was about to die off the 2 DD but held Maxx C for around 100 seconds and the bot surrendered.

Best of One is really not the problem here. Konami just needs to realize that this game should be balanced around the fact that you only play a single duel and create a banlist that reflects that. This is neither the TCG or the OCG, its an entirely new thing, and it can be all the better for it if they decide to take drastic measures to accomodate this new format.

It's much better to have an easy and digestible format where you don't have to spend 40 minutes dueling someone, you can just play a quick game and move on to do something else. This is especially true since the game is now available in mobile devices as well. There are many advantages to having a best of one structure and I completely agree with their decision, they just need to realize that the current banlist just doesn't work for it and they need to change it.
My concern though is that it's been almost 4 months and they've done nothing to address the issues regarding the the best of 1 format. If they haven't already, I worry that they won't at all.
I don't think I will be healthy for the game even this subhuman dd deck is spread like a cancer bo3 is just too long it almost like you play 10+5 rapid chess bo3

@C.O.V.I.D. Certificate of Vaccination ID Yeah so I can spend an hour on 1-2 games instead of 20 minutes. Also if it was BO3 only then all the offmeta/rogue decks are pretty much dead in the water and ladder becomes arguably even worse than it is right now.
The solution is to create a surrender match making system like in super auto pets. If you surrender 3 times in x amount of time you get moved to another lobby. It would remove bots from lobbies very quickly.

I think 80% of ftks would be fixed if konami just axed the insane amount of draw spells currently in the game

Writing this in Gold IV, after nearly being promoted to III from winning only against bots. I've seen less bots in Platinum the whole previous season than what I had today.

Really not cool, not even N/R is safe, cause there you just have 3 different decks that show up all the time, metalfoes, infinitrack and ritual. Choice is either deal with meta or get free wins from bots.
There might be no dd in gold, but it's infested with tri-brigade/appolusa/that-one-china-link-monster-i-forgot-the-name-of combo

Most broken cards you can see what they were going for but then they become broken through interactions with other cards.
But i can not for the life of me think of a way BoM could be used in a fair way. did they just go;"Banishing both Extra decks, sure ship it"

You need to keep in mind that this is plat I. People have already reached the highest rank so there’s no incentive to stick around in a duel you don’t feel like playing. Konami really needs to add something to keep you playing when you reach plat I. The legend rank system in hearthstone could be one solution. Having better rewards than legacy packs could be another

I started playing Gold V after the ladder reset yesterday and 3/4 of my opponents were Ignite FTK
It's definitely a factor, but as someone stated below it's prevalent in Gold.
In 38 games since S4 reset I have seen 29% DD and 10.5% Igknight.
Majority of those were in Gold.
Bots exist from bronze to plat. The whole ranking system has bots, cause its easy to do and benefits the botter. You don't even understand botting. More rewards on benefits botters. A bot can play 24/7 and gains value the more time it plays. What out preforms any human. As it saves TIME. Yeah it might waste some time in rare instances. However it makes its efficiency up in the long run.
I like to imagine the creatures that unironically play this deck are some pale, unwashed monsters that haven't seen the sun in years.
The first duel vs that igknight player is just a different bot doing an FTK right now lol
The best of one format is toxic af. Every deck is either an ftk or making an unbeatable board first turn deck. No side decking makes those decks thrive.
I have spent most of the last 2 weeks playing the N/R festival that when I played ranked yesterday, I was dumbfounded how bad it has gotten.
These people literally get nothing for getting to plat 1 using this deck. You could literally be playing a deck you enjoy but people rather play this garbage.

You just guaranteed to win turn 1 unless they have an out. Just run the bot for like 10 games and you finish your daily quests and log out with your free gems

It‘s funny how everyone is playing FTK decks now and then immediately surrenders when they don’t draw the necessary cards or go second.
Like, I could probably go into ranked with any deck and win because my opponent surrenders in fear that I _might_ FTK them and ruin their precious rank.
The FTK decks are all pre-programmed bots to scoop on losing coin-toss, not because the bots are "scared".

Other FTK decks, like the igknight one, or the dino one, they have alot steps and requires practice. You also got more chance to stop them with a hand trap(they are still annoying tho since this is a BO1 game)
But this is really on another level. Most deck dong even got the chance to stop them.

Already found some of this decks in silver and gold here in brazil.... And some more insane variations that force you lose by sending the enritr deck to graveyard in turn 2 but having 3 "super luck 7"

Banlist doesn't solve the issue. Bots are simply gonna switch to another deck like numerons OTK if that's the case. There are already numeron OTK bots out there. Banlist will only be a temp solution, we need a proper anticheat and anti bot measures

I want to be super fair to Konami even though THEY DO NOT DESERVE IT by saying... Players cause these problems more so than the game itself. Players build ftk decks and quit as soon as they draw a poop hand. Players build cheap decks that allow zero interaction. Players want to win at the cost of having fun and because nobody wants to have fun, nobody has fun.
to be both fair and damning, this is the natural consequence of having a gem system for unlocking cards. It creates an incentive where the duels don't actually matter, even the players using the bots aren't doing it for their W:L ratio, it's purely about making the most gems in the least time and not about playing the game at all.
So… do we need to make a million’s deck and invade the OCG until they make a emergency ban list?

That both A- fucks over some decks where extra deck space is already super tight and B- doesn’t guarantee you survive because they also often play triple Don Thousand which burns 1k to each which puts you back in kill range

I've only ever seen them immediately scoop because I run all my decks with 13 extra deck cards.
I get that some decks have a tight space already but a decent deck builder can usually find the right cuts.

I don’t know if it’s the abnormal time of day I play or something (I work third shift) but I can go up to an hour without finding a legitimate match. It’s just nothing but Bot FTKs. Friday and Saturday I went on a 15 win streak with Thunder Dragons, and the impressive thing about it wasn’t all of the tier 1-1.5 decks I absolutely demolished, it was going 15 rounds without running into an FTK.
You know what ended my win streak? The Pendulum FTK. Then the next four matches were also FTKs. I just gave up after that.
I couldn't get into play 1 last season since I *accidentally got to plat 5 and spend 5 days climbing with traptrix so far got into plat 2.
It's either igknight bot or dd bot, dd bot is easy counter just run 13 ex then you auto win, igknight one tho pray you draw hand trap.
And from all human interaction, 50% were drytron.

long ver, isolde adds an igknight scale to hand, pendulum summon 2 igknights(nibiru them here), scales get renaud, isolde summons renaud from deck sending an equip spell renaud adds the equip to hand(stop this with ghost belle), scales blow up adding second renaud, renaud ss as tuner, halqifibrax(hit this with any negate hand trap) summons junk anchor(gnomaterial this), anchor makes road warrior, road warrior summons cyberstein, reprodocus is summoned pointing to cyber stein makes it a psychic, equip spell makes psychics free, stein effect(ghost ogre this) summons 4 fusion monsters that burn for 4k twice(anti burn stuff here)

The state of rank is absolutely garbage. It’s dynamite, cyberstein ftk, or drytron/eldlich/lyrilusc brigade. I’ve yet to encounter a casual deck in over a month. Can we get some new bans please cuz at this rate the game is going to crash and burn or everyone just going to play lobby games only
there will always be a meta, ban all the top tier 1 decks and we'll just have a new tier 1 you will be mad at, like utopia, adamancipator, sky strikers.

Hand destruction and seven are really good cards and also is card destruction and I'm running a version which I still have to get the rest of the cards for in master duel that uses no monsters whatsoever and I have one with it just not consistent yet got to still work out the Kings but I'm still not going to run any single monster in it

Yugioh players finally waking up and realizing what a ranked ladder means. It's not just climbing up in a bo1 format. It doesn't matter later if MD adds more ranks after Plat 1. That doesn't solve the issue. You don't just scoop if you fail the coin toss. You have a numerical rating system that gives you points based on the strength of your opponent. They've made a game that makes players feel good for progressing. When you make an accurate ranking system, players complain of losing since their rating is slow and it's too hard to accept that they suck.
So this is where the DD bots at while i'm trying to get to plat 1 and find 0 DD bots and literally hundreds of Tri Brigade Lyrilusc and Drytrons ;-;
These ftk decks are a lot more fun than summoning 100 monsters to set up 3 monsters that negate and locking the other player out from doing anything
This is how I feel. The end is the same: no interaction. But at least i dont have to wait 5 hours for them to finish. Here it's a quick death
If you don't run:
- Eldlich
- Numeron
- D.D. FTK
In plat expect to face these constantly. It's why many are staying in gold. Which is why you'll see more variety at lower tiers and no where near this category. If the players want to reach tier 1 other decks just get skipped.

Almost got promoted to plat 5 by doing nothing because of bots and thinking plat has more variety than gold. When I see plat 1, there is a higher chance of them playing random shit. In gold it's either meta decks with questionable decission or anime decks, especially Blue-Eyes.
