i understand why konami did it like this though, since in duel links there was a event where you could only get gems if you (or your team) WIN duels....but because of that, the event turned into the most toxic and tryhardy thing you could ever witness, so when the event came back next time, they changed it so that you get the gems just from playing, and they basically kept it like that for all future events and got carried over to MD here
Duel links also started with the self-ftk thing, specially in the Duelist Kingdom event, because there you didn't lost ranks or anything, and earned half of the event points in a loss
@@isaacsantos6200 personally i think the best way to solve this issues is if you give the players two sets of rewards, one for just playing , and another for actually winning, this way you wont discourage players who self doubt themselves from joining the event in first place, and also give players an incentive to actually try and win

If the difference between two set of rewards is not much that people doesn't care, then people will do the self-ftk, and if the difference is quite significant then people will come back to the toxic-tryhard mode. This is my favourite thing about this event. I've run into some SelFTKers that are totally down for it, too. They'll stop trying to kill themselves and just let you heal them for the gain LP mission gems.
Don't forget "Dark Snake Syndrome" and "Prime Material Dragon". Not only do you heal them, but you also get to test what the LP limit in Master Duel is.
This gives me an idea for a really dumb event. The main point is to win by losing. Both players try to reduce there LP to zero while trying to keep the oppents up. It could create some really crazy board states

This idea is actually perfect. The deck is fast against real decks and always wins vs self kill decks which are most of the ladder So you get medals faster then killing yourself and also deny self killers of points when they concede 11/10
There should be some kind of ladder in the event. Just a hidden match-making mechanic. nothing that is actually tracked by anything. That way these self-loosing decks can all play against each other, the try-hards can play against each other, and me with my ungabunga Neo-Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon Turbo deck can play vs other random rouge stuff and get my 4x6500 ATK clips.
This is a based not grief deck if you think about it By more people playing this deck , it encourages more players to actually duel in the event rather then selftk. Your life is valuable, you shouldn't burn it away for any reason. You should enjoy life. This is a therapy deck
People self FTK because they don't have a good deck though, not because they don't want to play, but because their only other option is a frankly shit loaner deck that gives half the points or a half-assed regular deck that is going to lose anyway against people that actually have gems to make a good one. All this deck does is waste the time of innocent people that want to farm the gems so they can actually play and aren't wasting anyone's time. If you have a real deck and you're salty about me giving you 500 medals in seconds I dunno what to tell you. If I see this deck and it goes too long I just scoop. I'm just tryin to survive out here with the gem economy and build lyrillusc or something.

You need like 200 Wins to get all the rewards if one "normal" games goes for like 5min it still takes you around 17h to get all the rewards. This is assuming ofc that you only get straight wins. So obv ppl wenn for a much faster way.

The way the festival is set up is similar to the last video game, Legacy of the Duelist. There, the fastest way to unlock cards was to surrender to the cpu. If you won, you'd get between 1k and 1500 points and 3 cards from the cpu's deck. If you lost for any reason, you got between 500 and 800 points and 1 card. Konami wants you to play but they want the grind to be miserable.
I assembled a Ancient Warriors / Heroic Gift / Muscle Medic deck just for this event and always go 2nd, If it's a self-burn deck I just heal them to full until they surrender, if its an actual player looking forward to have fun with the event, then I play the Ancient Warrior part of my deck since its one of the best decks to go 2nd

They shoulda done the system like Vanguard Zero. You only get points or in this case medals for every 500 LP. So like 20 medals for 500. 1000LP=10 medals. It really discourages the farmers

I jebaited a guy who tried healing me like this. He brought me up to 14,000 LP, so I synchro'd into a four beater Quasar and killed him. He must have been tilted. I was rolling.
I had Self FTK decks show up alot since im silver but decided to bring endyminion for the sole sake to negate their Spells and Monsters from doing LP cost/damage so i can do my long, tedious, slow plays so they can die from my monsters. Its what they want. Just very slowly : )
I have not yet seen a more charitable duelist, truly a man of the people. In all seriousness, amazing that you're playing this. People shouldn't be deliberately losing to gain rewards while other people are still trying to actually have a fun game.
Why? It helps them out even more now that wins are 500 medals. Most people playing self FTK are like me and can't make a great xyz deck, so rather than inevitably losing over a long time I just make a deck that loses in a short amount of time. It takes me 2 turns at most unless playing a deck like this in which case I scoop. If you're playing a real deck it's over in no time and then you can requeue into someone else. I've never seen people saltier about winning till this event lmao. I'd love to build a deck for it but the gem income ain't there and even if it were it's a format that will only last a week. Self FTK is a symptom, not the problem.
I feel there is more fun in actually attempting to win a game, even if the odds aren't in your favour, and just giving it a go. My opinion ofc, so maybe other people's idea if fun is to get the rewards. Nothing wrong with that. I just think as much as it saves time for people just going for rewards, it wastes the time of people looking to improve their skills by attempting a different style of dueling. I'm less bothered about the outcome of a duel and more how it got there, is a good way of explaining why I feel this way.
@@martinnielsen2470 Well IMO I wouldn't be helping them improve very much with a meh deck anyway. I used the rewards and was able to build pretty much all of lyrilusc with what I had by the time I got a few thousand in so I'd say it was worth it. There's a lot of decks that make life annoying for the opponent that aren't self-kill anyway, I don't get mad at those people just cause they don't play the normal way. IMO this is just a natural consequence of it being basically a gacha to build more decks...if the loaner deck at least gave full points I probably would have tried that but it doesn't for some reason.
Most decks have some kind of interaction that's worth knowing about. Even 'meh' decks which are far from competitive could be consistent but weak, or strong 1 in 20 hands. Could be useful if you come up against it. I get your point though. Master Duel is a slow game to build certain decks and some people don't have the time for that. I've got like 40 minutes per session (laptop) but I'm very happy with just one or two decks, so I don't feel the rush for deck-building that others do.
Okay, I've been playing this for about an hour. It was one duel. Did you know LP went past 100K? I figured for sure they'd stop at 99,999 but the text actually just gets smaller.
Update: The selftk has been nerfed into the ground. Konami are now rewarding players with 500 medals for a win over 100.

In all seriousness, amazing that you're playing this. People shouldn't be deliberately losing to gain rewards while other people are still trying to actually have a fun game.
Why? It helps them out even more now that wins are 500 medals. Most people playing self FTK are like me and can't make a great xyz deck, so rather than inevitably losing over a long time I just make a deck that loses in a short amount of time. It takes me 2 turns at most unless playing a deck like this in which case I scoop. If you're playing a real deck it's over in no time and then you can requeue into someone else. I've never seen people saltier about winning till this event lmao.
I'd love to build a deck for it but the gem income ain't there and even if it were it's a format that will only last a week. Self FTK is a symptom, not the problem.
I feel there is more fun in actually attempting to win a game, even if the odds aren't in your favour, and just giving it a go. My opinion ofc, so maybe other people's idea if fun is to get the rewards. Nothing wrong with that. I just think as much as it saves time for people just going for rewards, it wastes the time of people looking to improve their skills by attempting a different style of dueling. I'm less bothered about the outcome of a duel and more how it got there, is a good way of explaining why I feel this way.
@@martinnielsen2470 Well IMO I wouldn't be helping them improve very much with a meh deck anyway. I used the rewards and was able to build pretty much all of lyrilusc with what I had by the time I got a few thousand in so I'd say it was worth it.
There's a lot of decks that make life annoying for the opponent that aren't self-kill anyway, I don't get mad at those people just cause they don't play the normal way. IMO this is just a natural consequence of it being basically a gacha to build more decks...if the loaner deck at least gave full points I probably would have tried that but it doesn't for some reason.
Most decks have some kind of interaction that's worth knowing about. Even 'meh' decks which are far from competitive could be consistent but weak, or strong 1 in 20 hands. Could be useful if you come up against it. I get your point though. Master Duel is a slow game to build certain decks and some people don't have the time for that. I've got like 40 minutes per session (laptop) but I'm very happy with just one or two decks, so I don't feel the rush for deck-building that others do.
