- Jason McElwain’s story is one of trial, triumph, and inspiration. Diagnosed with Autism at a young age, Jason’s love for basketball grew throughout his youth, leading him to serve as the student manager for his beloved Greece Athena High School. But one night in 2006, everything changed. Jason, in his first and only appearance for the team, caught fire, scoring twenty points in just six minutes. His performance captivated the crowd and inspired a nation, and thirteen years later, it’s lead to Jason returning to the game, but this time as a coach. This is the Jason McElwain story.
He talked more about his teams success than his great game. J-Mac is a winner of the highest order.
No doubt, J-Mac, put some respect on his name. God bless him.
He should be in Congress may actually get stuff done with him there
Totally agree
He’s more articulate than 80% of the population.
Seriously wow amazing
Just listening to the guy, you know he understands a lot more then a lot of people
Couldn't help but hear the man is a volunteer. He coaches just as much as anyone else. Seems pretty integral to the staff and team so pay the man.
He could get some sort of government disability, so he might not be too worried about it. Maybe not though. Hell, I have no idea.
I was thinking the same thing! Pay that man!
@@taco2947 my sisters best friend is his neighbor. New York State has numerous things set up for adults with disabilities plus even the assistant coaches on varsity are unpaid. Only head coaches in New York State get paid and it's a fixed amount..it was a rule put in place to avoid coaches always switching schools..so essentially now it only happens in private schools. Unless that changed recently but. It's dumb but so is everything New York State does.
@@mazzle927 Same in Michigan pretty much! Most Head Coaching jobs hardly pay anything at all! 95% of Public School Head Coaches in Michigan work for the school as some sort of teacher so they can get paid and coach! They get a small bonus on their teacher salary if theyre a coach but its hardly anything at all. I remember my Football coach telling me how he spends more out of his pocket for our team than he ends up making for being a head coach!
JV assistant coach is usually unpaid
Disability? No. Kids, That man right there is a super hero.
Well said man. I feel like special people are usually the nicest. Normal people need to take some fucking notes
@@LeftBehind666 your comment had good intentions. But you just said that anyone who has a disability is not normal. So ya kinda just ruined that
@@brandonwootten Not really, I'm disabled. I know I'm not normal. Doesn't mean it's a negative.
@@brandonwootten stop trying to pick apart what people say fucking keyboard warrior
@@GT-is5ro wtf Jason has accomplished so much despite his disability and you come here trying to discredit someone acknowledging it. Good job I guess😂
God bless this man, his 6 3s will in that game is legendary achievement, and he continues this trend. U have proved everyone wrong, a true hero in my books
He referred to his teams success more than his amazing 4 minutes

Disability? Yeah he got dis ability to shoot some hoops
Gilbert Arenas brought me here. J-Mac is HIM!!
He seems totally normally tbh.
Looks like the coach missed a great player his entire high school career because he was a little different
He seems pretty high functioning
He sounds like a white Obama
