Hoping to get you to the farm in two years. Just bought a farm last year that has a few years left in crp. So the year or so before it's up would like some advice on how to maximize the acres. Jeff I have been using your buckwheat strategy for years now. My only concern is that you spray the buckwheat while it is in full bloom. I just knocked down half of mine today (8-4)
    and there was tons of pollinators on it. I stopped and will finish just before dark. I have never had any problems with it growing back if I double roll it. I'm not anti round up, but feel we need to be responsible as to when and where we use it. Pollinators are having a hard time and we don't need to be adding to the problem.

    I love all your videos Jeff spend more time watching your videos then on my college work!😂 I had a question about the buckwheat i noticed in the beginning of the video you said if you’re just starting a food plot you can’t use buckwheat as a cover crop you have to just plant the brassica and WHS blend right in to the ground. So the question is can you use buckwheat the following year or what? Do plots have to be established before you can use buckwheat to aid?

    Trying the no till this year. Its a little tough with a member of the family who controls the keys to the property to follow your methods. He insists to still plow and disc.
    So far the little plot we are using the buckwheat on has been having alot of grazing pressure and may be only knee high.
    We are expanding plots though for the next year and still adding some. In September we intend to plant rye over our whs blend, but also in a .5 acre plot plant clover.

    Hi Jeff and Dylan, Have you guys ever done a video about glyphosate resistance weeds? I maintain about four acres of food plots and all of them are getting completely overrun by water hemp.. which apparently is also a big problem for farmers because of its resistance to glyphosate and outlasting pre-emergent chemicals. Curious how to prevent this from happening next year and whether I can salvage some plots this year. Is there a summer maintenance video for weed control. I have plots of corn, soybeans, clover, Milo, turnips, oats.

I frost seeded clover plots into the my no till brassica blends from last fall. They are hammering it this summer and I am holding the bucks I had all fall. Would you till under the white clover and plant brassica or would you leave it as clover or would you spray it and broadcast the brassica mix?

  • @michaelrugar4117
    @michaelrugar4117 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Jeff when you say spread winter rye is that on the brassicas side as well, deer have hammered my brassicas every fall leaving me with bare soil in the spring.

    • @Jefflowe16
      @Jefflowe16 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      From watching previous videos i think he would say only add winter rye to brassica if you are giving up on the brassica. So if the brassica is eaten down to dirt then you could plant winter rye as a replacement crop, not “in addition to” the brassica since the brassica won’t survive with the rye competition.
