Dude, if that boat has been setting 2 years, I'd replace that water pump impeller, only takes about 20 minutes. I'd check lower unit gear oil level, and color, to see if it has water in it. Also, can't remember if that has Motorola, or Wabash ignition box, but they are both unforgiving to low battery voltage. Running them below 10 volts can take them out, and can't remember if they put the clipper switch on that model or not, but it was notorious for smoking ignition box on old Johnson, evenrude motors., they sent out a service bulletin to remove them, looks like a wad of chewing gum with 2 wires comming out of it. Do not run that motor without flush muffs on it, will smoke that water pump impeller in about 5 seconds. I personally liked that old triumph motor design, but some argued it was prone to running lean, and taking out one cylinder. Check your wiring harness for deteriation, sounds like you've lost fire. If your not out of gas. Or water in tank. Always when buying an old 2 stroke, pull all plugs open throttle, and run a compression check., and look for aluminum on plugs.

but yet bass have destroyed many of fisheries, nasty little fish that have destroyed alot of trout and salmon spots in North America.
@Liberty or Death Smallmouth Buffalo are native. Common Carp have been here so long that they are considered naturalized now. Asian Carp are invasive and the ones that are causing problems. Carp don't harm bass populations. In fact, all of the best bass lakes in the country are also the best carp lakes. Lake Fork and Dale Hollow for example.
@Liberty or Death It's good for fisherman and bass when not all of the bass fry survive. If they all did, you would have a pond/lake/river full of undersized fish because there aren't enough baitfish to keep them all alive.

Even if the carp are messing with the bass spawn , they will sort themself out , as nature always has , sick that man wants to play god on every creature in this world , also is one of the most sportiest fish to catch , americans who go full pride with bass fishing belittle carp anglers , ONLY for the reason that atleast 80% of all bass anglers have NEVER caught or tried the effort to get addicted and invested in the species

You guys do realize that bigmouth buffalo are not carp and nor are they introduced or invasive to texas. They are native to Texas and most of central united states.

A True Wisconsinite see; where I come from you have to take a 30h seminar/workshop over several weeks with an exam at the end. And you really have to learn about every species even insects and plants. Only after that you are allowed to fish in the whole country. I think if something like that was to be implemented in the U.S. more fishermen would know about the complex enviroment and about what they're really doing.

Which is still great but it doesn't go into animals and the ecosystem at all. Where are you from? I went to college/university for fisheries and aquaculture so I understand this kinda of stuff and am always trying to pass on my knowledge onto anyone who is willing to learn and leave behind their ignorant ways when it comes to fish and water ecosystems mainly but also all wildlife and ecosystems as well.

But it is not as difficult as some would expect. You just need to have a general interrest in the topic or be willing to learn a bit.
For example. We have a wide variety of people in a course from age 12 to 70. And about 90% pass the fishing exam.

as an Evinrude engine child who learned their intricacies from his father, you only pull the lever up to choke it when you start it after putting it in the water the first time. after that, it's warmed up and lubed and you dont need to choke it anymore so you just turn the key to start it. you can also pull that cover off and it has a pull start in case the starter isnt engaging.

Buffalo are native. Technically common carp are not invasive since they were intentionally introduced. Only way I can be onboard with bowfishing is if the fish you kill get utilized somehow, otherwise killing them so they can rot on the bank is not cool.
How/why they were introduced has zero bearing on their "invasive" designation. The vast majority of invasive species in this country were intentionally introduced. They're still invasive.
There is still no reason to kill an animal just for the sake of killing it. Like I said, if you’re going to utilize the animal then go for it, otherwise leave them be. Just to be clear the Buffalo is a native species. I also think most people think of Asian carp whenever carp are mentioned which are invasive and destroy our river systems. Contrary to popular belief, the common carp does none of that. Just trying to educate.
@@Nicoandy01 the damage that invasive animals can do to native animals and the ecosystem is a perfectly good reason to remove them. As a biologist, I'm well aware of and deal with the issue all the time.
@moosez71, I don’t disagree with you which is why I mentioned Asian carp, they are invasive and destructive. However, Buffalo are native, common carp are not destructive. Most of the hate against common carp or buffs is passed down from past generations of fisherman who have no actual knowledge of fish.
I love the sound of those evinrude motors, my papa had an 80’s model monark with a 50 hp evinrude in it. Sadly he passed away almost a year but every chance I’m either in his boat or my bumblebee with his picture right my side

Man I wish you guys could see the 14 foot jon boat my brother and I built! We put a front and back deck on it completely carpeted with interior led strips to light the deck up at night for bow fishing along with 4 led high lumen light bars around the front outside edges. We also put a 2019 9.9 hp Mercury on the back, a brand new 45 lb thrust foot pedal trolling motor and of course the newest Garmin sonar! Bad A little boat and I’m only about 30 minutes south from where y’all were fishin yesterday! It would be a dream of mine to show you guys one day!

Just bought a older inboard 20 footer yes I only spent 500 but I put 3k into it but 10 out of 10 would do again
My friend and I have a private lake we fish often, it's a few square miles and we do nothing but get around with the trolling motor. We started years ago with an aluminum Jon boat and paddles and then worked our way up to a hand steer trolling motor like you've got on that boat. Then we bought a plastic Jon boat, put a deck on it and threw a foot controlled minkota on it. We've even fished public lakes like Bardwell in Texas with it. We've got the weirdest looks from people but hey, the gear doesn't determine how good of a fisherman someone is. We get out there and slay em all the time!

Probably the most fun I've had with a bow in my hand. Slinging arrows non stop sometimes.
I'm gonna dress my boat up with some work lights and my generator a few times this summer and give it a go at night.

Smallmouth buffalo are native species. They have lived alongside bass as long as the two have been here. Same for gar. I’m surprised LFG didn’t know cause I recall him saying he majored in fisheries or something in college.

@@alexpaige8895 no, buffalo are a sucker and are 100% native to only north america, will never see one of those in Europe, also they directly compete against invasive carp so every native fish killed here was an invasive carp saved.
An idea for that front chair of the boat. You or some can use a plasma cutter to cut a section on the post for the chair and then weld it back so you get the height you want.
You should get that boat camo wrapped and use it as a duck hunting boat too

If you have a boat and are already out in the lake and find you suddenly have water coming in like that, get the boat moving fast .. boats like that are designed to actually suck water OUT if the plugs fall out or you forget to put them in.. As long as you are moving at a decent speed, it will pull the water out of the boat enough to keep you from sinking and/or until you can find the plug or get back to shore.

Adam Tomlin carp were not native they were brought over in the days of the first settlers so they are not invasive either they are an acclimatized non native species

right, bass are so boring to catch, too damn small and no fight, and taste like crap. Id rather catch a carp over a bass any day! why max out at 5 - 10 lbs depending on your location when you can catch a 20 lb fish with a real fight
Some carp in America can get to over 60lbs, I’m from England and would love to come over and fish some of your waters for carp the best we get here are 40lbs and you’re one lucky fisherman to catch one that size, so much better fight from carp even the small ones rip line like you wouldn’t believe. Search carl and alex fishing and watch some of theres videos and you’ll see they even have a feature film of them coming to America on the hunt for carp and they both smash their pb
Carp go to just under 70 pounds in England mate and in some places you can even fish for bigger once’s imported from France , and lots of lakes have 50’s and 60’s and pretty much every carp lake has 40s , also the biggest carp they had while on there trip to America was very low 30s , not even close to PB for either of them

Anyways what's been your biggest carp by weight?? My PB stands at touch over 20lbs, ~10-11kg roughly. Not a monster by Australian standards but was certainly a big fat carp in my books.

I’m from the uk and to answer you question a 20 is a pretty small fish here , go to over 75lb with a good one being around 30-40lb
My pb is 35 pound to date a nice size for the uk and brook perrins what uk carp have you heard of 75 plus when the uk record is the parrot at 68 pound?
Jason Mountstephen yeah I have heard that before that they are classed as a pest down under, in the uk the carp are loved and most of our kit is aimed at fish care and protection 😂
Drop that boat off at Fun N Sun and have them hook you up a new trolling motor/motor. Famous quote from a Craigslist boat seller. "Well it ran good last season". It Needs carb cleaned out for sure.

Rob if you see this, look into the ignition Coils for your starting problem with that motor. I literally just got rid of a boat a year ago, Same exact motor with same exact problem, fixed many things on that motor and it had 1 bad coil that needed replaced and that problem was fixed after that, it literally fired right up without hesitation every time once the coil was replaced. I'm no mechanic but just stating what fixed my exact same problem with same motor.

You can drain the water out of the boat if you have someone pull the plug out of the back while running the boat at a fast speed and replace the plug while running after the water runs out.

Invasive species does not necessarily mean they come from out of your state.. It also means they are invasive to a water way they normally were not found in and are now invading other fish habitat.

@@faithwheeler4724 Let's say you have a body of water with bluegill, perch and other species of fresh water fish.. The ecosystem (i.e. food and shelter) they need is delicate and balanced for them to survive.
Introducing carp, which are a fast breeding fish, upsets that balance because carp pretty much eat everything and anything. And the fact they breed so fast, they quickly can decimate the food chain for the other fish.

@@faithwheeler4724 I would definitely get rid of the carp.. Not good eating. Bass are! And they grow pretty hardy as well. Just know they eat a lot, especially other small fish. To be honest, I am not sure the best way to get rid of carp though... ... You can kill them of course but how you do it is the issue.. I would recommend talking to some people in your area that can help with that better than I can.. Fish and taking care of the, breeds and so forth change or need different types of care depending on where you live. I live in Wisconsin so managing my pond here is quite different than say in Texas or some place else. We also have to use specific species of fish to survive the harsh winters here.
As a kid out with my dad and grandad, we had to bring a pontoon boat back the same way.

Noticed that the battery in the box (without lid) there was a Batt Post close to the aluminum). How you don’t jostle the batt box around and that post makes contact with the aluminum (both posts would need to make contact) I would try and insulate that post so there is no chance to short out the battery after all the new “professional wiring” was done for the trolling motor. Nevertheless, looks like fun

Ah yes, dead battery for starter, and dead battery on the trolling motor. Makes it so much fun to get the boat onto the trailer. I did this this week, and got TM working but the engine is sick and boat is in shop for a week. Got battery for starter working, but fuel won't feed. aarrgghh!! But it is so much fun when it all works.
