You gotta be two people man. I called up a friend and we tried this and it works. If you look closely at exactly 0:28 in the video (and probably at other times too but I'm not sure) there is another guy with orange pants on the other side of the roof. We played some Darude and danced for a minute, each one of us working a corner of the barn and shit just slid right off. It's safe to say the roof got slightly raised but I haven't noticed any structural damage so far. It was at night though I'll have to take another look before the next snow fall just to be safe.
Its a two man sawing action, similar to the old two man saw they used to cut wood with, but this is rope. Guy on the left pulls, (did u see him?) then guy on the right.
But it is doing it right even if there is snow left, the reason for getting the snow of is because its weight, with 90% of the snow away you got the weight off the roof.
I've used this method since the 1960s. On a roof that large, I used a bow to shoot an arrow trailing fishing line then use the fishing line to pull a larger rope. Most roofs you can throw a line over. You can always use a casting rod or a sling shot to shoot a lead sinker attached to fishing line over the roof.

As someone who lives in a tropical country, im kinda jealous with this lol. Edit: Reading all of y'all's replies, while I appreciate it, my opinion still stands. Living in a tropical country isn't always rainbow and unicorns. In summer, a high electric bill is to be expected because of the hot weather. While in rainy season, my country gets hit with an average of 15 typhoons a year (although not all of them affects the entire country) so if you live in a typhoon-prone region, the chances of your house getting destroyed is very high. And with the global warming thingy, the typhoons will struck us more frequent and stronger than before.
Trust a Canadian - snow novelty wears off real quick. Right around the third time you've shoveled the driveway within 8 hrs...and along comes the plow again.

If you build a house in heavy snowfall country, unless you are a moron, you design the roof with a very steep pitch. Before the snow can build up to a dangerous weight, it falls off the side of its own accord.

I once worked a winter in Norway in Lønningdal at a Salmon farm. It was brutal and I've never experienced such hard conditions. I'm from the north of Scotland and thought we had it bad here. They also stack their wood like art work which I loved seeing going by houses.
Ah, but Scotland's weather in winter is far more unpredictable than it is in Norway, Sweden or Finland. Sometimes Scotland can go an entire winter season (late December to early March) without seeing a flicker of the white stuff. Just some rain and a bit of sleet. So, when we do get a couple of days of snow, it can feel like a new Ice Age has just begun and the place grinds to halt. Other countries get it more regularly are better prepared as a result.
