Knicks fan here! I’ve heard nothing but good things about James. We’re losing a really good one in Fred Katz but Fred had James on his last podcast announcing his move to national writer. He gave James a rousing endorsement and listening to him speak already solidified that he’s going to be just fine in NY
Wait, wut? The Knicks are good, while the Pistons are still hopelessly shitty and fucked until the end of time by horrible ownership and general incompetence.
Happy trails, James! You kept the credibility and engagement with the team the team high even in our darkest hours, especially for folks like me who moved out of the state of Michigan. Go kill it over in the Big Apple!
My guy James! I joined the Athletic cuz of him. Great, talented writer and New York is getting a good one! Hope to see you on ESPN sometime big fella or maybe hanging with Shams and Chandler with Beads on her show. Always be a Detroiter and rep Michigan wherever you are!!
"Professionalism"? He fed disingenuous kool-aid to the fanbase and then made fun of that fanbase for correctly asserting that he was wrong and the team was gonna suck again. He's a dickish midwit troll and nothing more.
Grizzlies fan here. I’m also a huge basketball fan overall. I follow people that report and provide content for teams all over the league. I’m also a subscriber to the athletic. Allow me to say congrats to James. He’s an excellent writer. Knicks fans are spoiled being able to have back to back beat writers as talented as Fred and now James. Ku you have grown so much in your time with the Locked On network. You and James would make an incredible podcasting duo. Who knows what the future holds. As a hoops fan that seeks out content to consume from all over the league, you guys along with Omari are outstanding. I hope that Pistons’ fans realize how fortunate they are to have had all of your voices covering their favorite team these past few years.
Journalistic integrity. James you are the epitome of the term. Going to miss you greatly. Best of luck in all your endeavors not only in the Big Apple but also in life. Congratulations!
Congrats on the move JEIII! You are going to cover the Knicks at the best time since the Ewing years & then the Melo years. Continued success in the Big Apple!
For your final assignment representing the Detroit area, please correct those fools over at ESPN. Last night they reported the largest WNBA crowd (20,711) ever attended the Washington versus Indiana game. Correct those fools and tell them that on 9-16-03, 22,076 attended Game 3 of the WNBA Finals that Detroit won over LA.
He should have, that was like the bare minimum requirement of the job as Weaver was the very worst GM in the history of the sport and completely ruined the ongoing rebuild through his incompetent negligence.
A professional wouldn’t destroy someone’s character no matter what they thought of the job he did. If you think Troy Weaver is the worse GM in history apparently your memory is short or you aren’t very knowledgeable about NBA ownership/management -see Sacramento Kings for starters
Of course I remember the Kangz Kangz-ing it up for fifteen years, and....that's the Pistons now. Also, accurately stating that the guy was horrifically shitty at his job does not equate to destroying someone's character: he was the shittiest fucking bum in the history of his profession, that's just a fact.
Are you....responding to me without using the reply function? It's quite confusing. Anyway, Weaver was the shittiest fucking bum in the history of his profession, good goddamn riddance. (Glad we've cleared that up.)
Im hurt as hell u leaving us for another team😂😂😂

James was great in Detroit. My condolences on covering the Knicks. Bigger place, but not necessarily better.
They got Brunson

Much better place

Good
James is class act talking about favorite moments not even thinking about Piston’s record -just being real. Gonna miss this kinda professionalism

Thanks for all your hard work bro. Congratulations
James got off this sinking ship. Congrats bro! lol
I appreciate all you did in covering the team. Always an entertaining watch. Good luck in New York. Not too much tho lol
Thank u James
This is what it’s going to feel like when Cade asks for a trade
Still can't believe he's not "Buddah" Edwards' son.
still have no idea why anybody would wanna live in new york but hey to each its own i guess
I went to NY only 1 time, and that was enough. The only thing I said about NY is that it's dirty, lol
Glad I stayed for the Sekou talk
Ku, where you going to get your info from now? You quoted from JEIII so much this last year.

Hey, JE3, if the team breaks out can i blame you?😅 good luck!
Weaver clowned us with Luke deal
Weaver fucked us over a dozen different times, if not more. Worst GM in the history of the sport.
JE lll Trader Pistons will win a championship before NY, I GUARANSHEED that!
Traitor 😂
James is too classy for "TEA" questions...he might have to come back to work here someday.
Exactly. Don't wanna burn bridges. He may have to come back. Besides, he doesn't want to be that guy who talks shit about a team after he leaves
WTH ..the Knicks? Where is he from?
This sucks, there aren't many writers I follow. But, congratulations to you. It's great to go to a good team.
You will note that James said the drafting was bad and mentioned moves BEFORE Weaver-Darko Sekou Henry Ellenson Stanley Johnson Khyri Thomas cmon man
That doesn't change the fact that Weaver was horrible at his job! It's not relevant!
Ppl expected you to destroy Weaver’s character like they did
He should have, that was like the bare minimum requirement of the job as Weaver was the very worst GM in the history of the sport and completely ruined the ongoing rebuild through his incompetent negligence.
@rafaelsantana4905 Big same!

bro what kinda homosexual fanbase has this dwindled to where everybody wants "TEA"... Pistons have stooped so low
Just because you curse & call him a bum and say it’s a fact does not make it a fact.
Are you....responding to me without using the reply function? It's quite confusing.

Money talks I guess 😢
