    1st Listen....I truly hope the Pistons are paying attention to what both the Lions and now the Tigers are doing. All this being historically bad, it's time to start winning. Enough of this laughing stock of the world. Cade and the crew better come with it this year or it's time to blow it all up and start over. Stay up Ku.

    I don’t think they should sign a backup point guard. Too much upside with Ivey and Ausar. If Ivey gets comfortable both on and off the ball, and learns how to stay in front of 1s, his whole game goes to the next level. If Ausar is guarding up full court and using his speed and passing ability on the other end at 6’7, you’ve got a middle class Magic Johnson on your squad. That’s another Andre Iguodala. Point guards are developed by being thrown into the fire. Why bring in somebody to stagnate the potential of your #5 draft picks? Trajan was a wing, I think he sees the vision. The future is big, skilled, wings.

    Let’s face it, the biggest argument for needing a backup PG is Cade’s health. He hasn’t played more than 65 games in a season yet. And when he does stay healthy this year he still won’t play all 82, he’ll take some games off. The we have Ivey and Sasser running the show? Maybe for a scheduled sit down, but probably not good for an extended run, even if you like Ivey at the point.

    I agree that Ausar can eventually be a secondary facilitator, but doubt he’ll be ready this season and still think he needs to work on his shot first. And I think he needs to do that at the 3 or 4. Not because of offense, but because of the defensive end. If Thompson is the 2 you have him and Cade who can guard the 1 or 2. Tech and Harris can’t do it. You would most likely end up with Ausar on the point defensively taking him away from his great wind defense and pulling him from the basket for rebounds.

Last year Ausar was the focal point of attack defender with Killian & Ivey being 2nd via fluctuated roles. Ausar & Killian gets benched and Ivey had to take on that objective. JB talked about Cade taking the initiative to become the point of attack defender this year via his intangibles which is what I wanted all last season. It's only right.

    I agree that Ausar Thompson's ball handling needs to be priority number 1. But I disagree that he should be a SG or even see minutes in that role this season. He did flash playmaking which is great but we have to remember this guy is still extremely raw offensively and with his ball handling. Even though the Bucks used Giannis in that SG/PG role years 2 and 3 of his career, his BEST role is still a PF at the end of the day AND a play finisher not a play maker like Khris Middleton or Jrue Holiday. Same statement goes for Ausar, just because players can "play-make" doesn't mean you put them in that role. You could say the same things for Sabonis, LeBron, Embiid, Jimmy Butler, Jayson Tatum, yet none of them are really point guards. (LeBron and Jokic are anomalies and shouldn't be expected often).

You get to evaluate JI in a variety of settings and you provide enough shooting around Cade (especially if JI improves on last seasons shooting). It depends upon what system JB is running. Ivey as a 3&D wing who doesn't play on ball when Cade is playing is a bad use of his skills. In that situation a shooter like Beasley or THJ makes sense In a 2 PG system Ivey is the only option. Ausar starting at SG is a bad fit if Duren starts at center. But Stew or maybe Reed as the starting center would allow Ausar to attack the rim both on and off ball.

    • @Robolski
      @Robolski 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@LockedOnPistons I can see how optically that could be true, but the numbers don’t really suggest it. For 4 man lineups with 100 minutes played last season, a line up of Cade-JI-Tech and Duren was ranked 8th at 107.3 def rating and had a positive net rating of 1.7. In fact tied for first was a lineup of Cade-JI-Tech and Stewart at 104.3 def rating with a relatively large net rating of 9.9. Also weirdly enough, out of the top 10 4 man lineups def ratings with 100 min, JI was in the lineup 5 times (as much as Ausar). This would imply that JI is not as bad defensively as we might think or at bare minimum can be included in a decent defensive scheme/lineup.

      @@cordelldemattei5446 I expect Ivey to shoot close to 36% from three. Ausar might shoot 28%. 36% isn't elite, but on the high volume Ivey shot last season it is effective. Ausar is an elite defender, which is why I want him to start but Cade and Duren are tight. Plus JD trade value will plummet if Duren isn't starting. JB is being put in a can't win situation regarding the rotation. Luckily 14 wins is an incredibly low bar.

    Of course Ku nitpicks an article that’s in line with his ideal starting lineup before asking Sankofa a question about what his lineup would be……. Typical It’s plenty articles and prominent Detroit Pistons platforms that have Ivey starting why not add one of those as well? The Ivey hate is starting to get very old from this guy he’s Ivey’s Skip Bayless. Also only talks about rotations it’s the same topics all summer long good thing the off season is almost over

I also want to see him develop chemistry with someone other than duren. He's gotta figure out how to make everyone better. A more variety offensive arsenal would help too - off ball stuff, play in the post, etc It's going to take time but I think he can get there
