Has it been that long already? He's not forgotten here. I remember both times I had the opportunity to see him like it was yesterday. I'd never heard anything like him before, or since.
Rainer lived in Tucson, Arizona and was beloved by the community. That's Nick on bass and Will on drums. This is where I was on Saturday nights during college. Loved me some Nick.
This is horrifyingly beautiful. Waiting for the day a filmmaker uses one of his many brilliant tunes giving a resurgence in appreciation to this man's work.
I do believe this is the finest low-budget music video I have ever seen. It captures all of the scintillating exitement of a Rainer live performance, which were incomparable.
I guess Ry Cooder would love this killer track (and Rainer's guitar) - what a wonderful reminiscence of a completely underrated artist. Nice that the German Glitterhouse Label keeps his music alive...
I first watched this in the early hours of last night and have spent all day today at work worrying that I may have only dreamed that it had emerged! Thanks so much for sharing it. The video proves that Rainer was incredible in '85 but, amazingly he became INCANDESCENT in the few short years before he died! Check out the 'Later' performance and buy his cd's!! His legacy must live on!!
21 years gone today. Hope people are still listening.
We do, brother, we do. And we love him today too.

Oh yes. I am....
He was amazing!
Top 5 with Billy Gibbons 2021 brought me here. Thanks Rev BFG!

Tuve noticia de Rainer en pandemia, el dichoso algoritmo. Me pregunto cómo no fue más conocido... era un genio, me ha hecho muy bien dar con él...
Absolutely off the scale. What a loss, but with sweet cool memories such as this at least we can enjoy the magic he left with us.
Sometimes in Tucson, around sundown,if the wind is just right, you can still hear him...
What a beautiful sound

I have tears in my eyes. Pure Magic. Ive said it before and I say it again - Rainer was the Vini Reilly (Durutti Column) of the West!
?weird comparison .?
Rainer better
never be another man like him++
This performance is so hauntingly amazing. What a unique performer, one of a kind.
Brilliant! Amazing goose pimply gig, I love his "life is fine" song as well, inspirational.

Born in Germany ( I think ) he lived in Texas. I think also he is one of the best singer and blues guitar player since he was livin' and before.
Para mí, está en el mismo lugar que Robert Johnson.
that's the best Rainer Ptacek's vid I've seen. Transe blues music !
huh, this is GREAT, first time i heard rainer ptacek, he was incredible, thanks for uploading this
What a great performance. Talk about a solid power trio.
Love from Nepal \../

RIP Still missed
Killer solo!
a legend
wow!
god i miss him :(
The best
amen to that dude
stark
Here I am. 10 years since my last comment. Still the same.
If I where a producer, I would've teamed Rainer and this line up with Thin White Rope for the ultimate desolate road soundtrack ever made
Dude. This is fuckin sick. Heard about em from Billy gibbons. Good suggestion.
Rev Billy told me about him too Bro! I've listened to this at least 100 times since that "Top 5" interview!
Rainer was an American original (even though he was born in Germany).
You may be cool, but you'll never be 'bass strap over the wrong shoulder' cool.
waauw
Genius !
If you like that sound, check the song "Magic Arrow" by Timber Timbre !
It's funny as people tenderly try to put a label
for something so peculiar and unique for style and attitude as Rainer.
Robert Johnson YES and YEA
And again.
spills2. You are wright and very cute: the man on bass is without doubts the great
Wesley Snipes. The best with the best!
Mofo. eternal. HugeHuman. met R a few times. special.humble..Tucson.

As good or better than Robert Johnson
