  • I had some more foundation work this week, I poured the block cores with concrete and installed anchor bolts. There was many floor joists that needed cut so I got about half of them done. We took a little break for 4th of July and went to some lobster crate races.

Get yourself an extra chain and a Stihl 2-n-1 file to keep it sharp. Sawchain looks dull - lots of powder

Looking good. Take a few min to Google. The drainage shall be on the outside and UNDER the level of the footings. Then the wall shall be ventilated if you gona but gravel on the outside. There are different kind of materials to use when making a ventilated concrete wall. 99% of the Amerikans i see have no clue how it works, take a time to google and you get much healthier house. Good Luck. Also if you gona have a drainage from the roof you use a pipe outside the house with no holes and get the roof water away from your foundation.

@@RebornOffgrid All our houses in sweden we done this for a very long time, but i do not see any Amerikans do that. For me its natural thinking that is better to drainage under the concrete instead above, bec you want a dry foundation and you dont have the black thing you put on the bottom of the concrete and concrete is not water proof it sucks water. More important bec you now get all water from the roof down to your foundation, we collect that water in a pipe around the house and lead it away in a trench away from the house. I do Not see any Amerikans do that but it is logical if you take 1 min to think of it

I noticed your logs moving when you're cutting them. Don't you clamp them.

@@Jeff-vt8kn for the first couple passes I don’t clamp, to save time, but for the final cuts I make sure they’re clamped and stable because it’s more crucial. If I was cutting boards I would clamp it the whole time, but I’ll use the scraps from the logs for firewood.

@@RebornOffgrid The reason I was asking is because if the county code enforcement officer was okay with the building your structure. I have a piece of land in Kennebec that I want to build a timber frame.

I have heard Kennebec is somewhat strict. It is best to show them exactly what you are planning on doing and ask what inspections they have. Some towns and unorganized territories are very understanding. It seems the unorganized territories are the best to work with just, they just ask a bunch of information during permit process.
