    Bishop Sanborn should be promoted to Cardinal and has so much Common Sense and knowledge the Church needs him so much .

      Not promoted, rather ELEVATED to use proper ecclesial lingo.

      You do realize that this pope will never elevate a bishop who doesn't support Vatican II, don't you?

    "21 They say to him: Caesar's. Then he saith to them: Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and to God, the things that are God's. " ~ Matthew 22:21

    Pope Leo XIII wrote about freedom, Church and state, freedom of speech and press. Worth reading it. Libertas Praestantissium.

    Had an old priest years ago that gave homilies much like this. This good priest also did not like Jefferson. 🇺🇲 ⚜

    As I see it, the Constitution *affords the possibility of a "moral and religious people" who are so voluntarily, not by compulsion. Unique in all the world, as His Excellency has said. A land where the Kingdom of God *might reign in the hearts of men.
    That's not a bad thing. That's a good thing. IF the people are disoriented and wayward (and, by extension, their nation is likewise), the blame for that points back to their religious formation - ie, to the Church. Were we not warned about a coming "diabolical disorientation"?
    Let it not be forgotten that, as goes the Church, so goes the culture -- regardless of its legal constitution. Perhaps that is why, since 1917, societies have degraded so fast and so completely.

    England has church and state together. Queen Elizabeth participated in a Druid ceremony. Do we see the English model as a Christian success?

    • @kyrieeleison1243
      @kyrieeleison1243 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not quite. The state religion of England is not the Church, it is an heretical Protestant sect. So what do you expect? Druid ceremonies are a logical next step.

    Jesus did not blame the non religious Roman government for the moral failures. He blamed the clergy and the people.

    Christian Monarchy
    The calling comes from the highest source, from God Himself!
    It (monarchy) is God's grace & dignity to Earth in order to give
    Ordinary People an ideal to strive toward & aspire after as an example of
    nobility & duty in their wretched lives in this valley of tears.
    Monarchy is a calling from God, a vocation.
    He (the monarch) is grounded in an Abbey or Cathedral, not a government building.
    He is anointed, not appointed.
    It is an Archbishop that places the Crown upon His head, not a minister or public servant. Which means that He is answerable to God in his duty, not to the public.
    It is a perennial catholic principle that all authority comes from God.
    Reflecting on the above, I would like to add the following consideration:
    The general & real malaise that we as a people of a nation & faithful
    in the Church are experiencing at the present moment is due to the
    fact that we are suffering unduly from the want of Monarchy in the State & in the Church.

    The only thing you gentlemen seem to be forgetting is that if there were not a separation of church and state at that time, not only would protestantism be the state religion but catholicism would be outlawed entirely. In the colonial period the catholics were persecuted worse than the news in previous eras in europe.

    • @Corvus001
      @Corvus001 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm pretty sure they are operating under the assumption that Catholicism *should be* the state religion, and the Bishop said twice that the attitude of the States was even more deplorable than the letter of the Constitution itself, and I'm not Bishop Sanborn but I would also assume this is also in regards to their Protestantism also.

    • @mhtseminary

      Separation of church and state is evil per se. If the situation has favored Catholics, it's an effect per accidens. The present discussion concerns essential morality.

      We should pick our government officials based on their religious views and actions. Including religion in government would be accomplished by these people implementing the religious convictions in laws passed. People should implement their religious convictions by what the do. If a person sells out, it is their fault.
