just bought one for my 8 y'old son (and myslef OC ) and this video saved my day, just before I get lost in that IKEA wanna-b paper comes with the box...
Nice explanation Keith. I'm going to get Crimson II soon. 3 Cymbals, with big snare and big FL Tom. The size of this kit is Massive. A good for practice.
Tune in to watch the LIVE Unboxing and Set Up of the Donner DED - 200. You can click to be reminded. th-cam.com/users/livesTM2ob4cwbk?si=EVKWSR2QG3kd7Q9C
Ok, thank you for the Explanation. I really was expecting you will show how all the terminals connect to all those parts. and if there are anything we need to pay attention to.
Keithron can't wait for the next video! Could you help me with this quick question 1. Does the SD1250 have a bell on all the symbols (crash, ride, hihat?) 2. On the Crimson II SE which symbols have the bell?
The 1250 has larger bells than the Alesis but the both have them. The cymbals on the 1250 are full while the Alesis is that triangle 1/4 rubber pad. 🤷🏽♂️
Those clamps are nice. I like my Roland but everytime I want to add a pad anywhere I have to partially disassemble the rack! Kind of a pain. Great video!
@@theartoflivingoutloud888 wow… then Melodie’s is strictly for Alesis I’m assuming. I need to look it up because there are sooooo many software options out there
@@theartoflivingoutloud888 yeah… ok I know what it is…. You don’t need it if you buy the Sd1250. The App that comes with it does the same thing. Not to mention a lot more.
Hello from Australia mate! Excellent video, I just bought this kit yesterday and being a complete newbie to drums and E drums i have no idea what to adjust. you mentioned a basic start for E drums requires tweaking certain settings. Have you got a video or some advice on this? Thanks
I actually didn’t change anything it was pretty right out the box. On the module Gi to settings and to select what you want to adjust you’ll have to hit it… once you do just adjust the volume.
Hey Keithron, I just found your channel and it's awesome! I was also in between buying the Simmons SD1250 and the Crimson II SE, (I know your still evaluating the crimson) but it's on sale for $829 and is cheaper than the SD1250 which is on sale for $919. I plan on using the left over crimson money to purchase an additional tom, and I plan on using a DAW for sounds so I won't use the retro monochrome module 😂 With that, what do you think?
Whatever your budget says is best. Right now the crimson with the added tom is likely the better buy but if they’re not on sale the 1250 is definitely better. I don’t know which is the better drum yet though. Thanks for watching.
@@KeithronPowell Hey, no worries thanks for replying. By any chance do you know if the bell on the ride symbols is smaller on the Crimson? My local GC did not have the SD1250 on display.
@@LookitsJose yes… much smaller. I actually couldn’t get it to function properly when I initially set it up. I will be working with the setting to correct triggering issues and will likely have to do a tutorial on that once I figure it all out.

@@KeithronPowell Hi Keithron I saw the SD 1250 already, thanks for that. I meant a video for Crimson SE II? Or will you post the comparison before that video?
I'm looking at picking up one of these for 400 bucks with an amplifier. Is there anything I should look out for trouble shooting . This will be my first kit.
I’m still evaluating the Alesis. However, I really think the SD1250 is a better bargain. You get one extra tom and that module is better. Then there’s the app that makes it all really smooth and easy to use. I’m going to do a real comparison soon. It’s gonna be hot!
Thanks! I can't wait to watch. I already bought the Crimson SE, and I'll present it on Christmas as the gift with the option to switch out for the SD1250. He just HAD to have a red set, so we'll see 🤣
Alesis makes some good stuff. But they skimp on the most important part... The Module! I will never understand why they ditched the DMDock with app. You inserted your iPad and that was the dock. And the drums were fully customizable through the app. This should be the future of electronic drums. Sadly they dropped the ball on it.
@7:30 if you're a touring drummer you will NOT be using this set. I have had so many issues with the cymbals triggering and especially the hi-hat...in fact, I had to give the set away because it just didn't make the grade....for me. If I had found a solution for that nasty hi-hat I might have kept them just to beat on at the house...I use Superior Drummer instead of the onboard sounds ...cause well...that's another issue....again, for me. Others may have these and it suites them just fine and that's awesome...for them. Thanks for the vid! I was hoping to find out if there ever was a solution to the hi-hat poor triggering issue.
I Have you is just one of my friends I’m not quite sure which model was or what we were listening it through it was headphones but it wasn’t a sounds as well for me I didn’t like how it felt and I just found out a bit awkward to play
Sorry forgot to add that I think the app and stuff is great and how it like goes to your computer and stuff I think that’s why it’s great for being a midi controller because it’s really easy but I know last time I played my friends one as I said I did not like the sounds that were coming out of it or just how it felt
Thanks this was so helpful
