A commenter on one of the broken pcv valve videos, who is apparently a mechanic, said to be sure and warm the engine up prior to attempting the R&R. Being plastic, it apparently needs to be warmed up first, and then it just pulls out. I thought 'Great' next time I'll do that, but it doesn't do shit for my broken pcv valve in a Dodge 360 with almost 350k miles on it. Slept on these wise words overnight, and came up with a simple, potentially helpful solution. Broke out my Harbor Freight heat gun, warmed up the part, without melting it of course, then installed the old curved vice grips down low on it next to the valve cover, and it was a beautiful thing, almost as satisfying a popping a black head out of middle of your forehead! wow, that commentator ended up being right below this note.

What kind of heating gun? Can I use my wife's hair dryer?

Isn't it fun when a 5-minute job turns into a 2-day-long nightmare? Don't you just love plastic engine parts? Glad you were able to get it out. Good to see you, G.

im in this mess at the moment. Though quick 10 min job to clean pcv valve but damn it won't budge after half an hour trying to pull it out without damaging, there's no pcv valve and grommet available for my car model in the entire country so I have to be careful not to break it. I'll try again tomorrow :D

Hey friends so you don't go through that again make sure the vehicle has been driven and is warm to the touch or even still hot wear your gloves eye protection and those should pop out without any problem it is when it is cold and cools down the plastic the molding is not pliable in cold weather. Hope that helps

have similar setup on jeep 2001 cherokee. We have big grommets that can be cut out and replaced with the ccv and pcv. the rubber grommets get cooked into hard and don't let go of these breathers.

I just did the EXACT same thing on my durango. Thanks for the video, but it looks like it might just be easier to pull the valve cover. Lol

Your basic nightmare. I don't think mine was ever changed. I have a 1998- 360 magnum that's in 1950 plymouth Special Deluxe restomod. So the grommet was petrified around the PCV valve (P-right side) and also what's called a breather elbow on the (D-left side). Took me an hour of pulling and prying with a screwdriver, pliers, WD-40, etc. Finally got them out in pieces. Anyone having the same issue, be careful not to drop any fragments down in the valve cover.

Can anyone tell me if the PVC valve could cause my turbo to break? I replaced the turbo and it happened again.

Should've just removed the valve cover it really aint that hard and is pretty simple and wouldve saved you the headache in ybe long run lol but that's just my opinion but at least you got it and it worked for you although it couldve been done easier by not avoiding to remove the valve cover 😂

I have a broken pcv valve from me thinking it would just come out from my 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.2 l the pcv valve broke i cant get it to come off but I'm gonna try your method wish me luck b/c I'm, pretty sure for what i said and done over the last 2 days I'm going to hell for. and the plugs won't come out the stupid pointing at each other configuration, I'd love to smack the shit out of the guy who invented that so you can't get a ratchet on any of the plugs. and so far it took me 3 hours to do 3 plugs because my spark plug socket keeps getting stuck on the plugs and won't come out. On the 2nd plug it took 3 hours to get it off the 3rd one is still on the truck. I had a Chevy s-10 an 88' yes I'm that old I did everything on that truck in 2 hours oil, plugs, pcv, wires cap and rotor I can't believe how hard this is on a truck that is 14 years newer.

I just took the valve cover off and broke the breather into little pieces. I was afraid to yank the cover straight off if I pulled hard enough with some 6’ lever action.
