The Jamaican Cooking Journey I’m late, but Big Thank you for this. My parents emigrated to this country from Jamaica with my brothers, I was born here and unfortunately, I lost my Mom at the age of 16. Mommy showed me how to fend for myself as she used to say, cooking, cleaning, sewing, how to carry myself as a young lady, but there were a few things she didn’t get to share with me. I really appreciate this because I am showing my daughters how to take care of themselves and carry on the traditions. Much much love to you !❤️🙏🏾❤️
I know, right! This is real 'home cooking'! I get suspicious when I see brand new cooking utensils (and all) on a home cooking channel (because I'll be wondering if 'cooking' goes on when the camera is off)
Debs a swear is me one duh dem tings ere. Mi put een chicken foot to. Yes girl. Chicken stewed peas noice! Just love how you showing the real Jamaica as most of us live it. Thanks Debs. God bless you and family.
Sis Debbie, I am happy for the 'lock down' I would never have found you otherwise. I have learnt such a lot. Please and thank you for your multi tasking and your bilingual. Wad up! Wad up! Manners and respect! Soon come to St Mary.
I like the language switch at the end. I was amazed when I was at a resort in Jamaica how the staff would switch from speaking the patois among themselves to English when they spoke with me.
Thanks Miss Debbie for this recipe. I will definitely give this a try for the family. I guess you can use other peas as well in this recipe. Delicious looking fish. 😋👏🏾
Greetings Debbie! It's Kathy from Toronto....Bajan girl. I made this dish today with some Turkey thighs that I cut up. I did add in the bay leaf and some christophene( cho cho ) because I didn't have any carrots. It's so cold here and I wasn't trying to head outside. Either way my stew turkey is off the chain!!!!!!! Thanks for the recipe and keep up the great work 🤗🤗🤗

What is the white thing u put inside...u call it pinas? I don't know what that Is...
They are called spinners they are dumplings made with flour water and salt
Farida Baljit pinas is made from flour, just like you making dumplings but you pinch it smaller and roll it long way.
If you like cornmeal, use half flour, half cornmeal and you can put a little sugar if you like dumplings with a little sugar or you can make them savory.
