    • @Bigmanflynnjim
      @Bigmanflynnjim 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ absolutely love the car, you can tell it’s aged now, the difference is dramatic between that and my giulietta but it still drives fantastic. Very tight, fast and well planted, and I’m glad I waited for a TBI it is just such a fantastic engine which can still compete with modern cars in the same category.

    • @JOXWb
      @JOXWb 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@Bigmanflynnjim Me, personally am not a big fan of Giulietta. To much Fiat in it inside, like its Bravo or something. My mechanic who only works with Alfa,Fiat and Lancia sold his to buy 159 and he says the build quality is on 159's side. Not gonna lie its one beautifull car but on the outside. Tastes are different if you like it thats what matters. If only i could afford to buy Guilia QV. 🙂

    • @Bigmanflynnjim
      @Bigmanflynnjim 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ yeah I see what you mean, the mirrors and steering wheel remind me of a bravo and the key of a fiat 500, which is a shame. On the outside it looks great as an Alfa should, and also drives very well for a hatchback but Alfa did fall short on the interior which is disappointing as Alfa previously had done very well with interior (I use the 939 as an example). The 159 picks up massively on what the giulietta lacks. But yes I share your hopes on hopefully getting a Giulia QV one day they are amazing cars, I dare to say more appealing than an M3

    Hack #5 is useful when it's at the dealership and we can't start the engine but need the steering unlocked to push it into the shop. Most cars have a safety release hidden underneath the centre console, or behind the column trim, so it's kinda useful to have one that's easier to get to for when your Alfa breaks down

    • @TheAlfaNut
      @TheAlfaNut  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Fish, thanks for watching! I guess that all of these little quirks have a use, it’s just that some are more obvious than others! 😉

    • @tvaatakt1
      @tvaatakt1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Alfas does not break down. They just get iffy if not treated like a princess, specially when tasked with humdrum stuff like going to the supermarket. It's their Italian temper paired with a bit of narcissism and what have you. Oh, dida I mentioned that I drive a Volvo and my wife a 159? That randomly decides that it does not start and then you just disconnect the battery for 2 minutes to show the creature who is actually in charge. And off we go.

    My 159 has the window up on remote key. Very practical. Great car by the way-simply underrated!
    It also doesnt beep when opening or closing and is incredibly reliable . Much more economic to operate and maintain then the bmw, audi ,merc gang...Alfa made the perfect choice to change the suppliers policy to deliver proper products. Now its only Bosch that needs to get up to standard . The new gen Giulia, Tonale and Stelvio are technically top notch...difficult to find better.... and the Tonale has a great design and styling!

    Love this channel and each new issue...
    I rock a Stelvio TI Sport in the Midwestern US (aka the ‘flyover states’) and it gets pretty lonely for Alfisti...but we still know how to find each other and party: Alfa Romeo Owners Club (AROC for short!)
    Then again, that’s EXACTLY why I bought her...and she has proven absolutely brilliant in any weather!
    (Damn shame for all the sheep that buy German SUV’s or American Bro-Dozers...they’re missing out!)
    More for me..haha! Love my Stelvio to bits!!

    You can manually set the beeping off by giving it a different country setting for the alarm mode even if you don't have multiecuscan (multiecuscan requires the electronic key code on your vehicle code card):
    To set to the Dutch Mode:
    1. Put key in.
    2. Turn on hazards.
    3. Press and hold rear foglight.
    4. Pull key out, put key back in and out again.
    5. Release foglight button.
    6. You should hear 4 slow beeps. This confirms that you are in program mode.
    7. Press the rear fog light 4 times (for Dutch setting) and put key back in within 10 seconds.
    8. The system will beep as many times to denote the relative alarm code setting (see below: 4 times for Dutch mode).
    9. Finally, key out to complete the new alarm mode setting.
    Alarm modes:
    0 - Alarm inhibited.
    1 - EEC
    2 - UK
    3 - Belgium
    4 - Holland
    5 - World

    L'accoudoir s'avance sur tous les modèles de 159 ?

    • @TheAlfaNut
      @TheAlfaNut  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Non, malheureusement pas sur tous les modèles - il semble que certains soient fixés en place mais ils peuvent aussi devenir très rigides, alors essayez de pousser le vôtre vers l'avant pour voir s'il bouge! Merci d'avoir regardé!

      OK, here you go.
      What you want to do is set the car and alarm to Dutch mode, where they have different rules for nuisance noise. Following is how it can be done:
      Set the ignition key to Key-On;
      activate the hazard warning flasher
      press and HOLD the rear fog light control button. while holding rear fog button down:
      (Quickly) pull key fob out then back in then out, - starting from the Key-On/in state, always holding down the rear fog light button.
      at the end of the sequence, the siren emits 5 beeps to indicate the activation of programming mode.
      release the rear fog light switch and press it again the same number of times as the desired mode (each press gives a feedback beep). Press 4 times to set to Dutch then put key fob back in once you have selected Dutch within 10 seconds of last press of fog light button.
      If the button is pressed for an invalid number of times (e.g. greater than the number of available operating modes), the siren emits 5 beeps and is cancelled and the country code is not changed:
      the siren emits the same number of beeps as the number which indicates the selected operating mode: each beep lasts 1 s and is followed by a 0.5 s pause.
      at the end of the beeps, set the key to the Key-Off position: the alarm is programmed in the new mode.
      For Dutch arming and disarming will now be quiet, however alarm if activated will be slightly louder. It also I think would alarm repeat 3 times rather than 8 to not be such a nuisance if alarm is triggered.
      To set back to gb mode follow instructions above but gb mode is 2 presses of fog light not 4 as is for Dutch.
      I not making this up, I have an alfa 159 and have used this. The bit I took a couple of goes to get right is when pulling key fob out/in/out you need to do this pretty quickly.

    In fact, I knew about all this, but I still could not cope with one problem. How to reset the service interval on ponel? I read somewhere that you need to press the clutch and brake pedal several times with the car turned off, but I'm not sure that this applies to the 159 model. Somehow I tried to do this and after that milage started flashing

    I suppose the steering lock disengagement is useful in case you would turn off the car with the steering wheel at end run, in such case the steering lock would prevent you from turn it on again.

      Sorry for the delay replying mate, yes they are worth buying still - the 2.4 is s great engine. Check the subframes as they rust and suspension too. 👍🏻
