His Operatic Range puts him stages ahead of all other Metal Singers. He was The Lead Part of Some of The Most Legendary Bands - Black Sabbath, Elf, Rainbow.
Freddie Mercury is the Most Versatile, Complete Singer of All time.
He Experimented In Genres Like Classic Rock, Opera, Progressive, Thrash Metal(wrote the first ever Thrash Metal Song), Funk Rock, Hip-Hop, Disco, Blues, Power Metal and Many More.

Dio has a better technique and probably a higher vocal range, but Freddie's voice is a voice super powerful and perfect for rock while Dio was perfect for metal, but both of them were legends and have their space in history

I don't think the comparision is absurd. Mercury always enjoyed to sing heavy songs (I Want It All and Gimme the Prize flert with metal), and Dio always was singing classic hard rock and blues (Mistreated and Catch the Rainbow). There is no Apples and Oranges, there is two eternal gems in the music history!

Finally someone who knows what they're talking about. Ronnie and Freddie could sing practically anything. Hate when ppl put them in a singular category.
I've always thought these two had really similar sounding voices. You can absolutely tell them apart, but compared to anyone else on the planet...good luck trying to imitate the vocal power coming outta those two guys.

I can't quite tell who's objectively the more skilled vocalist because I don't know theory nor do I have trained ears but damn I swear Dio's voice was industry made for the genre, he would have invented metal by himself anyways if Sabbath, Purple and Zeppelin didn't show up.

Both are excellent vocalists, of the highest caliber. In my opinion, Freddie has a fantastic falsetto, giving him a bit more range, and he is a consumate showman. But Ronnie has better technical abilities, a larger toolbox, if you will, with more versatility and power. Listen to them both live, just audio, and I think you'll agree that Dio is the winner. Oh, and for those who think Dio is a "metal or doo-wop only" singer, look up the songs he did for Roger Glover's "The Butterfly Ball and the Grasshoppers Feast" and tell me his voice isn't beautiful.

Freddie had a strong voice and a raw sort of talent, but Dio had a way better technique if you analyse them objectively. I can see why people love Freddie but there's no real competition when it comes to technique and consistency.

@@eduardhermesanschau9590 Ele não falou nenhuma mentira, Freddie assim como muitos cantores sempre cantaram suas músicas em grande parte da mesma forma e sem muitas variações em termos melódicos; Dio era um camaleão em termos de capacidade de contrução de desenhos médicos em única música em um show para o outro e sem falar que ele era um mestre em manipulação vocal e compressão hiperglotal, ele manipulava perfeitamente sua entonação e dava a ele uma crítica habilidade pra cantar 3 a 4 tipos de vozes ou timbres diferentes de um disco para o outro; Freddie foi um dos maiores do rock sim mas Ronnie ao meu ver estava em outro nível em termos de capacidade vocal, poder, controle e consistência tonal.

Both are great, but I think that Dio wins this battle. For those who are used to only listening to the famous albums that Dio was part of (such as "Heaven and Hell" and "Holy Diver"), it is quite obvious to say that Dio has a better voice when it comes to "metal". But Dio, without a doubt, could sing anything. If you dive into his career since the time he was the lead singer for "Dio and The Prophets," you will find that, under that famous growl and powerful voice (with a ton of rasp), there was a hugely amazing and beautiful clean voice. Or even listen to the beginnings of songs like "As Long As It's Not About Love," "My Eyes," and "Don't Talk to Strangers," and you will come across huge flexibility. His timbre is unique, with a quality to transition between melodic and aggressive in such a way that it almost easily surpasses Freddie Mercury. I just imagine Dio fronting for Queen and singing songs like "Who Wants to Live Forever." That would have been amazing!

A lot of singers, Mark Martel for example almost reach Freddie, but NO ONE come closer of Dio
Marc isn't close neither are the other "sound a likes"; Dio is impossible to reproduce due his naturally large range and amazing technique showing how unique it was. Freddie however is also impossible to reproduce due to also having abnormalities in his vocals. Any one trained in the voice would be able to clearly differentiate Marc Martel from Freddie along with any of his tributes; same for Dio. Cheers!

im a queen fan since i was 10 years old, (i have the Larry Lurex single of i can hear music, just to show you how fan i am of Mercury). When i was 22 i discovered Dio. I immediatly loved his voice coz Mercury and Dio has a lot i common. I also had the chance to knew Dio once in Barcelona. That said, Ronnie James Dio is the best best best singer in Rock history. Why? his voice is more than unique, you can find Greta singer sounding like Plant, or Marc Martel sounding like Freddie. But no one sounds like Dio, its imposible, its a mistery of this univers. His technic is owesome. His feeling is pure drama and emotion, his registers and colors are uniques. Mercury is at the same level than Dio but he fails in technic (you can see it live) and thats a big problem.

I cannot make comparisons with the two legends that sing a lot in their musical aspects.
I think Ronnie wins in his style, and freddie wins in his style too, but if we compare they in a live performance, probably Dio wins, but in Studio, i think in my opinion, Freddie wins because when i hear his voice (freddie) i hear something that touches my heart and my soul, a special think i cant understand yet. In conclusion, these legends will never be beaten, for their history and voice, i dont think this 2 legends will fight, i think they will work together in the sky, to make the perfect sound in the heaven and hell... The problem I faced when I made this video was that it's really rare to get hands on Acapella's,
Dio has like 2 or 3 good quality Acapellas on entire internet
To put these two juggernauts in a battle I thought to use similiar kind of songs from each of these legends and that would be heavy metal songs
And I couldn't find naked versions of Freddie's heavy metal songs so has to use them upfront against Dio's heavy metal Acapella's

I searched for Stargazer a lot at the time I made this video but can't really get my hands on it, Isolated vocals are rare to find.
Will definitely try to get my hands on it for the next Dio Battle, I already have a version but it doesn't sound good

Queen’s production was probably higher level cause they were more mainstream, so maybe there is a little quality bias do to that
But it’s a really close call
