As I was watching the piece develop and then looking at the finished result, all I could do was chuckle. It must be fun to think this stuff up and watch it come to fruition. Great work as usual. Thanks for lightening up my day. :))
Thanks for your kind comment. One of my satisfactions in wood turning is to visualize and then succeed in making that vision into reality. Only by God's grace. Thanks for watching, Tommy
Hi Tom, Astonishing!!! I have seen many different people make Tumbling Block bowls, platters and chopping boards but I have never seen it done this way. This has now just become my favourite piece I have seen you make. Absolutely brilliant and beautiful. Take care Tom. Cheers, Huw
Thank you very much, Huw. I really appreciate your comments and support. I have always admired M.C. Escher and it was fun trying to replicate a pattern. Thanks so much for watching, Tommy
Thanks, Vitaliy. I actually thought of you when I posted this and hoped you would like the segmented design. I appreciate you watching. All is good here in crazy land, USA. Tommy
That is a beautiful bowl I love watching your videos u make it look so easy but to the people that actually do wood turning they know it isn't keep up the awsome work...
always remember something.. try to eliminate the math. it's needed, but necessary? kinda... it's art. that helps with skills. let the mind wander more than the tape measure.
Tommy, how do you come up with so many wonderful ideas and wood turnings? It amazes me to see so much creativeness on a weekly basis. You’re definitely a man with a God given talent who makes good use of it. Keep those wood shavings flying. I enjoy watching you turn wood!👍👍👍👍 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I definitely give glory to God for giving me His inspiration. I have always admired M.C. Escher and it was fun trying to replicate a pattern. Thanks so much for watching, Tommy
Wowzers! Again! You have me totally amazed. They are such a work of art, made with love, care to detail/ colors. I'm gonna be watching most of your videos probably. The other turner I recently found is Gao Woodturning. He is also amazing. Y'all work magic with the wood. Thanks for another good wood. Stay safe
Firstly i gotta say i love the pattern, secondly, its nice to have a choice of what you want to see :).I can see a few different patterns if i focus on them :) gr8 job again, keep the inspiration coming :).
Awesome! Thank you! Check out my community page. I have posted several of my plans for bowls. If you want the plans that I drew up for this bowl, let me know and I will post it for you. Thanks for watching, and Happy New Year!
@@squarepegtommy7670 I'm not quite up to speed with "Community Pages". Yes, I'd like the plans for the bowls. I'm particularly interested in the angles. Thanks!
@@tomjpt When you are on my main page, you should see "Home", "Videos", Playlists". and then "Community". Click on Community and several plans will come up. Hope this helps.
Got it! Well, sort of. I saw several plans but not the ones for the McEscher Bowl. No big rush but if you get a chance or perhaps just tell me the angle at which you ripped the pieces.
Wow! Yet another beautiful piece of work. A question please...in your shop tour video, you show a leather strop wheel for honing. Would you share its source, please? Thanks and anticipating your next video.
Thanks for viewing my shop! It is not a leather strop. It is a WoodRiver 120 grit, 8 inch by 1 inch CBN grinding wheel / Woodcraft item #159256. Thanks for watching, Tommy
Thank you very much. It took 8 to 10 hours of cutting and gluing. Turning on the lathe took about 2 hours. I worked on it about 2 weeks total. Thank you for watching.
Man, that is just flat-out stunning. I admire your tenacity as well as the skill and vision. Takes a lot of dedication to execute the detailed process on display here. I have a technical question. I notice that you rarely (never?) apply glue to both sides of a joint and sometimes don't even spread glue before joining surfaces. Do you sometimes encounter problems due to these practices?
Thank you so much 😀 I use so much glue on my surfaces that when I clamp it, the glue oozes out of the joints and actually spreads itself. I have never had a glue joint fail. My son claims that I should have stock in the glue industry because I use so much. Thanks for watching! Tommy
Beautiful! Is that maple and pine? I've been intimidated by this 3D style because I've only ever seen it done in three species of expensive hardwoods. Thanks for sharing. Your videos have been a huge inspiration on my latest projects.
Thanks! I used maple and cherry. The cherry had a definite grain that did what I wanted for the "tops". By the way, I get all of my wood from a burn pile at a cabinet shop so very few exotics for me! Thanks for watching, Tom
This is the best "tumbling" bowl I've seen. I really like your work. Excellent job.
Thanks so much 😊
