    I preserve my yam by cutting, washing and putting it straight up in the freezer and is still good. Will try this tip as well.

      Whem i took it out the freezer it looked brown/ black. It was my 1st time freezing it so i thought let me still cook it and see what will happen. But then whlist cooking it, i noticed it was turning more black/ brown

    This is exactly how I preserve my yams and plantain except the yam chips which I just learnt a new tricks on putting in a boiled water and allow to seamer for some seconds then add salt before freezing. I can't wait to try it that to see the difference

My daughter's town has black outs sooo much that me & all my friends were asking," are we in the village?" 😂😂😂😂 Terrible!!! She was 3 days without electric on several occasions and that is Crazy for Living in the USA!!!

    Thanks for the new tips Flo. I love freezing excess plantains, but I noticed it gets cooked faster, I have to prep everything before I start cooking, else it will get mushy.

    For one second before watching I thought you were going to cover the whole yam with clay like we used to do in the village farm before storing in the barn!😂. Thanks, this is a much easier, convenient and modern way of doing it.

      I had pictured you in front of a barn in Spain tying up clay covered yams with barn twigs all ready for the winter months, I just burst out laughing at my ridiculous thoughts when I saw you peeling the tubers ready for the freezer. Na wa oo, can’t take the Igbo village out of the gal!😍

    Hi, someone mentioned how plantain is hard to make. Here is how: wash n peel, you can cut it up if you are using the blender, or grate whole using your grater, whip until refine(grated). Add to boiling water containing cinnamon leaves and stir until its smooth. Allow to cook, while cooking its colour changes to a beautiful light yellowish/orange. Add your mixed powdered milk n let boil in for about ten minutes, or use your tin milk to sweetened, you can now add your nutmeg, vanilla ect. If milk is not enough, you can add a little sugar to fully sweetened, Don't forget a pinch of salt. Now enjoy. JAMAICA...👍👍💌💌

      Make sure your freezer temperature is not too cold because that can be too harsh for the food items. Then make sure the ziploc bags are tightly zipped.

    I truly love your cooking tips.... I do have a question...not sure if I missed the explanation...but after freezing the plantains/yams etc..do you have to thaw it prior to using or fry them frozen?? Thank you so much!!

    I use both aluminium and paper. The trick for the foil is to scrunch it up first then open it up and use! (The more creases the less sticky!
