      This video was a great find. Mom asked about this so I did a TH-cam search. Tell me, after blanching you still have to finish cooking the potatoes according to what type of dish you're preparing right? I'm guessing there's no way to freeze fully cooked potatoes, right? Any ideas on how to accomplish this? 🙏🏾

    Wow 🤩, my mind is blown away... I used to buy a 5lb bag of potatoes and the bag would sit in the pantry and go bad. I never knew this... now I’m going to have potatoes anytime and save 💰💰💰. Thank you so much for sharing.

      @Barbara. I have been in the same boat as you, having a 5lb bag go bad and turn into brown smelly water! Now I know what to do.

    I use my Instant Pot to steam the cut potatoes before freezing. Steam for 1 minutes, let the pressure release for 3 minutes, cool and then freeze. I have also parboiled them too. And I use my Food Processor to dice them or slice them. I've never shredded them and froze them though.
    Great Video. Thanks very much.

      Thank you for all those great ideas, I like the steam idea, it will take less water since is in the instant pot. Do you put a lot of potatoes when you do it this way?
      Cause when I do my eggs (I have a short in the channel) I put as many eggs as I want and just little of water, all the eggs cook perfectly

      I love food prep and I have to freeze because it's just me, but groceries are cheaper when bought in bulk so I spend a day cutting and freezing onions and bell peppers and other veggies and I spend an entire day meal prep cooking. I am a truck driver and work 5 days, so when I get home for my 2 days off I don't want to spend half the say cooking and cleaning. I pick one day of the month for shopping and prepping and can easily go 2 months just thawing and reheating my meals plus I have meals I take on the road with me. It's saved me so much money compared to nasty truck stop food 😅.
      With this economy every penny counts.
      Waste not want not so frozen taters will be great

I keep going back and getting more once I have processed a couple bags so I don’t waste the bounty. Thanks, this is very good info!! Interestingly potatoes are freezed in the andes by the high elevation and its freezing night temperatures.
    The people add value to the crop because lower down they can't store potatoes and during the lean times they get a better price.
    They simply place the potatoes outside on the ground and lightly spray water during the subzero night temperature and then store once dried out. In skin. No peeling

    I'm here like the rest of you because things are getting a little dicey and was told that you couldn't freeze potatoes. Grocery prices are going through the roof and instant potatoes kinda suck balls. Thank you for providing this video. Heading to the store tomorrow for some taters while I can.

    • @ByEya
      @ByEya  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do not defrost just throw them in the pot or baking sheet straight to the hot oven, you should not have to cut anything since it’s already peeped

    Very good tips! I harvested my potatoes from my vegetable garden and I want to freeze them too! Just a quick question, Do you need to freeze them on a tray first or can I also put them straight in to zip-lock bags? My freezer is very small so a regular baking tray won't fit haha!

    • @ByEya
      @ByEya  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, you must always blanch then freeze in a flat containers, if the tray don’t fit just check anything you might have in the kitchen that fits in the freezer, my advice is : if you are using something that could stick like a plate you should use a parchment paper to avoid this.
      Please if you have any questions let me know and thank you for watching

    I had a bag of potatoes that started sprouting heavily. I knocked off the sprouts. I microwave the whole potatoes and then froze them. I vacuum pack them for long storage. They came out watery after thawing because I only microwaved them only rare. But I can still cut them into small pieces. They make great fried potato hash or American fries. Probably would be good for mashed potatoes too.

    • @ByEya
      @ByEya  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi thank you for watching
      I don’t think the problem is the microwave process, I think the problem is thawing,
      I usually cook them straight from the freezer if you still have some in the freezer try and let us know, I am curious because I do cook potatoes in the microwave 😁 I just posted a video about it couple days ago on my Instagram (eya.s.corner)

    • @NormBaker.
      @NormBaker. ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ByEya The water of frozen vegetables evaporates faster then it can drain out during cooking. Of course I froze the whole potatoes. In that case I had to thaw to cut up.

  • @claireb1658
