      It only takes one time for the lake to give way!, JACKPOT! - Fishers Lake Towing! Hey man,
      You're going to make a small fortune, if you invest in a little High powered Tugboat, and Towbars! Ya just don't know what will come to happen next.....!
      Too bad no fish. But, as long as you had fun., And
      A bit of a scare being stuck on the lake. Chalk that up with a mental note! That ice wasn't thick enough to be safe, and, "Aagghh"!!!!, You weaken it by Drilling a Freakin right next to your truck! Seemed to me like you were tempting fate! I could not even get near a large body of water like that because I have Thalassophobia...
      I like to sometimes acasionally watch videos with deep bodies of water but actually being near one will really scare me...
      Heck, I even dreaded the fact that I had to go to the beach once and I was was scared when I got to the beach...
      I was nervous, shaking a little, my heart rate definitely increased a bit, and I thought for sure I was going to die at any moment while I was there.

    If you haven’t already, Fisher, would you consider slapping on the GoPro while cooking some fish? Show the whole thing from hooking it, gutting it, to cooking it? It’s been over 11 years since the last time I did it, but I still remember a thing or two about perfect filleting a pike. It’s a pain, but worth it. But never had a panfish or small perch before.

      For the guys it's easier as usual. The big hassle as always is bathrooms.i used to love it too until I got hurt at work after that I can't tolerate being outside in the cold much at all. I recommend you don't drink a lot of liquids. The other thing is to dress right proper foot wear water proof winter boots. Water will be standing on the ice & if your feet are wet your done for. Wear wicking clothing that way if you do work up a sweat your clothes would be damp & you'll be freezing. Remember to dress in layers.
      You can use an old tent as a shanty. Or make one out of wood & tarps that hooks together. I saw one the other day a guy made on one of the lakes in my area. He said it cost about $75 to make & most of that was for the interlocking hinges he bought to use to put it together. He made it big enough for 2 & he made 2 more sections so if the kid goes he'll have a spot to. He even found a couple broken sleds & made a sled for him to haul stuff out on the Lake. He said his neighbour moved & threw away the tarps so he figured he could use them for something. He went to a place that had shanties & looked at them went home & made his own up. He had his Coleman lantern was going to heat it with that. Which is what my son & grandson do heat thier shanty with thier lantern. I'll be honest you'll either love it or hate. It depends if you can deal with the cold. The guys go & they leave early & come home after dark.
      They'll go to ice fishing tournament's which you check in freaking early sometimes like 5AM, end about 4PM. All these folks are all together with thier shanties in a group with the food cook in the center. It's a good size group of people that go. Couples, father & son/daughter they take a mess of stuff a cook stove with them a big pot pre-make the Chili at home, take brats, burgs, buns, crackers, chips, & I always send a dessert it's endless some times. . They take bowls, plates pots, pans, silverware, napkins & coolers of beverages & thermos too. One thing I can proudly say that group doesn't leave anything on the ice when they leave. I started it about 35 years ago or so that I brought a box of garbage bags & I tied or taped it to the coolers for the cans & then put one about every other shanty. My kids got the cans they also got the ones from softball too & since majority of the guys also played on the softball team it worked.
      We're in Indiana haven't really had a cold enough winter in a long time, to be able to drive a truck out on our lakes in a while..
      My son started Ice fishing with his Dad add day when he was about 8 or so. Funny thing was that kid would out fish all the adults because he'd get bored & play with his pole. He did it in the summer from the age of 3 up. I'm bored. When can we go swimming? When are we eating? Our daughter did the same thing too. Except she didn't want to ice fish she wanted to ice skate or go sledding.
      Tell you what though fish caught in the winter are the best. The meats firmer & they taste better. I don't like summer caught fish. I'll catch them & cook them for everyone else but I won't eat them. But I will eat fish caught during the winter.
      Give it a try it can be a lot of fun & a way to spend time together. If you have kids you can teach them too & make it a family outings.

      @@activitycharger9076 if you want to know on his and your dad's truck there is 4 modes: 2 high, auto, 4 high and 4low 2 high means it's in 2 wheel drive. Auto means it's basically a all wheel drive in the sense that if the truck sences slip it will apply power to the front wheels. 4 high is 4wheel drive in high range so the transfer case doesn't apply a gear reduction. 4low is 4 wheel drive in low range so the tcase changes the gear ratio from 1:1 to 2.69:1 so it gives you more pulling power

    Well Tyler. It seems as though you need to get stuck a few times to learn how to get out of that situation. Digging oneself out is one way but, rocking that truck back and forth sure gets you out. Also, try not to get too excited and try not to spin the tires at first. If that doesn't work, I rock it, then I try to get the tires warm so they stick to the spot your in and let it sit, then give it a little gas and you might find that little sticky spot you created, is enough to get you some traction so gat you out. Can't beat 4 wheel drive my friend!!

    • @marthamitchell9452
      @marthamitchell9452 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He has an automatic transmission so he needs to be careful rocking it. My friend’s son fried their transmission trying to rock their Jeep out of mud with his buddies telling him how. Got a little carried away on the shifting and blew it up.

    • @trybriguy1357
      @trybriguy1357 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@marthamitchell9452 Well, I don't want to create an argument here but, first, mud and snow are completely different stories. And than there's a correct way to do it. Thanks for telling us that he got carried away, easy to do if you start making headway. Now, I'm 64 YO and I've been driving in snow all my life. If you have a 2 wheel drive, it's a giving you had better learn really quick how to do it. In a 4 wheel drive, it's not too often you need to. I think Tyler should think about buying some aggressive tires for that truck. He looks like he's on summer tires. In his area, he needs to upgrade for the winter, as he should never have to rock a 4 wheel drive truck. If he's going to keep running those tires, he better learn how to do it correctly, as he got stuck in a small amount of snow!!. JMO.

    • @marthamitchell9452
      @marthamitchell9452 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@trybriguy1357 yes they are different. I prefer to run all weather or mud and snow tires on my trucks even in summer as I tend to do a lot of driving on unpaved roads. Right now I’m running studs on my winter tires as we actually got some winter this year, however I have gone many snowy winters with unstudded tires when I couldn’t afford them. I also add weight to the rear axle area in winter for traction. All part of learning cold weather driving and driving a pickup as opposed to a car, like don’t place the weight just inside the tailgate but over the axle instead. That learning experience can be wild 😜.

    • @trybriguy1357
      @trybriguy1357 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marthamitchell9452 I couldn't agree with you more. Weight over the rear axel makes all the difference as well as having snow tires on it too. One of the best trucks I've owned were trucks with a plow on the front and my tools boxes full and my racks on it too. I never got stuck with those set ups. And I never needed my plow to get out either. I've always owned 3/4 ton Chevy trucks and I spend more time waiting for people to get out of my way. I figure Tyler will learn as he goes along, as well all have in the learning life lessons through practice, and have I practiced a lot, LOL Thanks for getting back to me with a informative and mature post!!!

      @marthamitchell9452 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@trybriguy1357 since I am only 2 years younger than you I hope I can be mature. 😂 The poor kid I knew had his friends telling him to slam that shifter back and forth really quick instead of just helping him pull it out. He hadn’t had his license very long and there went his dad’s Jeep. $4000 and a new transmission later and it still wouldn’t run right. His dad was our pastor and needed a car so we gave him one of ours. Son still hasn’t finished paying back his dad. I would just hate to see that nice new truck end up the same. We got our side x side high centered on the plow frame on a frozen manure pile last week and it didn’t take long to figure out using the tractor to pull it off was the best idea.

    About how thick was that ice? I'd get too nervous driving on that.
    Also. I'd put some kind of orange cone or maybe a small metal spike with orange paint on it stuck in the ice right next to the drill holes you made. That way someone else driving out there doesn't accidently drive INTO the hole you made. That..... would NOT be good.
