I kinda understand why he started to die as soon as his gem was removed - not just the fact that it's innately part of him, but all that damage to his body over the course of the show? That gemstone might be the only thing holding his body together at this point.
Also yeah, he was a kid when he faced all the bone shattering wounds, the many near death situations for him and his parental figures, trying to live up to ridiculously high expectations as well as helping people with their deep seated mental issues. The PTSD was inevitable.
Every action show with a child main protagonist never has a problem with, like, fighting literal gods on the daily and enduring ridiculous amounts of pain/suffering. I LOVE that this show has a realistic take on what a child superhero’s life would be like further down the line.
Me too! You'll see all kinds of memes and jokes about say... Mario getting fed up with having to rescue the princess... lol, but that's all just fan stuff. Steven Universe Future is amazing because it's 100% canon to the original show and does an amazing and interesting take on how Steven's crazy gem adventures affected him. That's not something you always see. It's a much more realistic take on, well, what a young superhero's life would be like, exactly like you said! Lol. That's one of the many things I love about it.

I can only think of one moment where he would have had an eye injury like that and that's was when Jasper kidnapped him and the rest of the CGs. Gave him a black eye.

What pissed me off most about that part was Marco saying the blood moon was baloney. It wasn’t. It appearing everytime he missed Jackie, when Star kisses Marco in the booth and Marcos crescent moon marks, the fact that it was nothing pisses me off to no end. It’s such a stupid backpedal and retcons so much evidence.
Let’s not forget the fact that throughout the entire series, Steven has been either thrown against enemies or at objects by the Crystal Gems, falls so many times, and been hurting himself due to circumstances of his adventures (eg. when a rock hits Steven’s head in Strong in the Real Way) and we all thought that it’s a comedy gag. Hence the fractures on his skull. On top of that, we keep hearing how Steven often blames himself and apologizing for things that he never did. Like you said in that one episode, the fact that Steven mentions to the Cool Kids that he believes that he’s the reason why everything is going downhill and how the Crystal Gems expect him to be like Rose/Pink. He’s been self torturing/ self hating himself and he doesn’t know it until much later. So not only was he hurting himself physically, he’s also hurting himself both emotionally and mentally. So what do we learn? *STEVEN NEEDS A FRICKIN THERAPIST AND A THOUSAND HUGS IMMEDIATELY!!!*
At this point....I really hope Steven or someone else would literally call out all three of the Crystal Gems for not only everything they unintentional but ALSO for being too thickhead to realize what the hell been going on with him since Prickly Pairs. Garnet include. You know......the fusion who calls Steven her "cutie pie". The fusion who has FUTURE VISION THIS ENTIRE TIME!!!
The Gems don't need to be called out, they know they were messing up. They acknowledged it back in season one, they just have no idea what they're doing and are trying their best. They tried to keep him out of the action for as long as they could but with corrupted gems everywhere and Peridot's arrival he was going to get dragged in no matter what.
I think at this point there's nothing to really gain from calling them out. This is something that's already been addressed and reconciled with storywise and if they included that here they run the risk of making it seem like the show runners are blaming them for Steven refusing to open up to them. Like it or not if Steven doesn't want to talk he's not going to talk. He's made that pretty damn clear. Those of us who have been through a similar situation may feel like the show is calling US out for not pushing someone harder to talk when they were never going to talk in the first place.
Garnet is awful at comforting people lol. Amethyst has tried to talk to him, pearl has tried in Prickly Pair, Connie and Greg offered support in this episode. He has a support system around him, he feels guilty.. They can't hold him down and say "talk this out"

Well good thing you didn't become a power ranger lololol. To answer your question though, most stories show you what happens DURING the adventure. SU Future takes place FOUR YEARS AFTER the main series, and that's not something you always see. Now that he's a teenager, everything is just coming back to hit Steven like a truck.

In the episode growing pain Dr maheshewahen( idk how to spell it) told steven, "You're sixteen and you never been to the doctor!!" That basically confirms he is still sixteen. No not basically, it does confirms that he is still sixteen.

All of Steven’s past trauma we all accepted as cartoon action for the plot, but having it all laid bare for what it really was-trauma-was both satisfying to hear, and equally horrifying.

Steven just turned from this sweet boy who wants to help everyone, into a mess of depression and trauma. I feel like that's how things actually work in real life though. One day your smiling from ear to ear and the next your alone in your room crying. I'm not trying to make fun of anyone with trauma or depression, it's just that you guys probably have some of the toughest things to go through.
Greggo coming through in the clutch. “You don’t have to solve all your problems in one night” is an attitude Steven has needed to hear for a LONG time.
I think it's very telling that Steven puts the cancellation of Cookie Cat on par with literally everything else horrible that's happened to him. Kind of goes to prove what Connie's mother was telling him about his trauma.
The song that Steven sang, the first few lines ‘I’d rather be tall, I’d rather be smart’ is a parallel to Greg’s Let Me Drive My Van Into Your Heart with ‘I know I’m not that tall, I know I’m not that smart’. I liked that little detail in the songs.

I felt really bad in my chest when Steven screamed to Connie. This show how much Steven has been through Btw when Connie's mom show him his X-ray results, we can see 3 skull cracks, does that mean he like died tree times but his powers save him? And I just figured out that if Steven broke something his powers heals him immediately, so in that clip in the promo when Steven rush in his house with his hand in his pocket, its corruption.... *CORRUPTION YA GET IT* And this show is getting better and better

I can't agree more about how GOOD Steven Universe Future has been. It's weird to have such a great final season after the butchering of Star Vs. Season 4. (Proceeds to knock on all the wood).

It took me about an hour from when I started "Together Forever" to finally get to the end because I kept pausing it to cringe at how bad I knew it was going to be when he got turned down. Turned out much better than I feared (Connie is the bestest of girls), but still.
It REALLY hurt me- especially watching it back now... since I was dating a girl online, but I couldn't be over there for her, and only be there virtually, and felt guilt, because I relied on her since I felt truly happy when I was with her, now im dealing with the aftermath of her rejecting me and cheating on me... Ugh- this episode kills me inside, I had to skip it.

When you think about it: it’s the Crystal Gems fault Steven is like this, putting him through so many traumatic experiences, not exactly healthy for a child.
Wouldn’t it be also part of Greg’s fault? He’s the one who let Steven stay with the Gems and do “gem stuff” that was clearly dangerous. And yes, I do agree the Gems were at fault, but how would they know how to properly raise a kid? It should have been Greg raising Steven.
@@deffdefying4803 The most Connie did was get justifiably upset at Steven martyring himself in I Am My Mom, because they made the promise in Sworn to the Sword they'd try and do it all together. Hell, if you count Together Forever, even then she isn't at fault- she doesn't even reject Steven, she just said "not now". On the topic of some forgotten mistreatments: - Greg straight up pretended Steven's healing spit didn't work in House Guest, which ruins Steven's confidence badly enough that his healing spit straight up doesn't work until Monster Reunion (65 episodes pass in-between these two episodes, which is also 2 technical seasons apart. Just, yeesh). He used it as an excuse to hang out with Steven, buuuuut why'd he need an excuse to be around his son in the first place? Yeah he wasn't in good standings with the Gems, but Steven's still his son. - Amethyst never actually apologized for shapeshifting into Rose in Maximum Capacity, not only hurting Steven, but also hurting Greg. She apologizes to Greg, but not to Steven. - Pearl never apologizes nor clarifies what she genuinely meant by her dissuasion of Steven healing Amethyst in An Indirect Kiss. While what Steven tells Connie isn't what she actually said ("Oh, Steven, you don't actually have healing tears. You'll never have any real magic powers, and we don't want anything more to do with you." "She didn't really say that." "No, but that's what it felt like."), the fact that Steven was able to interpret it that way is worrying. Even what she actually said before that ("I'm pretty sure Garnet and I unplugging the clogged chamber brought the fountain back to life.") is incredibly dismissive, to the point where Garnet counters it ("We saved Amethyst."). But since Steven's still down when he retells the story, it's clear Pearl never realized what she said would have such an affect. - Garnet doesn't really apologize for being rash with the Mirror Gem/Ocean Gem situation. Instead of trying to listen to Steven, and his incredibly valid points, she ignored it in favor of trying to take the mirror, which made the situation worse. The closest she gets to apologizing is just saying he's un-grounded at the start of Ocean Gem, but it does little to amend that she genuinely scared Steven by losing her temper and wasn't willing to hear his side of things, having been with the mirror most of the day. Not to say they're inherently bad, just that it kinda bums me out they were (unintentionally) giving Steven mixed signals on what he should/shouldn't do, failed to properly recognize he could be helpful in contributing despite being the solution to many of their problems early season 1 (and boy howdy does this flip for the worse after Jailbreak), and making Steven think he had to earn their attention and worth (the quote above in An Indirect Kiss highlights this a bit, but Gem Glow shows how panicked he was at the notion of never receiving his powers, Steven vs. Amethyst has Steven talk about how he's working so hard because he's *_not_* Rose and is trying to be, Prickly Pair has Steven rant about his need to be needed, etc.).
"I don't know, Dan-" "Together Forever" made me so, uncomfortable I had to keep pausing it since I knew Steven was going to get rejected(, I was spoiled but, even if I wasn't he was way to happy)... Steven is honestly so relatable, I haven't been rejected before but, situations involving love do feel like that, it's a "Yeah, that just happened-" positive or, negative. "Growing Pains" made me cry because Greg is a gift... I've seen people say that Steven should suck it up and, talk to people but, it's seriously not that easy especially for Steven, he can't talk to the crystal gems because it makes him uncomfortable and, he probably feels it'll make things awkward, can't talk to regular gems since they wouldn't get and, aren't that involved with him or, humans enough to understand the huge issue and, can't talk to most humans as they wouldn't get it... the only people he'd be able to talk to are Greg, Connie, a medical professional who knows Steven or, understands how the gems work and, Pink's gems... so, this is perfect since in a way, he talked to all of them minus Pink's gems( which he has actually done before he just hasn't gone in-depth with his issues to them). (If a medical professional knew the gems are linked to/caused most of this, they'd most likely suggest he stays away from the gems as they're a huge cause of his issues... this would cause more problems for him but, the answer is usually to get away from the thing causing you problems even if you love them( now I'm not saying he should do this seems like it'd do more harm than good but, that is an answer that is given sometimes).) (Steven is a character I wish was real just so, we can talk and, hang out... the guy feels way too relatable and, it's painful watching him get screwed over at every turn, I just to hug him and, tell him to relax for a bit and, vent while we just chill, seriously I'm so thankful for "Growing Pains"... this stuff really needed to be addressed... also, yeah hearing "cortisol" made me extremely shocked, not in a 'happy they addressed it way' but, in a 'surprised they actually brought up "cortisol"' way and, 'he seriously needs help' way.)
What's crazy is that the x-ray of Steven's body shows that his gem stabilizes his spine. This would mean that his human side developed around his gem, explaining Rose's birthing process a bit. But also, it really puts having his gem removed in perspective. White Diamond removed something that was literally and figuratively holding Steven together, no wonder it's at the forefront of his trauma. Geez, literally everything from episode one in season one up until change your mind was just constant trauma. What's more is that he's helped (or attempted to help) many of the people who caused his trauma, including Jasper and nephrite. I can only imagine that encountering some of the gems who have threatened his life (aquamarine, eyeball, Jasper,etc) that he's still having issues with might actually be prolonging his trauma.

I’m crying. I’m really crying. This episode punched me right in the feels. I kind of know how Steven feels. I knew what the problem was and I’m happy they addressed this. I’m getting so sick of people bashing Steven by calling him selfish when he can’t control it! Whenever his powers affects other people, it’s not intentional. After 16 years of never having a normal human life, fighting for his life, experiencing death or “death”, nearly losing his friends, having near death experiences himself, always fighting, being captured/kidnapped and held against his will, paying for everything his mom did that have nothing to do with him, having a gem he doesn’t even know pop out of nowhere to try and kill him, getting a piece of him ripped right out of him, never having a break, even something goes wrong when he has a break, he had to stop his aunts tyranny across space, and that’s not even have of that. Sadly, it’s all caught up to him. He never had a normal human kid experience. He’s never been to school, he doesn’t know what grade he should be in, he’s 16 and never been to a doctor, people always dumped their problems on him, he’s always experienced something horrible in his life, and now he can’t help but to react to these traumas physically and mentally. Anxiety is a very serious issue. Your body reacts as if your shutting down and dying, you have cognitive thoughts rushing through your mind, you experience chest pain, palpitations, you have trouble breathing, you get scared even when it’s calm, you feel a sense of impending danger or doom, you hyperventilate, you get nervous/restless/tense, even minor things can trigger it, uncontrollable shaking, and all that other fun stuff. There is no cure for anxiety or ptsd. You can only get better, not cured, but better. I hated that. Sometimes, I went into tunnel vision, couldn’t breath at all, and was scared that I was dying and my dad was no help. He’d get mad probably thinking that I was being ridiculous over stupid reasons and being a big baby over nothing. Whenever I got anxiety attacks, he would just yell telling me to “grow up” and say “there are children, probably younger than you, who are dying in a hospital right about now, not going to live to see another Christmas and you’re sitting there thinking you’re dying over nothing! That’s stupid!” I wish I had a gentle and understanding Greg dad. 😭 Anyway, at least they got somewhere in this episode. Steven FINALLY went to go see a medical professional and hopefully will be going to a therapist. And that the gem equivalent of the “stress hormone” called cortisol is affecting him so not only is it affecting his brain, but it’s also affecting his gem. Last time I checked, his emotions affect the powers within his gem, for example, when he is falling, he had to learn that thinking of something that makes him happy in order to float down safely. Now all of this ptsd, anxiety and depression is having the absolute worse type of affects on his gem as well as his body and mind. There’s no shame in seeing a therapist Steven. Question is, who will be his therapist?

As a kid watching SU, I had never questioned the numerous amount of traumatic stuff happening to Steven. I was used to kid shows brushing off things like getting physically injured or mentally scarred, because it was always passed off as a joke. It's a good thing, what SUF is doing with the characters

I can't wait for the hopeful day when I have someone ask me "What is Steven Universe" and we sit down and watch Season 1. I'd have to point out to when watching the "Cookie-Kat" episode and say... "Now I want you to remember this episode, because you may think this is just some fun, innocent and childish thing about the Cookie-Kats being cancelled, but... Let on you'll know." And then hopefully they'll realize that losing his precious Cookie-Kats was that last childish "trauma" he'd ever have in his life from then on... This episode connected with me and I believe others because there's just the smallest faintest moments in our childhood that stays with us and we never notice the effects. Most of us remember the happy moments, like our favorite cartoons, family vacations, best friends now long removed from us... There's a lot of things, bad things, that effect us as kids but we just cry it out, go to sleep, and wake up to a brand-new day and forget about it like a bad-dream, not nightmare, but just a bad-dream; and forget about it. This episode went deep and brought out everything "Steven Universe: Future" has been building toward, but on a deep revealing level. I thought Steven Universe: Future was just a showing of any other kid who didn't meet the standard of the rest of the kids who were prepared to go to college and make a life for themselves after graduating... It's much more deeper than that. Again, Steven Universe has shown us the other side of other people who look in the mirror... and made us reflect on how it feels, even if we're not that person suffering that's looking in the mirror.
the way you get hyped up and excited when something that could potentially help Steven happens (or when Greg shows up) makes this show so much more important and special than it already is.
This is what I love about this current season, it finally shows all the traumatic events that happened in his life and how it affects him both mentally and physically, now that he's growing up and all his friends and family are leaving him behind, he's gonna get really depressed if he doesn't decide to do smth with his life. Lol I and my brother were screaming in that scene when Steven got on his knee to propose💍 and then she rejected him

I really think greg is the only one who truly deserves praise since he was a great father through everything i rarely see him through the show even when rewatched the series hell we barely know much of him besides his brother but hey thats my take
Yes Greg is a great and supportive father.What I didn’t like (at least in the original series) is that Greg always left Steven to do his “gem stuff” that were clearly dangerous. Remember after Jail Break Greg was really worried about Steven? That lead no where and Steven still stayed with the Gems. At least Greg is supportive and loving towards Steven and cares about him.
mmm greg basically neglected him by projecting his ideas of “freedom” onto him, and therefore letting him go on Gem missions which would kill a regular child day one. he didn’t even go to school. he’s dumber than he should be for his age because his dad wanted to live vicariously through him.

Like you said in that one episode, the fact that Steven mentions to the Cool Kids that he believes that he’s the reason why everything is going downhill and how the Crystal Gems expect him to be like Rose/Pink. He’s been self torturing/ self hating himself and he doesn’t know it until much later. So not only was he hurting himself physically, he’s also hurting himself both emotionally and mentally.
So what do we learn? *STEVEN NEEDS A FRICKIN THERAPIST AND A THOUSAND HUGS IMMEDIATELY!!!*
At this point....I really hope Steven or someone else would literally call out all three of the Crystal Gems for not only everything they unintentional but ALSO for being too thickhead to realize what the hell been going on with him since Prickly Pairs.

The Gems don't need to be called out, they know they were messing up. They acknowledged it back in season one, they just have no idea what they're doing and are trying their best. They tried to keep him out of the action for as long as they could but with corrupted gems everywhere and Peridot's arrival he was going to get dragged in no matter what.
I think at this point there's nothing to really gain from calling them out. This is something that's already been addressed and reconciled with storywise and if they included that here they run the risk of making it seem like the show runners are blaming them for Steven refusing to open up to them. Like it or not if Steven doesn't want to talk he's not going to talk. He's made that pretty damn clear. Those of us who have been through a similar situation may feel like the show is calling US out for not pushing someone harder to talk when they were never going to talk in the first place.
Blame his mom won't change the past. He needs to move on.

Steven just turned from this sweet boy who wants to help everyone, into a mess of depression and trauma. I feel like that's how things actually work in real life though. One day your smiling from ear to ear and the next your alone in your room crying. I'm not trying to make fun of anyone with trauma or depression, it's just that you guys probably have some of the toughest things to go through.

“You don’t have to solve all your problems in one night” is an attitude Steven has needed to hear for a LONG time.
I think it's very telling that Steven puts the cancellation of Cookie Cat on par with literally everything else horrible that's happened to him. Kind of goes to prove what Connie's mother was telling him about his trauma.
The song that Steven sang, the first few lines ‘I’d rather be tall, I’d rather be smart’ is a parallel to Greg’s Let Me Drive My Van Into Your Heart with ‘I know I’m not that tall, I know I’m not that smart’. I liked that little detail in the songs.

Wouldn’t it be also part of Greg’s fault? He’s the one who let Steven stay with the Gems and do “gem stuff” that was clearly dangerous. And yes, I do agree the Gems were at fault, but how would they know how to properly raise a kid? It should have been Greg raising Steven.

@@deffdefying4803 The most Connie did was get justifiably upset at Steven martyring himself in I Am My Mom, because they made the promise in Sworn to the Sword they'd try and do it all together. Hell, if you count Together Forever, even then she isn't at fault- she doesn't even reject Steven, she just said "not now".
On the topic of some forgotten mistreatments:
- Greg straight up pretended Steven's healing spit didn't work in House Guest, which ruins Steven's confidence badly enough that his healing spit straight up doesn't work until Monster Reunion (65 episodes pass in-between these two episodes, which is also 2 technical seasons apart. Just, yeesh). He used it as an excuse to hang out with Steven, buuuuut why'd he need an excuse to be around his son in the first place? Yeah he wasn't in good standings with the Gems, but Steven's still his son.
- Amethyst never actually apologized for shapeshifting into Rose in Maximum Capacity, not only hurting Steven, but also hurting Greg. She apologizes to Greg, but not to Steven.
- Pearl never apologizes nor clarifies what she genuinely meant by her dissuasion of Steven healing Amethyst in An Indirect Kiss. While what Steven tells Connie isn't what she actually said ("Oh, Steven, you don't actually have healing tears. You'll never have any real magic powers, and we don't want anything more to do with you." "She didn't really say that." "No, but that's what it felt like."), the fact that Steven was able to interpret it that way is worrying. Even what she actually said before that ("I'm pretty sure Garnet and I unplugging the clogged chamber brought the fountain back to life.") is incredibly dismissive, to the point where Garnet counters it ("We saved Amethyst."). But since Steven's still down when he retells the story, it's clear Pearl never realized what she said would have such an affect.
- Garnet doesn't really apologize for being rash with the Mirror Gem/Ocean Gem situation. Instead of trying to listen to Steven, and his incredibly valid points, she ignored it in favor of trying to take the mirror, which made the situation worse. The closest she gets to apologizing is just saying he's un-grounded at the start of Ocean Gem, but it does little to amend that she genuinely scared Steven by losing her temper and wasn't willing to hear his side of things, having been with the mirror most of the day.
Not to say they're inherently bad, just that it kinda bums me out they were (unintentionally) giving Steven mixed signals on what he should/shouldn't do, failed to properly recognize he could be helpful in contributing despite being the solution to many of their problems early season 1 (and boy howdy does this flip for the worse after Jailbreak), and making Steven think he had to earn their attention and worth (the quote above in An Indirect Kiss highlights this a bit, but Gem Glow shows how panicked he was at the notion of never receiving his powers, Steven vs. Amethyst has Steven talk about how he's working so hard because he's *_not_* Rose and is trying to be, Prickly Pair has Steven rant about his need to be needed, etc.).

"Together Forever" made me so, uncomfortable I had to keep pausing it since I knew Steven was going to get rejected(, I was spoiled but, even if I wasn't he was way to happy)... Steven is honestly so relatable, I haven't been rejected before but, situations involving love do feel like that, it's a "Yeah, that just happened-" positive or, negative.
"Growing Pains" made me cry because Greg is a gift... I've seen people say that Steven should suck it up and, talk to people but, it's seriously not that easy especially for Steven, he can't talk to the crystal gems because it makes him uncomfortable and, he probably feels it'll make things awkward, can't talk to regular gems since they wouldn't get and, aren't that involved with him or, humans enough to understand the huge issue and, can't talk to most humans as they wouldn't get it... the only people he'd be able to talk to are Greg, Connie, a medical professional who knows Steven or, understands how the gems work and, Pink's gems... so, this is perfect since in a way, he talked to all of them minus Pink's gems( which he has actually done before he just hasn't gone in-depth with his issues to them).
(If a medical professional knew the gems are linked to/caused most of this, they'd most likely suggest he stays away from the gems as they're a huge cause of his issues... this would cause more problems for him but, the answer is usually to get away from the thing causing you problems even if you love them( now I'm not saying he should do this seems like it'd do more harm than good but, that is an answer that is given sometimes).)
(Steven is a character I wish was real just so, we can talk and, hang out... the guy feels way too relatable and, it's painful watching him get screwed over at every turn, I just to hug him and, tell him to relax for a bit and, vent while we just chill, seriously I'm so thankful for "Growing Pains"... this stuff really needed to be addressed... also, yeah hearing "cortisol" made me extremely shocked, not in a 'happy they addressed it way' but, in a 'surprised they actually brought up "cortisol"' way and, 'he seriously needs help' way.)
What's crazy is that the x-ray of Steven's body shows that his gem stabilizes his spine. This would mean that his human side developed around his gem, explaining Rose's birthing process a bit. But also, it really puts having his gem removed in perspective. White Diamond removed something that was literally and figuratively holding Steven together, no wonder it's at the forefront of his trauma. Geez, literally everything from episode one in season one up until change your mind was just constant trauma. What's more is that he's helped (or attempted to help) many of the people who caused his trauma, including Jasper and nephrite. I can only imagine that encountering some of the gems who have threatened his life (aquamarine, eyeball, Jasper,etc) that he's still having issues with might actually be prolonging his trauma.

That is literally the best way she could have let him down.

I’m crying. I’m really crying. This episode punched me right in the feels. I kind of know how Steven feels. I knew what the problem was and I’m happy they addressed this. I’m getting so sick of people bashing Steven by calling him selfish when he can’t control it! Whenever his powers affects other people, it’s not intentional. After 16 years of never having a normal human life, fighting for his life, experiencing death or “death”, nearly losing his friends, having near death experiences himself, always fighting, being captured/kidnapped and held against his will, paying for everything his mom did that have nothing to do with him, having a gem he doesn’t even know pop out of nowhere to try and kill him, getting a piece of him ripped right out of him, never having a break, even something goes wrong when he has a break, he had to stop his aunts tyranny across space, and that’s not even have of that. Sadly, it’s all caught up to him. He never had a normal human kid experience. He’s never been to school, he doesn’t know what grade he should be in, he’s 16 and never been to a doctor, people always dumped their problems on him, he’s always experienced something horrible in his life, and now he can’t help but to react to these traumas physically and mentally. Anxiety is a very serious issue. Your body reacts as if your shutting down and dying, you have cognitive thoughts rushing through your mind, you experience chest pain, palpitations, you have trouble breathing, you get scared even when it’s calm, you feel a sense of impending danger or doom, you hyperventilate, you get nervous/restless/tense, even minor things can trigger it, uncontrollable shaking, and all that other fun stuff. There is no cure for anxiety or ptsd. You can only get better, not cured, but better. I hated that. Sometimes, I went into tunnel vision, couldn’t breath at all, and was scared that I was dying and my dad was no help. He’d get mad probably thinking that I was being ridiculous over stupid reasons and being a big baby over nothing. Whenever I got anxiety attacks, he would just yell telling me to “grow up” and say “there are children, probably younger than you, who are dying in a hospital right about now, not going to live to see another Christmas and you’re sitting there thinking you’re dying over nothing! That’s stupid!” I wish I had a gentle and understanding Greg dad. 😭
Anyway, at least they got somewhere in this episode. Steven FINALLY went to go see a medical professional and hopefully will be going to a therapist. And that the gem equivalent of the “stress hormone” called cortisol is affecting him so not only is it affecting his brain, but it’s also affecting his gem. Last time I checked, his emotions affect the powers within his gem, for example, when he is falling, he had to learn that thinking of something that makes him happy in order to float down safely. Now all of this ptsd, anxiety and depression is having the absolute worse type of affects on his gem as well as his body and mind. There’s no shame in seeing a therapist Steven. Question is, who will be his therapist?

I can't wait for the hopeful day when I have someone ask me "What is Steven Universe" and we sit down and watch Season 1. I'd have to point out to when watching the "Cookie-Kat" episode and say... "Now I want you to remember this episode, because you may think this is just some fun, innocent and childish thing about the Cookie-Kats being cancelled, but... Let on you'll know."
And then hopefully they'll realize that losing his precious Cookie-Kats was that last childish "trauma" he'd ever have in his life from then on...
This episode connected with me and I believe others because there's just the smallest faintest moments in our childhood that stays with us and we never notice the effects. Most of us remember the happy moments, like our favorite cartoons, family vacations, best friends now long removed from us... There's a lot of things, bad things, that effect us as kids but we just cry it out, go to sleep, and wake up to a brand-new day and forget about it like a bad-dream, not nightmare, but just a bad-dream; and forget about it.
This episode went deep and brought out everything "Steven Universe: Future" has been building toward, but on a deep revealing level.
I thought Steven Universe: Future was just a showing of any other kid who didn't meet the standard of the rest of the kids who were prepared to go to college and make a life for themselves after graduating... It's much more deeper than that.
Again, Steven Universe has shown us the other side of other people who look in the mirror... and made us reflect on how it feels, even if we're not that person suffering that's looking in the mirror.
the way you get hyped up and excited when something that could potentially help Steven happens (or when Greg shows up) makes this show so much more important and special than it already is.

This is what I love about this current season, it finally shows all the traumatic events that happened in his life and how it affects him both mentally and physically, now that he's growing up and all his friends and family are leaving him behind, he's gonna get really depressed if he doesn't decide to do smth with his life.

Yes Greg is a great and supportive father.What I didn’t like (at least in the original series) is that Greg always left Steven to do his “gem stuff” that were clearly dangerous. Remember after Jail Break Greg was really worried about Steven? That lead no where and Steven still stayed with the Gems. At least Greg is supportive and loving towards Steven and cares about him.
