    Love how "Counterspell" explodes out of her, and then instantly covers her mouth as if she can't believe she said it.

    Somewhere, a gnome bard feels a magic disturbance and smiles in bittersweet memory of his own such counterspell.

    The level of anger of not getting to use his spell just slowly washing over his face was amazing to see. It looked like slow motion

    I love how Talisen just put his head down like he was expecting the worst, but the he puts his head up like ‘wait what did I miss?’ So funny!!

    Wouldn't the 3rd lvl counterspell auto succeed against a 3rd lvl spell?

      The Caster was casting at 9th level spell she was casting a 3rd level Counterspell, which means she had to roll a 19 DC to beat the Caster. She needed to roll a 14 plus 5 to make the check. She rolled a 20! Fuckin rad! 😝

      @@DrakeForReal2 and the attempt to counter her spell was at what level?

      Technically yeah the counter spell against her counter spell should have succeeded. He didn't need to roll for it. But for the story moment, it was far more satisfying how it went.

      @craxnor ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If it was going to do that he wouldn’t have let her roll. It’s more narratively satisfying this way.

    I don't understand why neither of them used a higher lvl counterspell

    • @Thegameshadow1
      @Thegameshadow1 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Warlocks cannot counter spell at 9th lvl so for any lower spellslot she would have had to roll anyway. So 3 is the best option.
      The oppoent? I am.not sure. Tbf, 3rd lvl counterspell destroys 3rd lvl counterspell, but Matt chose to roll for the narrative.

      @@Thegameshadow1 thx i didnt know for the warlock. Weird that matt decided to roll, the 9th lvl spell should have worked then... that changes a lot

      Laudna at this point has 8 levels in Sorcerer and 3 in Warlock so she has a max of 4th level spells. Don't know if she had used up both of her 4th levels or was just saving them but it would have been the same effect when counterspelling Matt's 9th level anyways. As for why Matt didn't use a higher level, he probably didn't want to ruin the fun moment they just had. He rolled when he didn't need to so he probably didn't want to prolong the battle when they had pretty much beaten him anyways.
