i dont mean to be so off topic but does anyone know a trick to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot my account password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.
Most inspirational Jazz I've listened to my entire life. Love Count Basie as well but the Duke seems to possess real magic. Does anyone know, who his modern equivalent or closest musician would be to the Duke?? Always searching... 😗,
@@samsallon interesting... Stevey is as inspirational in my opinion... however, I've listened to his albums so many times, they lost a little bit of shine, I could try Ray Charles. Its not just the artist but finding really captivating recordings... especially live ones...
Hum... How do we know this is HIS ORIGINAL orchestra playing.... And not a RENDITION from ANOTHER orchestra !??? I can't seem to confirm this compilation.... And the sound seems a bit too clean to me !!! And without being able to see the back of that jacket... We can't find out! ANYONE !????
I agree. Seems too crisp and clear for being an original Duke's orchestra record. Or maybe it's a perfect remastered edition. Nevertheless, it's damn great!!!.
I have same thoughts - I know Duke well, and this crisp stereo recording is a revelation. I love it, and would love to know more. Many of the instrumental “voices” sound authentic - further mystifying and thrilling me
The first track is from "The Great Summit" which is Ellington and some of his (iirc) band members with Louis Armstrong. The only time, I think, that they recorded together. So this is a group of recordings from different sessions. Also, "Drop me Off in Harlem" is from that session, too.
Need some background music for research and writing. Sometimes Telemann doesn't make it y'know. So I sez to myself, self, I sez (for tis my name) what would sound good and refreshing to the audio canals without disrupting my oh so delicate train of thought...train...train...A train...I know!...Nah, Big Mouth brought me here. Thanks Big Mouth, can always count on you. (Note to self: find out who this Big Mouth is)
Thank you Big Mouth :)

Reading my history textbook on black history and culture. Duke Ellington was mentioned and here I am.
And do you know the best thing? Duke's music is for the whole world. It transcends black culture and race. He called it American music.

No Saul, there is no one today who comes anywhere close to Duke Ellington
They’d be in different types of music - rap, electronic etc. Try Masago & FKJ
