We had good ol' Muffin for 17.5 years - our groomer called him the posable dog. We lost him last year to a stroke. I sure miss him. He never had a bad day and never met anyone he didn't like.
That's a Healthy Dog to live that long. Obviously, you took care of him well.
I’m so sorry for your loss but how wonderful to have given him such a long life!! We lost our 2 dogs about 4 years ago, 2 months apart…so I literally just got a puppy last night😁 it’s been 15 years since I’ve had a puppy and I have zero regrets…you should do the same😜
My deepest condolences on the loss of Muffin. Animal companions bring us some of our best days...and one of our worst.
What a good old age, which I know from experience does nothing for the pain of loss. 😢😢😢
Missing part is mutual for all pet owners... Lost my little angel at 10.5 .... She was fine and fit and on a random vet visit the doc told us her kidneys are failing and there's barely any treatment... We lost her 1 month later
I always love calling Pomeranians pom-pom dogs, because if you squint they look like if a cheerleader’s pom-poms came to life and started demanding food and attention. So cute!
My uncle had one that was old and lazy, and when i met him i said, "thats not a dog, thats a rug",
When i was a kid i thought pomeranians were named after pom-poms
I once went swimming without my glasses and saw a family friend’s Pomeranian, and he did look like a walking pom-pom. 🤣

We had a black one named Bear. He was the most awesome dog ever. Loved everyone, had aaaalllllll the food allergies, had seizures, was super easy to train, had no fear, was the best truck dog, made an excellent dash ornament, and was just the best cuddle companion. 8yrs was not enough time with him. He rests in a box on my bookshelf with his favorite things.

@@Lorendrawn Yes! We had him cremated and his ashes were put into an urn that the vet provided. They partner with a local small business and that business makes all kinds of urns and wooden crosses and caskets and such. Most of the work they do is pro bono for parents who are having to burry their children.
Ha! We have a black pup named Bear who has seizures too! Not a pom though, he's a mutt 🙂
Oh im so sorry. My parents kept my dogs ashes too. Dogs should never leave us. I didnt know about black pomeranians. Sounds he should be beautiful

Just saw my sister's Pomeranian again after about 2 years, she didn't recognize me at first but after getting my scent her tail started wagging and she remembered me, made my day :) I love these little fluffballs.
I love watching her just lean into the hair dryer's blast. so cute. and it is nice seeing them enjoy the experience a bit.

I'd never consider owning one of this breed, though they are very cute in their own way, but thank you for addressing the considerable health issues associated with Poms (not unlike French bulldogs) which would no doubt give pause to those who might desire owning one.

My family had a pom which they named Kujo ( lol) when I was a teenager and though I was always busy and out and about, I was his human. He bossed me around so much!! Loved that little general!
I really like that you tell about the dogs possible health problems and their personality. I was talking to a young lady recently, was thinking about getting a dog. She did not have any pets growing up and knows nothing about different breeds of dogs. I recommended that she watch your channel to find out about the issues with any breed that she is considering adopting. If people would find out about the breed that they are adopting, it may result in less dogs in shelters. I really like this channel even though I don't have a dog and have no plans to get a dog in the future.
Our toy poodle recently passed because of collapsed trachaea and an enlarged heart. She was the ideal dog, loved everyone and loved nothing more than to sit and cuddle with my parents, especially my dad, who was her favorite person. She was 14 years old. We'll always remember that she passed on a beautiful sunny day. ❤

I had a Pomeranian hearing assistance/psychological support dog. She was perfect at her duties. She was originally meant for hearing support. She pretty much taught herself to detect my panic attacks before they hit. I loved her so much. I lost her at the end of August last year to pancreatitis brought on by her diabetes.
My current one is a Pom mix. She’s not as good as my Pom was at her tasks, but we are getting there.

Hearing about those possible health issues makes me nervous. I pray my pom lives a long healthy life

I have learned so much from you about breeds. You've introduced me to at least 5 or 6 breeds I've never even heard of before, because all I knew were the breeds in the yearly kennel club TV show. And they don't address medical issues or backyard breeders. You're passionate and professional enough to tell people not only about their positive breed characteriwfics, but also their drawbacks and eventual needs, so they can make informed decisions with eyes fully opened. ;)

My mom had a yappy yorkie. He got collapsing trachea pretty soon after we got him as a puppy. Whenever he’d breathe heavily, he sounded like a grunting pig.

One of my favorite things about you is how you discuss the breeds and what to look/look out for. I believe that is going to make people make better choices and keep animals from being surrendered or dumped.

I find it wild, how big a difference there is in poms, and small dogs in general. I live in Denmark, and I've seen a lot of poms, but I have yet to see a single one with the problems, that you are talking about in the video. It's same with tooth loss in small dogs, it seem to be the norm, in america, that small dog loose their teeth at young age, while here it's very much not a norm.

Poms are excellent companion animals. We've had several in the family over the years. My favorite was named Buddy. He was remarkably smart and sweet ❤

My aunt and uncle had a pomeranian, Rusty , he was very sweet , loved to bark lol , he had zero health issues . It was 30+years ago . Then a Keishhound, chow chow and Samoyan . The Samoyan was my favorite.

Our family Pom just turned 16 in August. Hes completely blind now with collapsed trachea and bad knees but still the most lovable guy ever!

I have a pomchi…Pomeranian/chihuahua mix and he has is moments where is talkative. He can be sassy at times.
You can really tell how much you love Poms from the way you talk about them and it's infectious!

I want to say just how much I appreciate you and what you do. How kind you are with the animals you groom. I was watching another gal and even thou I agree with her statement of how abused the dog was she was grooming, she was not kind nor gentle to that poor dog. She made the statement that the owner should be reported but she said she wouldnt due to her fear of losing other clients. If I had a dog I would not take it to her!
Fran Drescher's dog Chester was the first pom I've ever seen. Had a soft spot for those little floofs since.

I've dealt with long haired pets and while adorable, the upkeep is no joke. I got a short-haired cat because of it. Lol.
My Belledandy has a collapsing trachea and had the patella problems. Causes such scary moments. But she is fifteen years old and still trucking along. Her brother Saxon is just the sweetest and quietest Pomeranian ever. Their "little" sister is a silver Labrador and is positive she is a Pom, since she has been in the pack since she was 5 weeks old, (now she is three), I love my pack of craziness. There is just something about a Pom's face that is priceless.
So adorable! My aunt used to have a Pomeranian. She was so territorial, she hated my guts 😆
My 18 yr longhaired chihuahua had alopecia, luxating patellas, blindness, dementia, and arthritis.
Small dogs are always so notorious for a plethora of issues. Definitely cant stress enough for people to really research their breeders to make sure they get a well rounded dog :)

My Presa had flank alopecia. After finding no parasitic cause, my vet recommended melatonin. After about 6/7 weeks you could barely tell he had it. For a very short haired breed, this was an accomplishment.
If you go this route, be sure NOT to get the chewable tabs for they contain the poisonous xylitol!

V., I got as far as reading the title of this video and burst into laughter! I immediately thought of the movie "Gremlins" and the wordplay struck home! The quick shot of your Pomeranian was enough to give me pause that it might have come from that movie. And to say that the little doggie was loving that blow drier is putting it mildly.

We had a Pom girl her name was TayTay. She was loving , funny, and confident. I want another but they are so expensive. She was running loose in the woods for 2 years until she was caught and given to me. The vet said she was 8 and hadn"t been fixed and we had to have all her teeth pulled. She was under weight and very little hair. She turned into the most beautiful thick furred black and tan tri colored Pom. No one was looking for her I checked through animal control nationwide. Later when Tay Tay died I used her chip which had no info on it , but the company told me a first name and disconnected tel # of who purchased the chip. I did some skip tracing and located the back yard breeder that I think dumped her. I wanted to tell them that we had taken care of her and she was happy til she died. But when I saw the person was a back yard breeder I didn't bother. Before she was given to me I had wanted another dog and my husband said no. I told him that " God will bring us one" and he did. My husband loved her and still cries over her.

Her brother looks almost exactly like my wife's old Pom. Sounds a lot like him, too. Sometimes I almost miss that little gremlin.
I adore Poms! My white pom pom is the biggest lovebug, but I often joke that he cost me $65 to adopt at the county shelter, and $6,500 since then. We're dealing with a heart murmur, heart disease, liver and pancreas issues, and hypothyroidism. But he remains my happy boy, and I will gladly pay whatever I can to help him stay that way.

My family must have hit the jackpot with our poms when I was growing up. They were healthy, not very yappy, and had zero problems with fur loss. They both lived to the ripe old age of at least 15. I was already out of the house (and in one case out of the country) when they passed, so I'm not sure exactly how old they were, but they both made it to a ripe old age. They were adorable.
