Actualy Germany didn't want to occupy Albania but just to use it as a bridge to the east. Albanians though fought against the nazis ( Partizan Albanians) and nazis burned villages and killed civilians for that. Albanians kept in their homes not only jews but even the Italian soldiers that came as invaders and didn't hand them over to the Germans risking their lives.My grandfather kept one Italian soldier and said to me they were only soldiers ordered to do their duty and had families waiting.

In that show, there are only a few Albanian good guys, the rest of villans are Albanians (mafia and gangsters). My father was born in Feb 1943 in Albania, and at that time my grans were hiding a Jewish family somewhere from ex Yugoslavia. The lady of this jewish family, apart from her own children, took care of my father too. My family used to make fun of this later on calling my father “The Jew” of the home! This family made it safe after the war, and I’m pretty sure that they were treated as part of our family, and knowing my grandma she would had share the last piece of bread with them with no strings attached. Unfortunately, due to the 45 years of communist isolation, we lost track of them! I was trying in vain to get any facts or details about this family, but we didn’t have photo or any fact about them! Indeed, Albania became nevertheless a safe heaven for those Jews who entered the country and this makes me feel proud about my family and country history. Besa is something very deep and is not related to religion at all. Who says I hate Albanians, here in Montreal Canada the Albanian and Greek community are the best of friends, even in Greece, in the past ten years for the most part Albanians and Greeks get along, heck Albanians are living in my home in Greece right now and they're a nice hard working family. Actualy Germany didn't want to occupy Albania but just to use it as a bridge to the east. Albanians though fought against the nazis ( Partizan Albanians) and nazis burned villages and killed civilians for that. Albanians kept in their homes not only jews but even the Italian soldiers that came as invaders and didn't hand them over to the Germans risking their lives.My grandfather kept one Italian soldier and said to me they were only soldiers ordered to do their duty and had families waiting.

There is a serbian tv show called Besa, which hijects the authentic Besa (the Albanian Code of Honor) from this realm of Honor and Humanity and puts it into the the realm of mafia and criminals, giving it negative connotations and promoting it as a property of mafia and criminals. In that show, there are only a few Albanian good guys, the rest of villans are Albanians (mafia and gangsters). While on one hand I am not one of those people who believe that crime-ganster-mafia shows like this one should be subject to some checks and balances and decency standards before they are given the approval to be broadcast (in order to prevent them spreadig negative stereotypes and prejudices against any culture , group or individual), I believe that those positive aspects of Albanian cultures (like authentic Besa, which is based on Justice and Honor, NOT blood feud/ vendetta per se) should be made more visible and take much more media and public space than those naive and tasteless anti-albanian propaganda that reduces Besa and any other Albanian cultural aspect to mafia and crime, spread in shows and movies like the recent serbian tv show called Besa, the "Taken" movie trilogy, or any other tv show or movie where most Albanians are bad guys. My father was born in Feb 1943 in Albania, and at that time my grans were hiding a Jewish family somewhere from ex Yugoslavia. The lady of this jewish family, apart from her own children, took care of my father too. My family used to make fun of this later on calling my father “The Jew” of the home! This family made it safe after the war, and I’m pretty sure that they were treated as part of our family, and knowing my grandma she would had share the last piece of bread with them with no strings attached. Unfortunately, due to the 45 years of communist isolation, we lost track of them! I was trying in vain to get any facts or details about this family, but we didn’t have photo or any fact about them! Indeed, Albania became nevertheless a safe heaven for those Jews who entered the country and this makes me feel proud about my family and country history. PS, I’m a Christian Orthodox family, but when it comes to saving other humans, religion doesn’t matter

Although there is a report from the Carnegie War Crimes Commission but it is interesting that the genocide committed against Albanians by European countries has not been condemned even is not mentioned. Besa is something very deep and is not related to religion at all. The commander of an Army in the trojan wars(were wars between Pellazg Tribes and Princes nothing to do with "Greece" or "Greeks"), was to fight a trojan warrior who was a servant in his house for many years, they both droped their weapons and hugged eachother and refused to fight. He was also offered free house and government jobs, after he finished army. He was a diver in france and came back and refused all and any help from NON ALBAIANS. he was killed in 1999 war in kosova

It was codified in the Kanun (by Lek Dukagjini, who was Catholic), and it has been used by Muslim Albanians in Kosovo or elsewhere, but it has nothing to do with these two religions! Who says I hate Albanians, here in Montreal Canada the Albanian and Greek community are the best of friends, even in Greece, in the past ten years for the most part Albanians and Greeks get along, heck Albanians are living in my home in Greece right now and they're a nice hard working family.
