      If you want the Ultimate Heat Retaining Toughest Flask Money can buy where the water will still be around body Temp 5 Days/120 HOURS Later and will still hot enough to burn you 2 or 3 Days then later the Buy The Stanley Master Series 1.3L I have tested all the Top models from the last 40 years side by side and Nothing can compete with the Stanley Master series and their food Flask version is also the best, WARNING I pre heated my Master Series 1.3L and the water was too hot to put your Hands in 3 Days/72 hours Later and they have twice the Laters and thicker walls and are tough enough to Drive a 4x4 over Any ways watch this, Thumbs Up. Oh and if you test it Fill your other flask at the same time and open them both 3 days later, Well done.th-cam.com/video/GyC74TcF07s/w-d-xo.html

    Hey Simon, another stellar experiment and we have all learned something - so that's nice. We all appreciate the effort you went to since all of those 24 data logs. Here's one that was debunked a while ago. Whenever we had bottles of soft drink, Grandma used to squeeze the bottle so all the space was gone then put the lids on - she said it stayed fizzy for longer. I proved that all it did was allow more room for expansion and it went flat quicker, as the pressure of the non-squeezed bottle seems to prohibit the CO2 bubbles from popping!! Thanks mate, great vid, cheers.

      Wasn't there an aftermarket soft drink lid that you pumped up to pressurise the bottle in the hope of keeping it fizzy?

    Love the video mate, well done👏👏👏
    I would argue that the pre-heat/chill probably come from the days of the glass thermos as they don’t hold temperature very well like you demonstrated. It may have become a “passed down tradition” despite the newer stainless thermos being better because “that’s what we have always done”

    That was a very enlightening video. I've always preheated and prechillled my vacuum flasks as it seemed to be logical. However, now that your tests have proved that its pointless I won't be wasting my time, and especially my water, when out camping.
    I use stainless steel flasks as years ago I broke a couple of glass flasks very easily.

      The results surprised me too! I've even been guilty of preheating my thermos in the middle of the Simpson Desert!
      If glass was a lot more efficient, I reckon we could find a way to transport them, I carry eggs, so a glass thermos can't be that hard, thankfully I won't from here on in.

    My thermos coffee/tea mug is still scalding hot at lunch so I stopped preheating shortly after purchase. But now you’ve proved that there is no difference anyway, thanks.

    Hah great video! Have a look at the new Klean Kanteen TKPro. The design seems like it would prevent all that heat loss from the top. All steel including the lid and cup/cap

    What about the quality of the seal? Since the glass flask lost its heat at the top, and is older than the other thermos, could the inferior heat retention be due to a weakened seal between the vacuum gapped layers?

    • @LockyourHubs4WDing
      @LockyourHubs4WDing  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a possibility due to age, not sure how I would test that non destructively though.

    The stainless flask wins over glass because its coated with copper on the inside, copper is a great heat reflector, I'm very surprised by the preheating results.

      Stainless steel is a tougher metal-- less likely to puncture and is less reactive to various substances.

    I have a question. This may be relevant to heat as well but i thought about it with the cold. Did you pre chill the thermos with the lid on? If you did, does that not make it more difficult for the bottle to get cold, as the inside is insulated from the cold. Wonder what the result would be lid off so it could get colder.

    • @LockyourHubs4WDing
      @LockyourHubs4WDing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Both the lid and thermos were chilled together, but without the lid screwed on.

      @@LockyourHubs4WDing oh well damn. I never pre chilled or heated. Haven't really used insulated bottles much at all.I keep well hydrated, but the other day, in 106 degree weather, I started feeling woozy and weak. I thought I was dehydrated but when I got home and peed, my urine was clear. Today I froze two bottles of water and took them with me, pouring some of the water over a hat I wear that's supposed to be cooler when wet. It definitely chilled my brain and kept me from overheating, but obviously taking two frozen water bottles everywhere isn't practical, so these seemed like a better alternative.
      Thanks for the video, was entertaining and informative. Sorry my suggestion was dumb.
