    Please show us the antenna rather than just waving your hands. Please show us adjusting the plunger. Please show us how to set up the antenna for 80m with the third section. Please show us how to set up the antenna for operation on six meters.

    I just purchased one of these, and I'm impressed with it! Using it with an LDG Z-100PLUS tuner... SWR is 1.3:1 from 20m thru 10m! I haven't used the bigger coil yet, but I'm going to, soon!

    If CW is an option, you can send a short CQ on a out of the way frequency, and look at the spots on a cluster. Quick and dirty, but very effective. To test different antennas, just change frequency a little.

    When you have a site that allows, try to elevate the antennas with two tuned radials 180 degrees opposing. It may just surprise you. My Buddipole was like having two different antennas at my disposal with the elevated version coming out way on top. Great vid 73 de M0AZE Mike

    The GRA 7350TC 3/8 or the T CB?
    The GRA was 1:1.5 vs BSP was 1:1.2 so that would account for the difference in output numbers.

    Mag mounts do not make direct electrical connection. They are capacitively coupled to the roof.

    • @HamRadioCrashCourse
      @HamRadioCrashCourse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is the shield of the coax suppose to make good electrical connection to the mag-mount base?

    I just got this antenna and now steel stake....awesome SWR with 3 - 17 ft radials. I even power bought and got this Celeron board laptop. Not bad, and I ended up a 3.0 USB 4 port USB hub and ehternet adapter. Super fast that way. Great setup for POTA now.... KC0QNA

      Can tune yours in the 40 mts?

      @@joseneves2822 Hi Jose. I'm getting around 1:1.5 at about the 14 mark on the coil. Do you use a counterpoise? I'm using 8 wires, each about 5m long in a "star pattern" around the antenna.

    • @joseneves2822

      @@floriangotz5358 Hi Florian, i'm using also 8 wires but each about 3,3
      as I could not reduce the value of 3.8, I chose to replace the radials with a radial with 10 mts long but i couldn't even lower the value of swr
      today i returned the antenna to the supplier
      all the best ... many tanks / 73

    I am using just one radial per band with great results on portable operations, but I am keeping the radial elevated with a fiberglass electric fence stakes. It appears to act more like a L configuration dipole, but deploys fast for POTA. I use the tripod accessory on the picnic table so the radial is near perfect horizontal. QRP or QRO I do not notice any degraded performance other than the radial needs to be a full 1/4~. For POTA u tend to be more 20M or 17M so the radial lengths aren't so objectionable. Has anyone else tried this?

    Could you give a breakdown of the power pole connections you are making to charge the $60 laptop? Making a cable to use with my jackery using the barrel connectors but the power pole seems really nice. Saw your distribution block and was curious as I’m new to power pole connectors

    Do you have any videos about reasons why to consider starting? Because I’ve had a scanner since I was about 7 and I have two grandparents that have ham licenses but I don’t I have a handicap and just don’t know who around me would consider it or if I know anyone that would be in the age group and still do it later on? Any suggestions? I’m pretty interested and have been watching on and off for at least a few years but all of these reasons have been making me kinda curious

      There’s probably more people around you than you think. Finally pulled the trigger and got my tech and then general last year. After years of thinking about it like yourself. Found out there’s a big group of great people nearby that were super helpful and nice. They got me on the air properly on field day. It’s super addictive getting contacts.

      @@HamRadioCrashCourse yes from a
      Data standpoint on a chart in a book BUT will it make a contact on ssb is my yardstick. Makes it more applicable to actual use in the field, working a mode that is difficult, but I understand the reasoning for the comparative testing.

    • @HamRadioCrashCourse
      @HamRadioCrashCourse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The general rule is of a station can hear you -10 or higher on low power WSPR, SSB is possible ON QRP and likely on 100w. So I’d venture a guess we can tell pretty easily from the numbers when comparing antennas.

    $130 is ridiculous for a price. Production cost for that is probably less than $30. But yet Americans keep enabling these companies to get away with ridiculous profit margins. If everyone wouldn’t just buy it- they would have to drop their prices to something more reasonable

    • @HamRadioCrashCourse

      Stop blaming Americans. As if we’re the only people that can buy these antennas.

      Why do so many people ignore the costs of R&D, engineering, machinery, facilities, etc., plus profit vs consumer convenience?
