I think that it is a crime how River isn't recognised for his musical talents in the same way that he is for his acting. Music was his real passion and his music shows that. It just saddens me to think of how much more he could of achieved in both music and acting if he hadn't passed away at such a young age.
well his music is mediocre and his singing voice is weak. it’s why Island Records passed on his band. His acting is much stronger. Just because you are passionate about something doesn’t mean you are exceptional at it.
you have a point about his music. although his dying so young is tragic, it could've been avoided if the first responders hadn't told his brother to stop the cpr he was doing :(
I have a tattoo for him on my arm. It says "River, oh River..." With the angelic symbol for 'grace'. I also have a giant poster of him next to my bed with a poem printed on it. It's worn out now and needs to be replaced but he is my safe place. The most beautiful boy to ever walk this earth. And I'm not talking about his breathtaking face. You are immortal River. Rest in peace, we'll be here running for the rescue of those who need us. For you. In your name. I swear you're not forgotten.
A lot of incredibly talented actors/musicians have died in my lifetime. Michael Jackson, Prince, Heath Ledger, Paul Walker, Whitney Houston, Robin Williams to name a few. I love all of them, but if I could bring back only one, it would be River. There was something pure and innocent about him. It's difficult to explain. Yes, he was undeniably handsome, but he was more than that. You can see it in videos and photos of him as a child. He was happy, carefree, loving, playful, and immensely talented for his age. Just angelic all around. His voice is amazing! Everything he did seemed effortless! Singing, crying on cue, smiling and laughing. Because River lived so much in a short time. He's been happy. He absolutely adored his family. He had so much love to give. And he knew pain and trauma. Things happened to him when he was young. He has said so himself. As he became a man, it was increasingly harder to cope with what he'd been through. He said he would block things out. That's why he ended up on drugs. Both of his parents were addicts. He never learned how to cope. Look how Joaquin played Johnny Cash! He was messed up most of his life after losing River. Alcohol. He was also an addict, as was Johnny Cash. I'm so glad Joaquin has a son now! He'll never get over seeing his brother die. I hope his son eases the pain, and gives him a deep sense of purpose. River, I hope you're at peace! You are loved by so many, and you'll be missed forever!
Lovely cover. We will never know now if River Phoenix might have had a real musical career as well, because he departed from his earthly life too soon. But it takes time. "Until Now" and "Standing on a Rock" were written and originally recorded by Rodney Crowell. It bugs me that so many people can walk around oblivious to what an incredibly fine songwriter and beautiful vocalist he was and still is. River could not have chosen a better person to show him about what it's like to struggle to succeed in Nashville. Even with Johnny Cash for his father-in-law (was for many years), and Johnny Cash being *still* the most beloved artist in Nashville almost 20 years after he died, Rodney Crowell has never gotten the recognition and accolade he deserves, and yet his work is constantly being played and covered by countless artists. Just listen to "Till I Gain Control Again" and look right here on TH-cam to see how many big name artists have covered that song, as just one example of his talent. I really did like Elvis, but as far as I know, he didn't write a single one of the hit songs he is famous for recording. I think all those swooning fan girls propped him up a lot.
Until Now is by far the most beatiful song i've heard, got this thing of being true to you, somebody have another recording of it? The studio version? :(
river phoenix had a very beautiful voice, he was so talented he could have done so many things, it hurts that he died so young, very talented and handsome #Ripinpeaceriverphoenix🙏🙏❤❤
Thank you so much for this video! I can't find his songs from The Thing Called Love on Spotify so now I can just listen to this video whenever I want to hear these songs :) Why are his eyes covered?
For anyone who's interested in finding out more about how he died (and the lies that have been told over the years), I found this in-depth article last night. It's incredibly interesting, and very sad: medium.com/@jocwriters/the-curious-death-of-river-phoenix-88e47a0fa24b Rest in peace, River. xxx
Kristijan Šimić the film it was performed for in 1993 may still own the rights for the full song, but it's not easy to get hold of songs like it is today. We don't know if River recorded a full version
Ye, I`ve been searching lot but couldn`t find, I also checked soundtracks from " The thing called love" and there is the song called " Love is" performed by River Phoenix which I guess is that one.
I don’t think it. I know it. He was sober that night as he had been for months. He didn’t even have a drink that night. When one of your best friend hands you a drink that has 11 times the lethal amount of heroin and cocaine in what you think is a shot. There’s only one way to look at it. He was never coming back from that. He is forever missed by his friends and family 🌻

Sheldon Hart because his music wasn't that great. His acting was incredible.

@@Elena-er7zp he was singing naturally without any help or editing. I think he was very talented

this is so great. where were you able to find these? It’s ridiculous that the official soundtrack to the movie does not include the actors singing.

Me encanta, es una lástima que no se puedan escuchar todas sus canciones de la peli de estudio 😔 muchas gracias por el vídeo!
😭
Where did u find this I only ever heard it on the film want to download it
You can hear the dialogue in the mix, ha, it's taken straight from the film's audio. What the film is, I don't know - which film of his is it?
This is from 'The Thing Called Love'. :)
Oh I've seen that film, but I couldn't recall the song.
Thanks.
Song's name at 4:14?
lisa what love is
❤❤❤💕🤗
You must have meant July 1992. The Thing Called Love was filmed in late 1992, not in 1993 when it was released.
Did u make the artwork?
💗😎💋
It's 'Lone Star State of Mine'.
Darling Phenylethylamine its just how riv sings it, it is mind
No, it seems to be officially known as 'Lone Star State of Mine', even in the credits.
Darling Phenylethylamine yup ure right its lone star state of mine, mind would also sound right but we can't change what's what
Ahskanxnshdisd his voice is beautiful
dont you think he was murdered?
Yes, he was murdered. Lethal drink of COCKTAIL of drugs very powerful enough to kill 7 people
I don’t think it. I know it. He was sober that night as he had been for months. He didn’t even have a drink that night. @@antoinettemarie9668 How do you know he was sober?
Dachshund Lover Well, anyone who was with him, knows he wasn’t drinking that night. However, for further proof; read the autopsy.
