Aluminum side panniers are easy to open and close but break if you fall over, while soft bags like the LR motobags absorb shock but take a while to open and close. As you know, it's always a dilemma..
I sprayed my Sw Motech Tankbag with Fabsil waterproofing and it worked. I’ve just got my new GSA1300 and will do the same with Tankbag. Dropped my old 1250 a couple of times with no damage to the panniers, the plastic corner caps saved it. I have the new boxes an they are way sturdier an better built than the old ones

Only seeing the replies now. I sprayed my Tankbag 3- 4 times to be sure to be sure 😂 I still carried the cover just in case we got absolutely all day torrential but in Europe last year we got a few half days and I had no leakage problems. 👍
I've dropped my bike with hard luggage and the only mark on it, is the plastic end cap, box has no dents marks or other damage so I disagree that if you drop the bike the case is destroyed as that is not the case. I rather have the metal ones than the plastic one and my boxs have never leaked in the rain. Its choice if you want hard or soft luggage as hard ones do give more security to your items each to other own, I'm happy with the hard luggage and suits my needs.
Enjoyed that. I share the same sentiment as you about those cases. Soft luggage it is for me and wouldn’t it be nice if in time a third party manufacturer makes a smaller tank bag. Great vid and Merry Xmas. 👌🏍️
Good video, but check out the SW-Motech cases... I don't work for them but have purchased these for my current 1250 GSA, and wil mount them to my 1300 GSA as soon as it is delivered. These are not so wide...
Mid 40s mpg with those panniers on highway, I would not worry about damage to panniers, as most GS riders will struggle with this bike fully loaded in gravel car park, never mind off road.
@@jimmyrottencauli funny enough I think I will I didn’t have my glasses on which is why I couldn’t put it on but I think over my waterproof SW moteck magnetic case has advantages one of them being the SW moteck gets stuck on and you can’t get it off, so not so clever after allso the BMW basic clunk click system works for me.
