***** What with the Bushes, Clinton, and Obama being those beacons of authenticity that they are. Do you really believe the nonsense that you spoke? One would have to wonder if you have been living in a cave for the last 30 years. Repealed regulations, Lower taxes, Budget cut by 50%, Federal register cut by 50%. Are you sure this video isn't a computer-generated fantasy film? Sounds like a dream. The American Dream.
What a great man. I have chosen to listen to all President Reagans speeches, at least one each day and hope that I will not have to run out of speeches to listen to in this life time. To the spirit of Reagan God Bless you
What is the most remarkable about his tenure, is that most of what he accomplished was in cooperation with the opposing Democratic Party which held most of the political power at the time. He not only "Reached across the isle, but he made them glad that they were all a part of it! THAT was his greatest Legacy, because we ALL became stronger and learned to work together for a time. We sure need someone like him now!
President Reagan is a good model for all of new or newer Presidents. His principles of making our country strong has inspired many people. He focused on freedoms, economy booming strategies, strong defenses, good habit of self reliance..etc. That is the main reason made our country at the time.
After his term ended though he got away and recovered from the abuse. I liked him at the national conventions. He lived a long great life of 93 and I see he means the truth. Towards the people and towards himself.
what an inspiring speech. truly a leader that gives encouragement, solutions to domestic economic problems, and hope to his fellow citizens. I don't hear this kind of speech to presidents nowadays...probably the presidents of today has nothing good to report :-)
Tip O'Neill wrote in his biography , that during this speech he was whispering to George Bush Senior "C'mon George , you don't believe this , Do you?" Bush replied "Shhh Be quiet !"
this is exactly what we need to do now, it worked then, and it can work now. the problems then are the problem we have now and the solution is still the same
Everythings President Reagan talked about making great sense. This is why President Reagan and President Bush 41 and President Bush 43 are great President for our country's benefits and future as well as our country's own foundations of the Capitalism system of the freedoms and entrepreneurship and constitutions. Because they would make America's entrepreneurship and freedoms must keep on going and absolutely be protected. American people can't live without it to fill their America's dreams and breath the fresh air of the freedoms daily.
He created over 21 million jobs, reduce the interest rate from 21% to under 7%, created untold opportunity for millions of folks around the world. Today we have over 17 trillion in Debt while running trillions in budget deficits. Yet here you are whining about less them 50 billion. Get a grip.
@allbaugh04 Not trying to burst your bubble, but the teleprompters are on either side of him; and when he turns his head from side to side, that tells you he is reading off of them.
May the Lord bless the United States of America with another President Ronald Reagan! The man who truly loved and believed in the United States of America. May his soul rest in peace
Ok, here we are over 20 years later and the thoughts that Ronald Reagan shared seem to be way beyond what our present leaders can comprehend, defying any thought of evolution's possiblilties, an amazing decline in common sense. I hope we can begin to understand what some of these suggestions really mean to the future of the U.S.A. , not to mention freedom as a whole. May God be allowed by us to Bless America.
Our economy only grew under Reagan mainly through producing multiple runs of military equipment for here and abroad. He laid the foundation for tyrants and for perpetual and preemptive war. Now he was a great world leader and the rhetoric was wonderful but he surrounded himself with some really really evil people and was a little naive about his handlers and appointees.
Perpetual warfare began from the invention of business regulation and the establishing of The Federal Reserve. It took less than 30 years after the birth of regulation and establishing The Fed for the country to hit it's FIRST ever economic crisis "The Great Depression". We have been at non-stop never-ending perpetual warfare since The Great Depression. The secret is that our economy had been so devastated (nearly all production run overseas) that if we stopped the war-machine we would starve for the lack of immediate gains from weapons sales, military contracts, plunder, etc... The sinister tragedy is that never-ending war means never-ending borrowing and running this nation permanently into the ground. The Federal Reserve prints Monopoly Money, IOUs, trading cards that devalue with each new card printed (less rare = less value). Regulations have birthed mega-corporate monopolies that have commandeered our government into Corporate Fascism, created the world's first Billionaires, destroyed our cities (no more factories = no jobs), and so many more devastating consequences it's unbelievable to comprehend the scope of destruction. All the evils the Democrats complain about were birthed by the very entity and mechanism they believe will save us. Money that is not backed by a scarce and valuable resource is worthless.
@OJBuyer I couldn't agree more. I blame part of this on the Internet ironically. Too many voters voted for NOBAMA who were not around when Jimmy "I NEVER MET A DICTATOR I DIDN'T LIKE" Carter ruined us. Now, thanks to the Internet, we can constatntly remind people what NOBAMA is doing! In the meantim, NOBAMA has 946 DAYS TO GO!
I am a Democrat who is proud to say that Ronald Reagan is the greatest President of my generation.

+Jimmy Botelho It is humor

Tip O'Neill wrote in his biography , that during this speech he was whispering to George Bush Senior "C'mon George , you don't believe this , Do you?" Bush replied "Shhh Be quiet !"
The best president ever!!
@ 14:00..."I will not ask you to try to balance the budget on the backs of the American taxpayers." You are still "The Man" Ron!
this is exactly what we need to do now, it worked then, and it can work now. the problems then are the problem we have now and the solution is still the same

of all, this is MY President! Mr. Obama, you would do well to learn from this man's leadership!!!
you notice we face the same exact problem today pretty ironic.
@allbaugh04 Not trying to burst your bubble, but the teleprompters are on either side of him; and when he turns his head from side to side, that tells you he is reading off of them.
@tatlas The world may have had the constant threat of nuclear war, but at least the U.S. had great leadership back then!
@DPEGSB Where ? Can you say the minute and second ?
May the Lord bless the United States of America with another President Ronald Reagan! The man who truly loved and believed in the United States of America. May his soul rest in peace
Look how young George HW Bush was!

I live in Reagan`a country
@tepeke88 Mr. President refers to the President of the Senate (the Vice President). It is not a mistake.
Left wing right wing, same bird....
not to be a spoiler of cheese or anything, but at 00:47 aren't those two things teleprompters are?
God Bless President Reagan
@allbaugh04 The teleprompter is also there to the President's right.

Great president!
This was after Reagan's first year in office. You could have blamed Bush 4 years ago but not not now after 4 years of Obama.
mr Reagan his like calm down
We need Reagan back in the White House even if he's a ghost! Hopefully the next prez will be just as conservative as Reagan was. Go Gipper!
This is the 1981 address, I believe.
+leandar Here is the transcript we have:
www.reagan.utexas.edu/archives/speeches/1982/12682c.htm
Yes, but in this address the president mentions it's his first address. How could it be 1982 if he made a State of the Union in 1981?
leandar Correct.
Oh ok. Ty
+leandar I think Jimmy Carter made the one in 1981.
13:50 "Redoo production"
Wait a minute...did he say "mr speaker mr president"?? 0:50 Ronny YOU are the president!!!!! Jajaja
@BAhern63 And the current occupant has 105 WEEKS OR 735 DAYS TO GO!
This state of the union address should be read verbatim by the new President after Obama's single term.
I suggest you watch this Obama...look, he didn't even need a teleprompter.
I didn't know that was possible!
@OJBuyer I couldn't agree more. I blame part of this on the Internet ironically.
