    I have been tutoring with Dianne Craft’s learning system for 9 years and have seen it work time and time again. You are on the best track for your son!

      This is encouraging. Have you used it with kids who continue with letter reversals and poor spelling above grade 2/3? And kids with vision problems? If so, which parts did you use? Thank you! Hearing your report gives me some confidence in the program.

    Thank you for this! I came across this curriculum while researching how to teach the right brain child and I really appreciate you taking the time to explain how it works. Listening to you talk about your son's struggles gave me some "aha" moments on how my daughter is struggling - in particular when you talked about his auditory processing and that he does better reading without verbal cues. That insight alone could be a game changer for her!! So thank you for your time and efforts!! ~ Jamie

    I feel you on the multiple learning struggles and the feeling of overwhelm in juggling “regular teaching” with the special learning programs. You had me in tears with your son saying “this is too hard”. We have had many of the same convos….and thoughts…. and emotions. We went through her Writing 8 Exercises a few years ago. It was worth every penny and we saw great improvements… but those seasons of intense therapies were very HARD on both of us. I have been drooling over her math resources for years, but never bit the bullet with cost. So many cutting edge ideas and tools really set her stuff apart. I will pray you both can have peace and perseverance and energy through these very tough times.

    I'm just clicking on this video so I'm not sure what you're going to say about it - but I JUST heard about this program, specifically the flash cards & it's so cool to see a video about it from someone I love to watch videos by! My son is untested but I have a hunch he's mildly dyslexic -- specifically dyseidetic when it comes to sight words and memory.

  • @kaitlync15
    @kaitlync15 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow! Thank you for sharing about this! My son is 7 & already 2 years behind, we can’t get beyond 2 letter blends - he can blend CVC words but can’t remember them. He will sound out cat, see cat in the next sentence and it’s like it’s brand new! Reversal of b&d, writes all numbers 2-9 backwards 90% of the time, will master sight words one week and completely forget them the next. We were in Brain Balance the last two years - it sounds very similar to this! I am hoping this will work, we went from TGTB to All About Reading & it’s still not clicking :(

      Then this might be really helpful. We experienced very similar things.

    I can't imagine how difficult this must be when he has auditory processing disorder-- a lot of those dyslexia programs rely on auditory learning. The word stories with the colors is a very interesting concept! Especially when it comes to spelling! I hope it works!💕💕

    • @LifeintheMundane
      @LifeintheMundane  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, when I found out about his APD I was crushed…not because of the diagnosis but bc I had moved everything to auditory for him bc of the dyslexia and I realized I had moved from one difficult learning method to another for him. I am just happy I can now teach the way he learns.

    Thank you Katie, you don’t know how much hope you have pour in to our struggles with reading. I waited with so much anticipation for this video and of course you delivered all the information so well. I do have a question, what are all the items you ordered? I know you mentioned that you purchased it used but still want to see what would be the must haves of the program. Thank you again so much for sharing and letting me know I’m not alone.

    • @LifeintheMundane
      @LifeintheMundane  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are so welcome! The absolute must haves are the brain integration manual, the right brain phonics book, and unless you want to create them yourself you will want the sight word cards, readers, and phonics cards. I got several of the training dvd which I have found super super helpful BUT not 100% needed. I did also purchase the figure 8 paper, you can make your own BUT I really like that it has the alphabet directions on the pad and you only use one sheet per week so one pack is enough to last a whole year.

    I have a 13 year old and 11 year old twins who are reading below grade level with dyslexia, we’ve been doing at diet changes at the mo!!! Visual cues looks awesome!!! We’ve been advised not to use sight words as my kids have word pictures but new words they can’t code as they haven’t used it as a sight word!!! We find followeing along with fingers help us but we’ve not tried different colours or a visual overlay yet.

    How do you still like Dianne Craft Curriculum? I am evaluating it now for my 2nd grader. I know that it is very hands on. We are currently doing Barton and am thinking this may be better for him as he struggles with Symbol Imagery, yet is very good at Concept Imagery. And how do you like Nessy? I also need something hands off that he can do in the car, etc.

    • @LifeintheMundane
      @LifeintheMundane  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s very very hands on but we have seen great results with Diane craft. I ended up not being a huge fan of nessy, it’s not bad it was just easy for my kids to game the system and progress without really knowing the info.

      @@LifeintheMundane Thank you so much for the response. I put in an order for DC. We are still doing Barton as I think that the consistency of it is good, but will add DC in the summer as I think it will play to his strengths. We also started using Amira app. It uses AI to help him read. It is good b/c he can read to it while I am working with the other kids.

As far as how to do the figure 8 I’m not sure that I’m allowed to share how to do it bc it’s part of the proprietary methods in the brain integration manual but here is an example video the company has shared on their TH-cam page. It’s not been to much for him at all, that being said for a 5 or 6 year old I would think it would be a lot but still doable just would need to be broken up throughout the day.

      I totally misread your question lol I thought you were asking would it work for little kids not does my teen find it to be little kidish lol I'm sorry. Yes I am using it with my son who is about to turn 13 and no it doesn't have a lot of elements that make it feel young
