Replace Affleck with Keaton and you’re right! Ben has 1:1 the face and bone structure and body shape and height! Keaton was always Way too tiny no muscles, curly hair etc biggest miss casting ever while Ben was casting perfection!! Billy as phantom was great always liked that movie for what it was
This second channel is so much better than his first cosplay channel. Love these movie prop videos. The phantom and the shadow were excellent pulp movies that tried to cash in on batman 89 and return's box officer success.
I absolutely LOVE this movie and I clicked play SO FAST when I got the notification for this episode. The tribal design on the bodysuit is a fantastic detail I've always loved. Whenever I get around to working on my Phantom short film one day I'm very much taking some notes from this suit. I hope you cover The Shadow 1994 sometime soon!!!
I remember watching the movie so countless times as a kid years after it came out. I’ve always loved it and always love Billy Zane in the role. He’s suit has always been a personal favorite of mine and to me it’s as iconic as the Rami Spider-Man suit. It definitely don’t get enough love and appreciation, another big reason I was so stoked when you first made your Phantom cosplay. He’s on my cosplay list as well and I’d love to one day be able to get a Phantom cowl from you!
Fantastic stuff Chris. I absolutely love this film. It was very cool seeing the Billy Zane costume and the level of detail that went into it. It would be awesome if someone would recreate the skulls and the rings as a display piece for your collection.
Absolutely loved the movie as a kid and still really enjoy watching it yo this day. I had all the movie toys and the ring too. Can't beat the suit. it's such a classic one, and as a Phantom cosplayer myself, I would love to have that costume and ware it to a convention.
00:58 I agree. There’s a load of films from that early/mid nineties era that are hugely overlooked despite being great. And the Phantom is definitely one. Along with the Rocketeer and the Shadow!
Oh I love this movie 🤩 Just decided yesterday I wanna watch it once again. I wonder why they haven't made more, proper phantom movies....or Hot Toys figure 😮
Love this movie. When I was a kid, my friends mom worked at a Video store and they were giving out the skull rings whenever you rented a copy the movie. So for his birthday everyone of us got a ring in the party grab bag. wish i still had mine. But there was something faulty with them. Every ring broke lol. the same spot where the band met the skull.
I still have my opening night ticket stub, and the one skull ring. Agreed the movie doesn't get enough love. I think my love for Indiana Jones made me love this movie. Didn't know they shared a writer!
I loved this movie as a kid! Phantom has always been very popular here in the Nordic countries for some reason. The Phantom's suit here is not purple but blue and the stripes on his underpants are red and black, When I watched this movie as a child I wondered when his father appeared as a ghost, was he that old when he died as a Phantom?
If anything, I always wondered why The League of Extraordinary Gentleman's roster didn't include The Phantom, The Shadow, The Rocketeer and Doc Samson. Yeah, I'm old.
the rings were re-called and there was the plastic ones ( that broke) and rubber ones . still got 2 pairs of the metal rings. It'll be cool if you could do some screen used MORTAL KOMBAT and MORTAL KOMBAT ANNIHILATION costumes (even Conquest)
The Phantom was ahead of it's time. In the 90's everyone wanted super serious brooding edgy and cool...this character was never that and this film was never meant to be that. This movie NAILED the spirit of the Phantom and that is pulpy, PRE-SUPERHERO serials and adventure books that pre dated modern superhero comics. It's WAY more indiana jones than batman. It's swashbuckling high adventure and it's a blast and a half. It had just the right balance of reverence and self aware humor as well and Zane was perfectly cast. I have adored that movie since childhood and it still bugs me that we have yet to get a proper series of films about the old school pulp heroes in the modern day. The Phantom, The shadow etc.
Still love The Phantom. I have the novelization, soundtrack, vhs & dvd plus 'behind the scenes' magazine. Billy Zane was made for that role and I think the film still holds up. The scenery looks great and it's paced well. Only downside is that crap about the magic skull ring... hmm. That's a shame.
The Phantom should have gotten a sequel. I consider it a work of art. Man the Shadow and Rocketeer were great as well. It's a shame they never got more success Also why you should never trust anyone who says "Let me hold your glasses".
I have always wished this movie and the Shadow from only a few years earlier had somehow been combined in a “worlds finest style” colab. They should have both been on the level of 78 Superman and 89 Batman…it just wasn’t meant to be sadly.
It was a great movie. It's what Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls should've been but Phantom beat them to it. It should be more known. It was my introduction to Catherine Zeta Jones as well.
This is so cool Did you update the cowl? It looks awesome. Do you know if there’s a stl file around for something familiar I’d love to try and print my own
Billy Zane's face was made for The Phantom role, like Keaton's for Batman, it's undeniable!

I remember I got a Phantom ring from my local comic shop. Was a giveaway. Cheap metal thing that fell apart haha. Loved it

Glad you're loving the channel!
I remember it as a fun movie that never got enough love.

YEESSS!! These we fun to look at. I just found my new sculpting/casting project. The skulls!
I remember back when you announced you were making the cosplay of the suit and I got so Hyped, much love to ya and such an amazing vid

The line that lives rent free in my head is "Xander Drax. Begins and ends with the letter X."

I was so surprised when I visited Australia that the Phantom was super popular there and that you could just buy Phantom comics at any store.
Absolutely loved the movie as a kid and still really enjoy watching it yo this day. I had all the movie toys and the ring too.

"Unbelievable! Amazing! I love this! Show me the power! Show me the power!"
I hate how this film never got a sequel with Billy Zane 😩
Great adaptation, but I never could take Treat Williams seriously as the villain
Great f-ing movie that is woefully under appreciated! Thanks for this video Chris!

never saw this movie but I remember it from the movie rental places when I was young
I would love a last phantom adaptation. that story was so good and i think it would work so well on screen

A movie that made most people hesitant about microscopes lol.
Before you ask, the rocketier helmet prop and jetpack is in Harrisburg PA.

The Rocketeer was my jam

Bruce Campbell auditioned for "The Phantom" the way he told the story he almost got the part
This is so cool

❤
I'm 33, but yes - this made me feel a little older than I should. 🤣
have you seen the modern remake version with Ryan Carnes?
Wtf Chris I wasnt expecting that hood lol
SLAM EVIL!
You look so much better in that cowl than Billy Zane. He is a joke.
Ha! What a cheap jungle trick!
