That No Internet stage is awesome! I love it when a Platform Fighter stage feels like you're actually *on* the stage it's named after and isn't the basic 3 platform battlefield layout placed in front of what the stage is named after (like a lot of Smash's Newer stages). Gimmick stages with uneven layouts can be fun! Impractical, but enjoyable when playing with others.

Those people are busy m!king customs for a game people actually play, with online custom character support and rollback no-less: Rivals of Aether.
Something that kinda annoyis me in Fraymakers custom content is that they often don't match the style of the game. I get why it doesn't because the sprites in Fraymakers are massive and would take a very long time to finish a custom character. I'm mostly just spoiled because Rivals workshop characters usually look very similar to the base game style.
Rivals art style is insanely easy to replicate and pretty much no other art style looks good in RoA. There's still quite a few characters made / being made in the Fraymakers art style but it takes a very long time. A bit strange to get annoyed by people just making stuff for fun
@@SaltLevelsMax That's what I literally said. I'm spoiled by Rivals and Fraymaker style is much bigger in scale and more detailed than Rivals so obviously most custom content won't be in the Fraymakers art style and there will be a lot of sprite rips. Similar to M.U.G.E.N and the early days of Rivals workshop. It's just a personal nitpick of mine as a Rivals player.

There’s been a lot of grumbling about the pacing of the final release on the steam page. Is worth stressing that the studio said that the game won’t be ready until 2 years after Early Access.

Just an fyi for Krillin (or any other Dragon Ball characters): “ki” (also spelled “chi” and “qi”) is pronounced like “key” in Japanese or “chee” in Chinese.
Fun fact. Ronald's sprites was from a game called M.U.G.E.N.
It's a source for a lot of workshop characters sprites. Foxy, Gengar, pretty much any Simpson/Family Guy creation.

The problem with Fraymakers is that none of this is unattainable in Rivals as well, and more people ACTUALLY Play that game and care about it. No one cares about Fraymakers, and people trust rivals as the standard for none-smash plat fighters (which is just the smash problem AGAIN in terms of clout abd percrption).
I feel bad for the dev team, bc I think their vision is noble: create a cool smash game with inherent custom character tools... but what do I learn for using those tools that I wouldn't get learning the more wider used art tools to make a character and gain some real world SKILL along the way?
Nothing really, and you already need that knowledge anyway.
The assists are cool, but really, im not gonna FRAYMAKE anything I couldnt already play in Rivals or that would be better in this then in Rivals itself.

Rivals mechanics aren't 1-1 with Smash though, and I find the cheap indie pixel aesthetic much less endearing for custom content. Love both games, but Rivals workshop was an afterthought while Fraymakers is built around it.
@1982pokemon Being 1-1 with smash is just copying smash. I don't see that as a good thing for a genre that feels more like homage then genre, or in general. Just go play smash. From a raw gameplay perspective, that's a better alternative bc you don't have worry about not finding a match (rivals too).
And you call Rivals' workshop an afterthought? You can play with custom characters online, it's had love put into it.
Was it there originally? No, but it's hardly half-assed.
You just can't make them in game, which hardly matters.
Rivals' aesthetic quality is hardly cheap, pixel sure, but high quality keyposing and animations, music, desgins, stages

@angrymoths afterthought doesn't mean half-assed. Half the things in your post are getting mad at things I never said.
Rivals has much more of an aesthetic clash with anything that doesn't look like Shovel Knight or Deltarune. The higher fidelity and more generic style of Fraymakers lends it much better to custom content of varying quality. Shitty rivals mods that mesh 3rd strike sprites with the 20x20 rivals sprites look way worse than the worst Fraymakers mods, which is the point.
Also Rivals sprites are very well executed and animated, but are undeniably cheap. That's how it succeeded as an Indie game. Now that they have the budget, Rivals 2 is fully modeled.
why can't we just let people enjoy both games. if you don't like it, why do you have to say "play this game, its better". More options is better and people can prefer what they want to play. And you don't get to feel bad for the dev team as they are just happy people are using their tools and making stuff. instead of uniting platfighters together, you are just the bad apple that wants to make rifts and the person both communities don't want. It's more insulting you try and bring down people who are just happy to make stuff for the workshop.
