    == TWO POINT CAMPUS ==
    -Build your university, your way!-
    It’s time to spin academia on its head! Got a yearning for learning? Or just keen to build an educational masterpiece? Campus is jam-packed with new creative tools to help you build the university of your dreams.
    For the first time, build in the great outdoors as you develop your own delightfully educational campus environment, housing the top teaching facilities in the land. Whether you prefer building on simple foundations, or placing every tree, you can build the university you want.
    Lay down pathways with new easy-to-use tools. Plant glorious collections of outdoor flora. Place benches, fountains, sculptures, hedgerows - even picket fences. The only limit is your imagination (and your in-game bank balance).
    -Not the usual fare-
    But, of course, it wouldn’t be a Two Point game without a twist.
    Rather than typical academic fare, students in Two Point County enjoy a range of wild and wonderful courses: from Knight School (hey, we all have to learn jousting at some point in our lives), to the salivatory Gastronomy, where your students will build mouth-watering concoctions like giant pizzas and enormous pies.
    -The academic year… is here!-
    Take advantage of the opportunity to spend way more time with the little people in your university. The academic year begins with a summer break, giving you enough time to get everything looking great before your students move in.
    Build libraries, hire the best staff (from eccentric professors to madcap researchers), kit your campus out with the best courses and watch the academic potential of your students get unlocked!
    -Shaping the future-
    But it’s not just work hard. Get to know your students, explore their individual personalities, wants and needs. Keep them happy with clubs, societies, gigs.
    Surround them with friends, help them develop relationships, furnish them with pastoral care and ensure they have the right amount of joie de vivre to develop into incredible individuals who will do the legacy of your university proud.

    Tip: as soon as you start the game, re-landscape everything outside until you complete the landscaping career goals. It gives you 225 kudosh for free, very useful at the beginning of a career run.

    I'm pretty sure the 8 per classroom tip is kinda wrong.
    By that I mean that I don't think the full class goes to class everytime it seems to me they are split. So when you have 10 it's mostly 5 and 5 everytime.
    So the magic number is probably closer to 16 than 8 actually.
    And this is true simply because the game gives you 10 students by default and yet you never need two class of each on the first year by default. So they don't need to be all 8 in them.
    Also I'm pretty sure that the teacher is counted in the room capacity so it's 7 and not 8 the magic number if you were to stick to that rule.
    tl:dr I don't think caring about numbers is that important as long as your cash balance is good and that you make sure not to create new room/teacher needs that you can't afford for the next year.

    • @ManiacMax
      @ManiacMax  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The big trick is all the variables - it is not just about 8 in the class. So if you put more in the class, sure the game will do it - but then you need an xtra teacher most likely... so you get that teacher but now that teacher costs money so you jack the number up to like 16 - except now you need an xtra dorm to hold the one over student, and you need more resources to supply 16 - and then on courses that third year hits and need double rooms now its even more money... it just snowballs... (this is why they give you this 'general course' a bit later in the game - its to fill in the holes that people try to fill outside of the 8 number I find anyway :) ) Also by dropping to 8 - you'll notice that their learning % is better (so better marks + less hassle + less tutoring + more benefits) and you can charge more usually (more of that sweet sweet monies - just not too much as you balance the happiness factors lol)
      So I still stick to 8, its in all my playthroughs and yes, I do increase the number - by 8's lol - as my classes and campus grow to maintain that :) Sure you can slam in as many as you want except that in the upper levels you make it much harder on yourself :) That being said, everyone plays the way they want and I'm sure you are having a good time playing and making discoveries 👍
      tl;dr sure - money makes the world go around and with enough money you can ignore the 8 rule lol

      @@ManiacMax my point is just that the there's 8 capacity in class rooms so you should go with multiple of 8 is wrong.
      I do think people should tweak the numbers especially the fees going all the way to the max isn't a very big happiness penalty for the amount of money it gives.

      @@sombrego2260 First, let me say: Keeping it in multiples of 8 means YOU MAXIMIZE each classroom, teacher and lectern. . Second let me add that I think you're right about the fact that you don't need to set up a new classroom if you have 9 students. It'll set up multiple classes per classroom and per lectern. However multiples of 8 works well. There's no overlap of say 3 students in a class because as you keep taking students each year, those 3 students WILL eventually require you to build a new classroom and a new lectern on something like year 4 because you'll take say 9 students year 1, 11 students year 2, 13 students year 3. Now you have 33 students which will give you 4 full classes and 1 student left, that one student will still need class time and teacher time. So you'll need 5 classes. One classroom I think can only handle 3 or 4 classes, etc. My point is, eventually that extra overflow will catch up to you. Keeping it in multiples of 8 means YOU MAXIMIZE each classroom, teacher and lectern.

      @@ManiacMax You're mostly right about multiples of 8, however you can run something like 4 classes per classroom. Getting a whole new classroom each time you have 8 students join the school is poor financial advice but also can get fairly difficult to build enough buildings for everything. Different days and times etc. I currently have 32 first year and 32 second year students and only 2 lecture theaters, 2 classrooms and 2 special rooms because they're all enrolled in the same class. Multiples of 8 is correct. But. MY ADVICE IS TO ONLY BUILD NEW ROOMS WHEN THE GAME PROMPTS YOU BEFORE STARTING A NEW YEAR.

    Actually you're wrong.
    While it's true that a course room can only accommodate a class of up to 8 students simultaneously, students only ever have classes in either the first or the second half of the academic year. If you only take in 8 students then the course room will stay vacant for one half of the year. As such, one course room, like a lecture hall or a scientography lab can accommodate up to 16 students, not 8.
    Technically the same is true for a teacher, but unlike rooms teachers need to go on breaks or you want them to do other stuff like research, private tuition or upgrading their skills. That means you need a bit more than one teacher per 16 students.

    • @RustyWalker
      @RustyWalker 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Using the +/- buttons on the student intake informs you when the course has extra requirements for rooms and teachers, to demonstrate the validity of this point.
      Of course, for students that aren't currently in a class, you can send those to private tuition if you have an extra teacher from the second campus onwards.

    • @ManiacMax
      @ManiacMax  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Goll - Actually its more perspective than wrong 🙂 As an example I do find that I can 'mix/match' different courses to use the same rooms more efficiently - though a lot more typing would be needed lol - core gamers may find they can squeeze a bit more out of the rooms thought he average player isn't going to (or want to) do that kind of micro-management - I'm sure you're having fun in any case 👍

    You seem to talk a lot about taking small happiness hits to save money, but my experience with this game is that Money is super easy to come by whereas happiness can be a pain to maintain

    • @ManiacMax
      @ManiacMax  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And actually I haven't had any real happiness factors so far (yes their moods are more tough in later levels though haven't really caused me any problems). That being said totally agree, if you are having a hard time with happiness I would set up my first years with taking their money pretty hard and then switch to giving them a break on money later on to boost their happiness as after several years a campus tends to pull in good money (if things are set up well :) )

    I just did general knowledge class 24 students only needed 2 lecture rooms. Per this video i should have needed 3 lecture hall. So 8 doesn't seem to be the magic number.

    • @ManiacMax
      @ManiacMax  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So general knowledge classes in the game I think were put in intentionally to 'fill the gaps' as small xtra money makers... they are 'filler classes' to your main classes getting full advantage of the lecture room. As a filler course 8 is still the number so you don't get into the supply spiral trap.
      That being said if you are going to build lecture rooms just for general courses (most likely to use them for bigger movie halls - and I have done this as well) then you have basically fill in the holes of a course on the course that fills in holes lol 🤣 Your 3rd class is filling in the holes of your first two classes - doing what it is supposed to do and 8's are working just fine 🙂. Also keep in mind though the 8's are not just about the classroom - it tends to be the overall better number (teachers, rooms, higher happiness, higher grades, others).
      This is why I love running the VR / Internet History / General Course together as a campus package all in 8's... The VR / General History Share the VR Classrooms And are good money makers, The General Course Will Use Both Of Their Lecture Halls, All Three Can Use A Single Library, I didn't have to hire lots of xtra unnecessary staff (eating up my profits), I usually only need 2 Tutor Rooms (just in case really).
      Of course they are just tips, lots of people just play the way they want and it works out fine 😎have fun playing 👍

    • @ManiacMax
      @ManiacMax  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its a balance act - you can jack up the numbers to put more students in - but then you will run into a 'snowball effect' of needing extra teachers, extra rooms, lower happiness, lower grades, spending xtra on happiness items / health / pastoral care (later in the game) just so much stuff :) Also when you get the General Course I tend to use it with each campus going forward with the starting courses to get that xtra income 🙂

      Another thing - for the first 3 years do not expand too fast - just get the students the basics (only enough dorm space to hold them for that year, their classrooms, some food / relax choices and their basic items like benches and love seats / paintings ONLY when they ask for them and a simple library). If they ask for food court kiosk items, place them but dont staff them (they wont care as long as you have enough chip / drink machines around), skip the teachers lounge, staff lounge and student union until you have money and dont give them movies until later. Time to make a follow up video I guess 😉
