Having single bed dorms is a bad idea. You need that room to have high prestige for the students to regain energy quickly, but that adds to the cost of each room. You can still reduce the cost per student by having multiple beds in the room. I find that 10 beds is a good number, allowing each dorm to house up to 50 students. Although in practice you'd probably only want 48 students in there. For bathrooms, I'd say roughly 1 toilet per 10 students is a good ratio. Build your first bathroom with 4 stalls and that basically takes care of your first dorm. When you build your second dorm, the next toilet block should have 6 stalls, and just keep repeating that pattern. The shower blocks aren't as important because you should have multiple ways for students and staff to improve hygiene, so one block of 6 showers per 100 students should be enough. Just have a few hand sanitizers in the hallway to spread the load. The Student Lounge is a great way to get your campus started in a big way. By carefully choosing the items you place inside, you can have a 3x5 room with 13 prestige that only costs a bit over $14k. This room helps with the food, drink, entertainment, friendship, hygiene and energy (with the Palpitation drink machine) needs of the students, so it's a good room to place in general, but right at the start of a campus it's particularly important to raise your campus level quickly. Just spam these rooms until you get to campus level 6 and can access all the loans and get slightly better staff. Then sell the lounges that you don't need right now. Not all decorative items are created equal. Most only boost a room's prestige by 20%, but there are some that add 30%, 40%, 50% or even more. Crazy Taxi for example boosts a room's prestige by a crazy 120%! There are a few relatively cheap items available to be placed in many rooms that are particularly significant. The Circuit Board, Posh Painting, Family Tree and Large Window all add 40% prestige. The Two Point Banner, Rainbow Flag, Road Sign, No Entry Sign, Chef Poster, Recycle Poster, Cheeseball Poster, DI Poster, Flower Pennant, Duck Pennant, Star Pennant, Food Groups Poster and Hygiene Poster all add 30%. That percentage decreases as you place multiple copies of the item, so you should probably place a maximum of 2 per room. In the hallways, those $50 decorations are mostly all you need to use on the walls, and outside mainly use the $10 plants. All rugs just increase prestige by 20%, so just use the cheapest/smallest ones for preference. Also, keep an eye on the course requirements, because all courses require specific items, some of which are decorative. And students will ask for particular decorative items from time to time, so it's usually worth providing one or two copies of those on the campus somewhere. Libraries are one of the most important rooms you can have on your campus. I usually like to build them as 4x5 with the big library desk, 2 of each of the study desks and three of the special bookcases. But if you have Archaeology as one of the subjects on your campus, have one bigger library of around 7x4. This allows you to display the pots, dino bones and insects the archaeologists love so much. If you have a campus with more than 3 courses, you might want to build a 4x6 library to hold the extra bookcases.
Found out, students are completely fine with just a small entertainment/food area with some shops and tables, a syou built up in this video. My campus runs with good profit without a student lounge, just a movie event from time to time gets me mainly A to A+ grades. Also the number 8 is a big deal, as you allready mentioned, 8 is a good number for a two bed bedroom, its also great for the new-student-per-year rate. i even reduce the students in the first year to a multiple of 8 so my rooms work more efficient. 10 new students need usually two sessions in one room, but 8 need only one session and i can use the second session for another 8 students.
About the point of not able to spam items, for student club rooms, computer / AI room, library etc, if we add more of something e.g. multiple printers, shelves of books, multiple sets of the same equipment requested by student NPCs, it should boost the reputation / prestige of the room, correct?
Yes it boosts the prestige however each additional duplicate item will increase it less and less each time to the point where it barely increases it at all
I like to place food Stalls outside, so the students get "lured" outside and hence get the health boost from being outside ;) I also found that dormatories with more beds in them and high Prestige Work best. Spamming items is party okay, place 3 items (not more) and you should be fine
@leighg712 you’ve got to Jam Pack that thing full of items, but not more than 3 of the same item as then you start to get less prestige build up per item.
Sadly, this method doesn't work so well on Fluffborough. I had to restart that one several times. Best to start basic, build as you need and pick an easy complimentary course to help with funds. I also found making a giant dorm with a large number of beds in it worked great, just make sure there's no more than 4 to a bed otherwise the students get cranky. ;)
Thanks! So I usually wait a few months till I put in a staff room but if you have the cash there is nothing stopping you from getting one built early. It’s just quite a few of the levels are money tight at the start!

100% the rule of 4-5 to max rental income!! I’m also a big fan of expanding slowly.
Hey Harry. Nice video as usual. No staff room to start out with?
Thanks! So I usually wait a few months till I put in a staff room but if you have the cash there is nothing stopping you from getting one built early. It’s just quite a few of the levels are money tight at the start!
