La Salle Fan but I'm just so impressed on UP's Defense. DLSU needs to find an answer on UP's defensive variations, if not then UP will celebrate on Sunday. Aldous Torculas reminds me of Rhenz Abando, all hustle and committed on his role. Hoping that Game 2 won't be a one sided one again, I wanna see down the wire action.
nerves got the better of the DLSU players here. First ever finals, and their lack of composure showed except for Philips.

Nag pa cute si topex. His combination on the floor are not always his strongest. In the pro leagues the starting five are always the strongest. They start strong and they keep that intensity all throughout using a core of eight to nine(max) players. Granted that UP was able to defend against la Salle effectively; remember the first thing that coaches wil instill in players is the belief that there is no such thing as an off night on defense. La Salle was taken out of their rhythm and it frustrated them by the physical play of UP.
Earlier this week a blogger was making predictions. He was making comparisons on skill ,athleticism and some other obvious factors. But he forgot to mention team attitude and intensity. UP showed it tonight. DLSU is also capable of this but they have to be patient and show some desperation. They looked like a beaten team early in the third.

Masterful gameplan by UP. They probably knew DLSU was gonna go zone on defense to start (with UP being subpar from 3 this season), so UP went ham and ran on every chance they got. 17 points off 11 DLSU turnovers in the first half for UP. Incredibly creative also of Coach Gold to put different defenders on KQ - a pesky one in Alarcon, a bruiser in Torres, athletic ones in Torculas and Lopez, to take the MVP out of his rhythm. Hats off to Phillips, awesome game for him being the only one to cause problems for UP, only marred by that flop in the 4th 😅 UP’s championship experience in JD and Malick dictated the start, while their youth and vigor in Torculas, Alarcon, and Lopez showed out in the second half. It’s now up to Coach Topex and staff to adjust for Game 2.
sometimes u gotta flop so the refs can spot the foul they’d otherwise miss. So i don’t hold that against him🤣
Agree with Alarcon, or any quicker player, guarding KQ. Really put him off his game. And guarding him on his grill really exposed KQ's suspect handle.

Ganda defensive system ng UP, just sheer dominance with the switching. Literally impenetrable unless you have a Kouame level player on your team.

Torculas, although will make his own name, is turning out to be like Zav Lucero👏 . Abadiano is a match-up to Nonoy. Francis Lopez and Felicilda are playing like vets. Not only are the UP guards elite, but the big men and wingmen are also coming through!

I was about to write kilometric post and then I realized I have to gather my thoughts. The pace of the game was so fast that I find it hard to digest all at once.
Anyway, I just wanna say kudos to Coach Gold, Coach Christian, Coach Tom and the rest of the coaching staff for preparing the boys. Good job boys for the good execution. It was a great contribution to all of you guys. We love the hustle and talent!

DLSUer here. Congrats to UP, practically won in all departments... As for the Green Archers, it's our first finals in so many years, so championship jitters plus you have to use your strengths, have the desire to win, check the video, see what works and what doesn't. Animo La Salle!
Great game by UP! Defense was key but offense was smooth. Topex was out coached all throughout the game!
No adjustment from Topex Robinson sa 2nd half. Defense was well executed from start to finish,
UP's performance was simply splendid. They outsmarted La Salle in a thousand and one ways, as evidenced by the final Game 1 score. Armed with a functional strategy, UP was eager to win and showed it how with a period, er, a double exclamation point!! There is still Game 2, though, and everybody crosses their fingers that this second game of the three will not be the last.
DLSU's performance was simply splendid. They outsmarted UP in a hundred and one ways, as evidenced by the final Game 2 score. Armed with a functional strategy, DLSU was very eager to win and showed it how with an exclamation point! There is still Game 3, though, and everybody crosses their fingers this third and final game goes to their respective team, either UP or DLSU.

DLSU was disorganized, and you can't win a game by just playing more on one on one plays but more on set and team plays, 3 points etc etc.
