This is when a vacation/service call quickly turns into a Nightmare on Elm Street. I have done that for my father-in-law in Lakeland, FL. Makes returning home to Tennessee the REAL vacation!
This dude has got every cool little gadget you can think of 😂😂
Tools are key
As soon as you showed the indoor unit I said " yeah, they need a new system "
I had a similar situation and I converted it to a package unit and cut a new return in the floor, it worked out great.
Oh man. What a mess. Great video.
Yea, Dumpster Fire !!! 🔥 Evap Coil Fins all smashed & coil looks like it's a old r-22 coil. Need to pull Everything & Replace.
Always a mess for Family. I bet on his way back home, he gets a call saying it stopped working. Never fails 😒
Welcome to Florida brother. 🎉
Appreciate the professionalism from fellow sparkie !
Lovely work. Falling in love with HVAC
Good job Zack always helping the family. I hope you can find some people to give you a hand. That’s very nice from you to go to a different state and help your mother-in-law Wish you the best man.
I hope you can find some help no people telling you what are you doing wrong trying to help the family out . 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Need to have a mobile home company come in and reinsulate the underneath of the mobile home and reinstall the vapor barrier that was there. The duct sets in the insulation for the underneath. Now all the hot humid air is going straight through the floor.
This. If not the floor will rot out
Was literally on my way to typing something similar to this. Mobile home duct isn’t insulated with wrap, it’s generally inside a vapor barrier full of insulation. BUT, you could DAP closed cell spray foam kit and spray the bottom of floors and insulate/spray foam the duct. Cheapest option probably. Or pay a mobile home to put a new vapor liner and fill it up with insulation.😅
Nice bro you always do a great job 💯
Always the wife getting us into something 🤦♂️
Always said I should have married an orphan 😂
@@sashly99 😛😂
agreed. I got 5 split unit which i gonna take care of at my in-law house. Not include mine. But not as much as her. Less talk jobs on
Hello coffee nerd. Love a good setup. Baratza is a good brand if it ever breaks, they have parts. Very good company. As a fellow camping enthusiast there is a decent 12v grinder out there. turin dm47, dual power capable. But really it's just a 12vdc with a transformer. Then you can do some campfire cowboy coffee. Obviously with a camper you'll have ac but it's a decent option if you need a change. That baratza is a bit noisy. But don't ever get a sette 270, that will wake the neighbors. I've used one for years and hate the experience. Just upgraded to a df83v, fairly large but incredible quiet.
Thanks Zac, a interesting video, all the best with the change over for your mother in law... BTW, a lovely family you have there, and the nice caravan set up Enjoy 👍 Au
Helping family is what it’s all about! Love the wife’s crocs 🤙🏻
What a nightmare system. You definitely need a lot of help with that. I admire that you are such a good
man; you will certainly be rewarded for all that you do for everyone.
I would bypass mobile home ductwork and rerun standard duct system (granted there’s room). The mobile home ductwork is incredibly undersized.. it’s usually aluminum and 3-4”x12”. Then you could remove duct and insulation and spray foam the floor with closed cell foam. Also install a package system instead of going back with mobile home equipment. and remove the furnace and coil from inside, to prevent future water damage.
Agree
This is the way 👍
Agree
Love the family trips. Making memories for those kids
Lot of work for mom and dad. Pour over is the best for a pre work coffee.
Hi Brother, is always good to Help specially when is a Family, I have been following your Channel quite a few years, since I started in HVAC INDUSTRY now I got my License and with it an HVAC Company, and I just want to make you aware, to buy equipment in Florida you need to be an Air Conditioning Licensed Contractor A or B, we hold B License and to Install the Unit also you going to need that, I just want to give you aheads because if you install a new unit without the Proper License and you Show it in Your Channel you may get in trouble be careful.
Thank for all you been Showing it helps a lot and God Bless
Best brother in law, thank you for trying to save the day 😂😂
At 6:33 I love it when customers agree with me hahaha 😂 I was with you on everything until you popped open the electrical components panel I automatically said oh damn they need a new system.
You pulled into the beaver gas station this is awesome! I had no idea what those were until two days ago that I saw TH-cam video about all these beaver gas stations popping up. And then I see your video like I said I would not recognize it. Otherwise that’s kind of cool.
You know Keith Urban came to that Bucee's and played a mini pop up concert.
Great content!
Ya don't know what you're getting into =D that's a normal call. For a 7+ hour commute even a family member status client could be bothered to get the local neighborhood kid to shoot some pics if mom is not able to get the pics.
Just a thought but matters not ! Keep up the great work!
It's appears to be the original Nordyne system, maybe Frigidaire, 5ton R410A unit installed in 2012/13, both condenser and evaporator are R410A. It looks like the air handler has had a hard life but it does work. Having not inspected it personally and based on what I have seen and heard in the video, all of which is important to planning the project, I would follow this order as resources permit. Check/fix electrical, cleanup system, Insulate ducts (wrap or board?) and that would give you a decent working A/C system). After that, work on insulating the floor when time, manpower and finances allow, (probably rolled fiberglass between joist then covered with plastic as was original). All the while considering the type, age and location of home. My reasoning is, this is a family project, which comes with, license, funds, manpower, distance and time concerns. As a plus, it is in a mild location. This is not a high dollar contract job that needs to be done immediately, will make you a lot of money or brought to 2024 standards, so I would not plan it that way. It's a budgeted family project that needs to be done to help out. Your a good man for taking it on...
Welcome to Florida buddy....
Install a package unit, install return where the down flow air handler was
That’s exactly what I was gonna say
They have clean and comfortable bathrooms
Why txv it was clearly airflow, if it was txv it would be high suction temp (high superheat) or if falled open it would be low superheat high suction. She only need a pull and clean probably.
On ya mate keep up the great work.
Zack at 11:04 having the Vapor Saturation showing 29.5 degrees doesn’t that mean the coil will definitely freeze. If so what things can you do to have that number raise up past 32 degrees? Thanks in Advance
Is the system low on refrigerant? If you add some wouldn’t that increase the Pressure and raise the temperature? Still learning thanks
Thanks for this!
Would love to know what’s all been to the denial since u bought it, have been doing hvac for 4 years now and watched u since I started and learned a good amount of things from u that I have used
being Canadian forgive my ignorance. is the housing envelope really that loose in the states that a 5 ton unit would be needed? here in canada a 3000 sq ft house would have maybe a 3 ton unit
It hits 105+ over here and out attics reach temps of 140 and up in the summer it’s brutal
Well A, it's a trailer, B it's a massive amount hotter than Canada at any given time with a much higher latent load. So yeah
Truck looks good!!
You're the man.
Put some mini splits in. Vrf system.
Believe it or not I’ve been coming across those type coils on the Facebook market. Cheap for the new ones. You’re better off just putting together a system for her and just install it.
2:48 I suddenly want to drive endless miles to spend way too much on bucee's jerky and brisket. 😳 darn you anyway.
Might Be a Better idea to Just Buy them a New House. That Place Looked unhealthy. Sell that Place !!!
or Remodel it & Get LOTS OF TH-cam CONTENT !!! Remodelling the Mother in laws place. Maybe work with some other TH-camrs ! if You want Content. That place is a Gold mine !!!
Maybe Buy a Place for Her That Will actually Go up in Value. investment For You & Tax write off. all kids of things to think of.
9:54 holy sh!t. Did it survive a fire🔥🔥. That thing needs to be red tagged. Time for a new Bosch Mikey Pipes is in Fl as well. That would be epic to see y’all working in the same video. Lol. Heck get Steve L to drive down to. Bwhaha. Better yet Washington likes to work on nasty old systems gotta get him out of Texas. Probably needs a Fl vacation 😂
We won’t install anything bigger than a 3 ton on a mobile home. The ductwork is not big enough to handle anymore air
You are a great son-in-law!!
🤔 i wish my wife would agree to a trip like this! Hahahaha
Geez humidity and salt air destroys these systems!
Im going on vacation this coming up week to Santa Rosa, Unfortunately the wife said no HVAC for me the week of my vacation
Great video. Thank you for sharing
Why is there a babyseat in the front seat?
What size wheels, tires and lift/level on your truck? Looks nice. I assume those are Fuel Rebel 8 wheels and Ridge Grapplers.
How do you take care of your customers when you're on vacation like this? Refer?
Will be a good change out
Dudes got A new car every month. Keep them overheads down bro.
She’s a crusty one momma (in law).
So if you live in Tennessee how are you going to work a/c in Florida? You’re not licensed in Florida .
Those zip ties are going to get cold and heat up over and over and loosen up again. I know it's just temporary but so are stainless pipe clamps. Good idea to have them stocked on the truck because you see that with bulbs all the time.
Dudes 7 hours away and that systems a mess. Perfection is limited here.
You know what’s crazy I have seen the stainless ones lately snapping away the copper ones cracking away. All of them have issues.
I’ve had zip ties last for years
@@knighttrain2579 I'm sure. But if you've gone back and checked them, there is a 0% chance they haven't loosened.
10 deep breaths
We’re about to get a buc cees in the boro
Blower is probably dirty as well unless you cleaned that also
nice " Owl " hat ............!
Who was that handsome guy drinking coffee? Some relative?🤓
That’s where I work and live. You can send me over if she needs anything.
Give me a call and me and you can do a package unit conversion
95/320 is low this time of year.
Mobile home units get so filthy
Nice vlog
How does licensing for contractors work across state lines? I know FL has different requirements for A/Cs that TN does. Not sure in TN but you will have to pull a permit to replace the A/C, etc.
That morning hair tho.
New ductwork and equipment
Thats 100% a R22 Evap and a R410A Condenser!!!
That’s a pretty common scenario with jackleg techs☹️
That and installing a new freshly stolen condenser unit from a new house under construction😢
Won’t using r410a which is way higher of pressure in a r22 coil gonna destroy that coil!?
@@Killerbuckets23 I don't even want to think about it.
It's a fbcoil 5595740 R410A evaporator and txv...
That coil needs to be replaced
And they got the best restrooms in the world
Your vapor saturation temperature was 29 😬
Dont get caught working without Florida air license lol Video evidence 🤣🤣
I dont know why people love bucees either. I think the answer is marketing
BUC-EE’S!!!!!
Mobile homes never have quality systems in them. That thing was rough looking and looked like black mold in the air handler.
Plugging buggo
I would rip everything out of there and start from scratch. Installing a package unit with all new ductwork. That rectangle aluminum ductwork is trash. 👎
wow 😂👍
This whole trip is a tax right off, huh? 😅
-Note to self: Never do family work.
looks like a new mobile home needs put in place of that one, yikes.
You must be at the one in Alabama that’s the one I always stopped at when I go to work at the Sleep Outfitters in Tennessee. I’m from Tuscaloosa Alabama.
Yep that's the one
Buckys Beaver Beaver Buckys, whatever
I’d say it needs a new system yikes
uhhh, that's gotta go...
call for a tweaker
Go to a package unit and new duct system if you can
Yikes
Did you know children under the age of 9 in TN can't sit in the front seat. Hope that helps
letting a toddler watch tv is just shit. it damages the brain emensly. between the ages of 0 to 3 its super damaging and reduces the iq. from 3 up to ~6 it's best to not. from 6 onwards maybe 30 mins and only supervised. something like nature documentations and easy going stuff like that. with 9 you can do a lot more -> like a movie but still only supervised. so that you can explain a situation or repeat or take a break.
but the damage is already done,... the video running in the backseat for your youngest child is one of these stupid and damaging videos. fast transitions fast cuts. this is so bad.
This video is about HVAC and helping out. Comments made should relate to content and be constructive. Your comment is about parenting totally unrelated and comes off rude. It’s not your place to tell someone how to parent. If you have nothing nice to say then don’t say anything.
@@hvacjedi on one hand: correct it has nothing to do with Avac , but if people post their children and show how little they care, something like this happens.
@@SteffenF well it shouldn't happen and have you ever been on a long trip wirh little ones, they have to be entertained for the long ride. Also do you follow the channel because he does post other things he does with his kids and it is not electronic based. You are basing his parenting skills on one video and wirhout know his family dynamics personnally so again I reiterrate that it is not your place to make those comments. You could have mentioned in a different manner but its how you said it which is the problem.
Bucees. The most inconvenient convience store there is.
