Kevin played Batman in projects where Mark wasn't Joker like Injustice where Joker was voiced by Richard Epicar and the DCAMU where Joker was voiced by Jason Spisak.

Even though he stays composed and stays put together, you can see the heartbreak in his eyes and some of his body language. RIP to Kevin the true Dark Knight.

That's truly the bond of Batman and joker. Complete opposites, but at the end of the day one begets the other. For there to be a joker, there needs to be a Batman. And for there to be a Batman, there needs to be the joker level threat. It's beautiful to me that Mark refuses to do joker without his Batman. Because you KNOW that if the joker found out Batman passed away, he'd probably retire too. He would probably be able to easily take over Gotham, but he'd probably say, "bahhh, it's no fun without the bat."
Its been shown in many iterations of Batman that when Batman hangs the cape up or dies the clown prince of crime deteriorates and also hangs up the gags. No two people could encapsulate their parts so well as Mark Hamil and Kevin Conroy.
When Batman died in one of the comics, Joker loses himself (until he realized he can make people suffer at the DMV 🤣)

It comes for us all. This is why we must make the most of the time that is given to us. I'd say that Mark has made much of his time, so I wouldn't be sad about it. He did things he obviously enjoyed greatly and that many of us enjoyed too, given the fans' responses.
He is 72. With a slight tremble in his hands. Noticed that in his left thumb straight away. Hopefully it is jus through age which comes to us all eventually. As long as its not something more serious and he has been checked out.
He had them many years. I noticed it in a video 6 years ago when he met Adam Scott on a talkshow. It hasn't escalated, still just the thumbs.

I think this is the best thing that an actor has done, even though he is the joker i know from being a kid to my adult years and Conroy as batman its a perfect way to retire.
Conroy and Hamill have as much respect as they have (and rightly deserve) not only due to their immense talents but their respect for the source material. So much so that they have both forever changed the characters they portrayed.

That's just called loyalty and friendship. They knew they brought the best out of eachother in their performances. A duo unlike any other. I grew up watching them and hearing them. To this day I'm 35 years old and when I read comics in my head thw joker is voiced by Mark hamil and same for Conroy as batman. To me that's their voices. They were iconic.
The kind of chemistry that is developed over the years is not something easy to replicate. And once it's gone, things are never the same after that.
The chemistry between their two voices was immaculate. Unlike any of the other Batman/Joker douos.

I assumed this was why he retired but it still hits hard to know it's true, such a joker thing to do, I'm sure there was a comic where the Joker quit crime when Batman died
Pretty sure he retired after he revealed that he was a pretty terrible person privately to the point that the majority of his past fans turned on him.
Rape accusations, attempting to force the mother of his grand daughter to have a abortion, the Epstein island trips... Honestly the joker is a bit too morally decent for mark to fit the casting at this point.

I was lucky enough to know Kevin personally (we were friends on Facebook and Twitter/X) and spoke a few times via video call. I asked about Mark once and Kevin said "Mark is not just my close friend, to me he's always family, I love him like a brother."

Two legends never forgotten
Very, very rarely have two voice actors made chemistry that’s so perfect that it’s nearly impossible to imagine one without the other. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill are an example of that. There may have been others to play the characters of Batman and Joker before and after Mark and Kevin debuted in the DCAU franchise, but never will anyone be nearly as compatible as these two, IMO.
RIP Kevin Conroy. Thank you for being part of my childhood.
