The hight amount of medication damages the eggs, that is what is said, it gives better quality. It is like using fertiliser in your garden: the right amount makes the plant grow well, but if you apply more fertiliser thinking they will grow better, you actually burn the plants. Same principle. Particular old age woman who only produce 4, 6, 12 eggs per cycle, benefit from NOT frying those precious eggs. Hence minimal stimulation IVF works so well on them.
Which drugs they use for mini ivf? I have 6 eggs and did. with letrozole and ovitrelle but still waiting to Test Pregnant but I don’t think so it works. My Dr. said if it is not work he will injection brevactid .What do you think pls tell me if you have any information about . Am now 44 and my amh 98 LH and FSH are not high Thank you
Why some doctors seem to be so 'nervous' about the option of Mini IVF when they should advocate to use less medication under the principle of 'not hurting first'. Wondering, would that have something to do with cashing in from pharma?🤔
I heard a doctor explain it perfectly he explained why Mini IVF is so much better for low ovarion reserve " If you cook for two people the food amount for two, they will be so happy and satisfied after the meal. But if you cook for two people the equivalent amount for 10 people to eat, the two people will feel sick and throw up cause its simply too much." So its the same with the giving someoone with low ovarion (less than 6 follicles) the full dosis of medication for 15 or 20 eggs. What will happen? You make those eggs feel sick and you destroy them. So the less follicles you have, the less medicine you need to give the patient. In Denmark for example that is standard and i love that. I find it crazy how so many doctor keep pushing high stimulation on Low ovarion especially.
My clinic understimulated me on 150 units. I have a very high AMH and I was only left with 1 blastocyst from 15 eggs retrieved. I have to pay for another egg retrieval again. I am glad you have clarified there is no evidence of low dose stimulation leading to better outcomes, as this is clearly echoed in my results. My fertility clinic also market themselves as "the leader in mild and natural IVF", which I now realise is just a marketing ploy. I wish I would have watched this video a month ago, I will be switching clinics.

I am currently doing a second mini stem ivf cycle. My doctor says that my ovaries are 10 years younger than my age. After seeing this video I wish I knew the difference and see if regular IVF would have been an option for me.
@@anna-kaymorrison got it. They got a high afc count on my US as well and my amh is high for someone my age..but we don't know the quality of them until we do IVF/ egg retrieval... How many did they retrieve and how many good embryos did you end up with by chance, out of curiosity? This video has me questioning why I was told by my docs that they expect to retrieve only 10 to 13 total when we do IVF...yet they counted 23 on US. 🤔 something I need to ask about for sure.
@@fionacofield8368 my first cycle they got 8 eggs but only 5 were mature to fertilize. Only one made it to the point where it could be tested but it did not make it. There is no way to judge the quality of an egg like this video states. Since this is my second cycle the key is trying to get as many enlarged follicles which will hopefully lead to matured eggs. My doctor encouraged me to do a second cycle since he was able to get 8 eggs during the first retrieval. We will see next week.
Sorry to hear this, Did you guys tested the male factor, like fragmentation or just regular analysis. Did doctors told you what might be the reason. Because based on you age and basic embryo math you should have at list 1 to 2 blastocyst.
Hi Dr Crawford :) My clinic charges less for mini stim versus traditional. At 37 years old, AMH of 13.4 pmol/L, AFC of 20 do you think I would benefit from mini or traditional? I’ve tried different doses of letrozole in my IUIs but always ended up with just the one lead follicle (same as my unmedicated cycle).
I'm 34 with an AMH of 1.1 and had 12 follicles when I was tested. I also am positive for a clotting disorder which meant I've never been on hormonal BC. Would you recommend mini stim or standard for me? Looking at options now
i had mild, 150 bemfola dose only and only 4 eggs was collected and 3 fertilized and only 1 went in day 3 transfer, just waiting outcome now and good news,xx

Hi Dr. Question on the AFC count ultrasound. Does it have to be done on a certain day of your cycle? Or can it be performed any day throughout the month?

Out of curiosity how did they find that out about your ovaries? Was it when they did the egg retrieval?

So for DOR poor responders mini IVF is the best choice?

So priming with omnitrope and LDN for 1-3 months before an egg retrieval doesn't help the quality either ?
