Id probably replace the PVC with some steel tubing...or maybe some aluminum square tube. That flex would be gone and you'd be up on that platform like a boss. But hey...its cool as hell either way, and if it works it works.
I’ve been thinking about reinforcing it with something. Nothing was glued yet in this video. I wanted to test the distance to the water first. I shortened up the horizontal and the 45s going down and it’s a ton stronger now.
@wymple09 You’re correct! I already had it so I just went with it. I shortened them up and now I have a much better angle to the water. This was also before I glued and screwed the joints.

Definitely want something with less flexibility
He turned a canoe into a whole boat
Here in South East Asia I think rattan is better choice
Get some aluminum tubing. Buy it from a wholesaler you can get a 24’ stick for like 30 bucks
Sick!
lol you were paddling to no where
Can you show how you mounted the seat?
Honestly it was a pain in the butt! The seat has a mounting bracket and I just went directly into the canoe seat with long screws at an angle.
because you're using pvc, look how much it flexes and gives. need to redo it with some proper steel tubing
This is before glue and screws. I also shortened it up a little. It’s a lot more sturdy now.
Put some stiffening inside the PVC tube.
What’s the orange thing on the back ? Thank you in advance!
It’s just something I used for flagging when I go down the road.
Looks like schedule 40 with all that flex. Use schedule 80. Way better.

Pvc pipe will bend 😂
