Like we mentioned in the episode, there are SO many good cameras being made these days! This episode would have been 10 hours long (and super boring lol) if we listed out every good camera kit combo that you can buy. SO, we'd love to hear from you - what's your go-to camera kit that you're loving right now?!

When I started photography about 3 years ago, I was super broke student who was bored during covid pandemic, so I bought my first DSLR camera (Canon 1000Fn paired with sigma 28-80mm), so I started shooting my favorite moments and got the phots printed and gave most of them away to my friends, and it became super popular but I still shot for myself, after I saved some money I bought my first digital camera, Canon 1200d with the set lens and THE HOLY 50mm f1.8, with which I really fell in love with and I enjoy using it to this day.
After about year with my 1200d I was starting to feel the limitation mainly by the crop sensor since I was switching between my film DSLR's which were full frame and I became a little spoiled by them, so I bought Canon 5d mk3 which is super heavy, but really amazing with the 50mm and recently I bought Sigma 24-70 f 2.8 and enjoying my setup mainly for events like car meets and concerts. I like the progress of my learning and will be working on my portfolio so i could get better job offers in the future.

Canon 5D M IV + Sigma 35mm 1.4 and you can shoot the complete Wedding, Photo and Video. My 5D4 have CLog and DPAF and i can shoot with Display like mirrorless, Best Camera for Begginers👍

You can also add white borders directly from Lightroom Mobile while exporting

    Canon R6 Mark II + RF 24-70mm f/2.8
Bought them used on eBay and payed $3800 for that kit.
I shoot primarily photos and want to start investing more in video so the R6MK2 was the best option for me for the budget that I had.

Totally agree with the flow of getting all the gear. I started with iPhone (playing with vlogging and composition and creative ideas), went to Sony point and shoot 90V for a year still personal projects and renting canon dslr for photo and video freelancing work and finally got my very own Sony (sorry guys) because of the in body stabilisation A6500 for actual commercial and wedding work and finally jumping into full frame 3 years ago A73 and A74s as the main workhorses. I am still struggling to jumping into G master lenses. hahaha..

The thing about one card slot back in the mid 2000s bodies: I was an early adopter Nikon D70 shooter...I accidentally ran a CF card in the laundry (wash AND dry) and it was fine. No damage, no lost files, card still worked. Some of those cards were built like Nokia 3310s - will never die 😙👌

Dang, what Stephen said about shooting video on the R6 struck a chord with me. It DOES feel like something is missing - resolution, sharpness, color ability, dynamic range - it just lacks, and and I feel less creative when using it!

You can also export images from Lightroom Mobile with a border as well! That’s how I normally would do it when I remember to! 😂

I think the canon r6mk2 craps on the Sony a7IV. It has better battery life, 4K 60 with no crop, better colors, better screen, and it’s cheaper than the Sony

Great episode for the beginners!! I wish there are contents like this when I started 10 years ago.
For the 2 Sony bodies route, don’t forget the Tamron/Sigma 28-70/2.8-ish standard zooms! They have great value for what they are!

    Great chat lads!
While I dual-card shoot now with LUMIX S5II and 2x S5 bodies - pretty much every other body I used to film or photograph my first 30-40 weddings all had single SD card slots.
Panasonic G7, G85, Canon RP, 6D - not one failure.
All the narrative around needing two slots is pushed way too hard.

I’ve been really tempted to go backwards to a dslr after shooting almost only mirrorless for the past 5 years

It's wildly tempting. Feeling very similar to going back to film for nostalgia and slowing you down a bit.

When I started in videography, I got the Canon 80D in 2019 (I guess 3 years after it was released) and rented lenses to upgrade the quality. I think the comparison now would be renting an R6 an EF 24-70 and RF/EF adapter for a few gigs to figure out direction and make the best work you can with that gear and play the long game and start getting paid for your work because you have better looking work. I'm still on an R6 with an EF 24-70, and even though I feel it lacks in low light and doesn't give me the image I want, I still haven't made enough money using it to justify buying a better, more capable setup (for video).

Absolutely. Upgrading gear when you can afford it is the best move in my opinion. It makes me sad to see people struggling to "pay off" gear they never really could afford in the first place. -Eric

The new RF Mount cameras from Canon (R7, R8, R10) are a good proposition for features and pricing but looking even better now that there are consumer level lenses is the RP. ❤ stretching a bit, the R6 is amazing for what it has too - pretty affordable on the used market nowadays 👍
