    Nice buck. I got one very similar last year. FYI, check the Ontario regs, we’re required to wear orange head dress as well and the back pack isn’t allowed to cover your vest like that. Save yourself a fine.

    been going up there for 11 years now..me and my friend after sum phone calls got permission to hunt alfalfa fields up there.. alfalfa as far as the eye can see..easy hunting..flat ground nice weather and many many deer..in fact i never hunted a place with more 140 to 150in whitetails ever..its like hunting the milk river in montana for a 125in whitetail..we have doubled every single year coming home with 2 bucks..only last year was first year my buddy tagged out and i didnt..i watched a 170in buck everynite and held off for just him which didnt happen and all this is bowhunting as well..no gun hunting..we have seen an occasional 170 to 190in buck but other than a yearling it seems like every buck where we hunt is always in that 145 to 155 range..incredible place to hunt and as long as we have the permission every year we will be going every year..

    As a kid I grew up in this area and killed a lot of deer..you will find lots of sheds and in my own opinion of buck doe ratio is one buck to four does. Some days are better, I love the cold snap and
    Crown land is better than private per the number of hunters..I have hunted Crown land and always killed Big bucks,Bring a compass you will need one and hunt edges. You WILL!! see bucks .
    Some old ones with small racks, they die of old age here, no BS.. Imagine an area half the size of Michigan with less than 5000 hunters (bow/rifle). You may never hear a gun shot or see a hunter..
    There are lots of wall hangers here.
    7-18-18.

    I wish I could recall where I read the article, anyhow about 2 years back I read an article on a survey that was conducted measuring deer weights across every state & province. The result was that Ontario, despite not contributing too many B&C bucks, had the heaviest average whitetails in the world. I wasn't too surprised considering the heaviest buck ever harvested was in the Kenora district 1977. 431 pounds. Glad you guys got a meaty deer and enjoyed Ontario!

    • @DrMadScientist
      @DrMadScientist 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope. Hunting regulations in Ontario just states that during open deer season you need to have at least 400 sq. inches of blaze orange, and it needs to be a garment that wraps entirely around your body like his vest. Those pinnies with the elastic straps on the sides are a no-go.

    • @NTycingProductions
      @NTycingProductions 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes he should have had a blast orange hat/cap on while hunting deer with a firearm in Ontario. "Waterfowl hunters, wild turkey hunters and archery hunters in archery-only areas are exempt from the hunter orange requirement. A hunter orange garment and head cover must be worn. The hunter orange garment must cover a minimum of 400 square inches (2,580 square cm) above the waist and be visible from all sides."

    Hey if any Ontario hunters want to tackle this one, I have a question:
    Is it legal to hire a hunter to hunt game for me in Ontario? I don't have a firearm or hunting license, but I'd still like to save money on buying meat so I figure why not do the next best thing?: Hire a hunter to do the work for me and get some elk or moose into my fridge and have meat for a while?
    Best way to save a buck is to hunt a buck, right?

  • @bryanbishop9563
    @bryanbishop9563 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    ITs really not that hard walking on Canadian Sheild covered in moss. Also, You need to dress Appropriately to the laws in Ontario, and that is you need to have an orange hat on as well. 'The hunter orange headcover may have: open mesh; a peak or brim colour other than hunter orange; a crest or logo which does not completely cover the hunter orange on the side where it is affixed. The headcover may not contain camouflage material.'
