Not sure how well Half-Life 2 has exactly aged, as the sequel focused a lot more on graphics than the first game, and the loading time is kinda long when you enter a level transition, this goes for other source games as well. I will say that HL2's worldbuilding, story is quite good & I still remember a lot of it, it does introduces a interesting gameplay element here & there, the most interesting is the game's gimmick weapon that you get after the first few chapters.
Actually you can play Decay in singleplayer. One of the buttons switches between the characters. The actual way you're suppose to unlock the alien levels is via getting all A ranks across all regular Decay missions. Also the PS2 version actually offers USB keyboard and mouse support! It says so on the box!
It's always wonderful to see someone experiencing the games we've grown up with. Keep up the excellent work! You deserve more super chats. I can't wait for you to experience the Source Engine. (Not Goldsrc, which was what the core Half-Life games you've just played used and was basically a quake engine modification; but Valve's own game engine.)

Plus, some of the stuff in the Game and the Half-Life campaign was changed because it was "Hard" on a Controller. Just like the Dreamcast. The changes were was the Suit chargers so you can go near it and Heal's you automatically. HD Models are different to the ones on PC, They can blink and move their fingers. The voice lines were Re-recorded for HD and there was bloopers from the actors. Textures has been changed such as outside of Black Mesa. Yeah, PS2 was very completely different. EDIT: Just like the secret mission where you play as a Vortigaunt. There is another cheat code called "Alien mode" where you can beat the again as a Vortigaunt. No weapons, only zap zap. But, There is this obscure cheat code in Half-Life PS2 called "Uplink". It's just the Half-Life 1 demo called "Half-Life: Uplink" but ported to PS2. They called it a "Mod" for PS2 but it's just a demo. Fans accidentally found Uplink was porting Decay to PC. The only way to play it is to get a DEMO disc from Playstation Magazine, and do a disc swap. Yeah, The PS2 port is weird.

I think it may be imo the most replayable game in the series. Achieving higher records after many tries and being able to fight with the marines at any time was so much fun.

17:00 well the fans brought us HL1 mods where you play as vorts and headcrabs (I didn't know they probably nabbed the vort mechanics from Decay!) and HL2 mods brought us Entropy Zero 1, 2, and Uprising, which have been super popular.

I believe beating the campaign with highest grades on all levels unlocks the secret level. Also, there are really good mods for HL1 where you play as Xen monsters, such as Point of View (full-scale campaign as a Vortigaunt) and Zombie Edition (as a headcrab/zombie).

so, fun fact, we've recently learned that there was going to be a fourth half-life 1 expansion. it would have made the team fortress classic mercs canon to the half-life universe, and it would've been their mission to escort some scientists to another facility/escape. it would've been developed by EA, and the project even had some mild level progress, but Gabe wisely didn't trust EA and pulled the project very early on.

even though decay is a very “unique” checkpoint system, i believe it’s still probably the most fun I’ve had in a co op campaign.
