Thanks! It's about 10 miles round trip, but mostly flat. They provide a trail map at the wilderness park if you ask. The route I took is a combination of the Juaneno Trail and the San Juan Creek Trail. I think there are some good guides online. This was definitely a hot trip. My first time was in December 2023, and it was still pretty warm.
That's interesting history! One time hiking in the area a mountain lion crossed our path he was close enough to see his full body and face . He looked at us and we looked at him and backed away! He must have been full from his last meal. 😳😳
I've had similar experience. All but one the mountain lions I've been have been further away. I've heard them screaming across canyons too, but those must have been way out of site.
