    I've made this. Just an FYI, the doctored up store bought chicken broth with the miso paste is divine. Marion has taught me that slaving over a broth for hours is totally unnecessary. She has made it possible to have pho, ramen, noodle soup, etc, on the table within minutes which is invaluable. I love this channel and the hundreds of tips and tricks I have learned to help simplify delicious food.

    I always get frozen dumblings or mini wantons at Costco, and they usually have a good deal on them. I made my first random wonton soup with bok choy, and been eating it for last 2 days, and it's so weird how much better i feel. So I'm here because I've always loved miso soup. I can't wait to give this a go!!! Thank you!

    Apologies for not being able to locate your tom yum soup recipe to comment appropriately. I have made that soup usually with my chicken broth but EVERYTHING in the broth , including your homemade shrimp paste is exactly the same. Substituted rice and orzo for dumplings, tofu and bok choy for shrimp, sand tomatoes and eggs,(not a fan for this soup) but we love, love, the soup. It is spectacular and better than any restaurant soup we've been to. Thank you so much for being so generous and sharing your recipes. Every one is so delicious 💝

    Hi Marion, I always love watching your channel as I have learned so much about Asian cooking. I have a question about miso paste, where to buy it, what to look for, and how to store it. Is miso paste/base comes in different types of taste like milder, sharper as I am very much new to it? Thank you so much :)

    • @MaZEEZaM
      @MaZEEZaM 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can answer the where to buy part, at least in Australia, it’s available in the Asian section of every supermarket. White or red miso are two typically available but I can’t remember what the difference was exactly.

    • @ellep2290
      @ellep2290 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      White miso is milder compared to red, I think the longer it is aged/fermented the stronger it is too. It can be made with different beans and grain (rice and barley), which will give it different flavors. It is a refrigerated product.

    I want to make this on Sunday with home-made dumplings and a while ago I bought frozen fish cake (the sheet kind and the balls). I've never had fishcake skewers before, so I have to ask: Would they be a good addition to this soup? Do they make the soup "fishy"?

    • @Juleru
      @Juleru 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Answer: No, the sheet fish cake skewers didn't make the soup fishy and yes, they fit nicely. The ball kind fit too, I guess but I didn't like those, so I'm not going to use them again.
      Btw, I also added some diced tofu and seaweed to the soup right at the end and simmered it for less than 5 more minutes.
