I can confirm this is a fantastic car; I have the SE 1st edition with a 1.5tsi engine and 6 speed manual. It's very quiet and smooth. Love it to bits. Oh; and at my age I do get stiff sitting for long periods; but not in this; no stiffness getting out of my Octavia. Best car I've had; and I had a Mondeo prior to this.

I used to own an Octavia. It was a very worthy car, good value and reliable. When the time came to replace it, I tried a Mazda 3 diesel, which was also 150bhp but which in comparison felt like a sports car. I don't think I'd be satisfied with another Octavia now.

In India, we get only 2.0 TSI with 7 speed DSG, do any enthusiasts here can give a feedback of this one available in my country. Though it is a CKD and assembled here
One problem I found ... looking for next Co car and wanted the ViRs (PHEV) but lease prices are crazy and its actually cheaper to lease a BMW 330e .. dropped the ball there
@@johnbower7452 You should try the 1.8 tsi. That one has port and direct injection, whereas your 1.5 has only direct injection which is noisier. The 1.8 usually runs on port injection which is extremely quiet. I have an octavia with it and the thing barely makes a noise at 3-4k and under 2k you simply cannot hear the engine.
The Mk4 Octavia is one of the worst car I've ever owned. If anyone is thinking of buying one check out the skoda forum first to see all the issues. Many of them are being rejected by customers because Skoda can't fix them. Mk3 Superb is a much better car IMO....and cheaper.
Obviously he has not encountered the myriad of problems with this model! Horrendous infotainment system. There are lots of problems with these! A shame

I think the DSG gearbox is the VAG-groups big disadvantage. They are expensive to maintain and not that good or reliable!
How is the gear box? As DSG DQ200 was a notorious one and failed a lot

My 2nd Octavia and I love them - make better cars than VW - well built - this time I have the 1.0 E-tec wagon but doesn't drive like a 1 litre !!
You do realize that VW owns Skoda AND Seat AND a bunch of other car brands?

you can't compare the silent ness of the tdi with the tsi...yeah, at 1500 rpm maybe, but at over 2000rpm you can clearly hear the diesel rumble.
Only car I ever drove that was quieter than my 1.5 tsi was a Bentley Eight. And even that was clsoe.
